Not the BEST, Always goes offline!

It's a pain. I have others from TP-link and they never go down. These are a nightmare!

Posted .Hi John, the red light is due to a connectivity issue with your home wifi. Try powercycling the switch by pulling the airgap tab at the bottom of the switch for 3 seconds then pushing it back in. These switches require a 2.4ghz wifi signal to maintain connection. Great smart dimmer, easy install
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve got nothing but great things to say about the dimmer itself. Well made, simple installation. I had one switch I had to feed a neutral wire down but no problems. Like it so much I now started installing them at our winter house in Az. They work good but the dimming is a little erratic/shaky plus the dim range isn’t as wide as incandescent dimming, but i guess you can’t have everything. I love being able to turn exterior lights on and off from 1000 miles away. Here’s the negatives..... the app is decent but not very user friendly. I would expect a better app as it’s very low end technology wise. My biggest issue is the schedule mode. Other dimmers let you set a schedule for a switch as a stand alone on and off Cycle. If you schedule a light to go on naturally you schedule it to go off so it shows as a single action. This app makes you schedule an on and it’s very unclear with the off especially if you have multiple dimmers and two separate homes. When you look at the schedule , it’s a hot mess. Also, not very clear is within the “ scheduling” you have to notice that when you schedule to turn lights off, there is a toggle that you need to turn off, all very confusing. I wish there would they would simplify this like some competitors. There is one in particular that has an awesome app that is flawless. This one is overly complicated and not easy to use.

Does not work with LEDs

I tried 5 different brands of "dimmable" LEDs with the same results. I installed one of the switches at a different house with the same results. Returned for refund. I have 3 other regular (non dimming) C by GE smart switches that work great.

Network connectivity is mediocre at best. Very difficult to obtain a connection to router which happened to be 5 feet away. Even harder to maintain a connection.

Couldn't get to work

Looks and functions great

Manual control for for dimming if desired. Alexa integration was simple and worked perfectly with dimming control on regular led flood recessed lighting. Cons. I connected in a three way circuit and had to remove the other 3 way. U need either both c by ge switches or just the one. Also, I want to flicker light when ring detects motion and there's no out of box solution because it doesnt support ifttt or any other smart app other than google and alexa. Works great but may change it only because of the ifttt. Wemo does support that with their switches.

Omg the switch is HUGE

The house was built in the 60s and the wiring read done by someone who didn't seem to care as there were 8 (EIGHT) wires randomly stuffed into the electrical wall box. Add into that the massive size of this light switch and it's impossible in this current situation. I will have to hire someone to cut out the drywall, replace the box with more depth and cut to shorten the wires. Will cost so much more, may just replace the bulbs and leave the heating elements as is.

Switch Works. Google Assistant, not so much.

One over the kitchen table and one in the work area. FYI, if you add them both to the same room in the C by GE app both sets of lights will be simultaneously controlled by either switch. Anyway, after spending over an hour with Google support I was told there is an identified issue with these switches and Google Assistant. Even though I can see both switches in Google Home. At this time I cannot control either switch with the Google Home app or any of my Google Home devices. I was told to wait for an update from Google.

Great Hardware. Weak App

GE is an iconic company and you just want to believe that they would produce the best of the best lighting products. Well... I have 10 of these and they are a mix of dimmer, motion dimmer, on/off. Installation on 3-way had instructions online that were just wrong and trying to follow them wasted hours of time. I have had to call support a few times for various reasons and has always been good but this agent was superior on every level and helped get the 3 ways I have knocked out no problem. Walked me through setup in app, linked to Alexa bam done. Alexa discovered the switches but would not work right away. Was told it can take a bit to start working and 30 min tried again and all good. So... The switch hardware is great. Definitely GE's strong side. Now... The software is another story. Let me just sum it up. Frequently disconnects, firmware is different on every switch, firmware fails or completes but does not change in app, motion sensors turn on when should not, cannot control away from home, automations i have deleted still trigger, cannot delete a switch that has lost connection. Thats not all believe it or not but I don't have all day. I am really stretching it to give 3 stars but the hardware and support are great. The app is definitely GE's weakness. It is buggy and not user friendly at all. The worst smart home app I have used. They should rebrand to D by GE as in "Disconnected" Home by GE. I hate to say this about an American icon but it is what it is. Sengled the Chinese equivalent of C by GE is a better user experience. There is always the chance that app & firmware updates can fix these problems but so far over promised and under delivered. Im still optimistic that GE developers will listen to their users.
