Did not work as expected

Would not connect

"Could not connect"
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Horrible, horrible, horrible product! We bought this specifically to monitor are kitty while traveling. We ran many motion and sound checks before leaving...as soon as we get 2 hours out we received nothing but the "Could not connect" message. I called customer service 4 different times, they needed me to be with the camera to troubleshoot the problem (really?!) This expensive, unreliable, piece is junk is going back ASAP!

NOT worth it

Have not been able to connect for over a month customer support for Dlink tells me to contact intent company. WHY I have 2 computers and a phone connected to my WIFI so WIFI works, It's the camera with issues.

Works as advertised, painful and slow setup.

The modified fisheye lens is clear enough. The setup on my own was a painful disaster. Don't waste your time, go ahead and call in to the BestBuy number for help, they will talk you through a way different than the instructions. It will work once done, the tech was very good and helpful. For me it took almost an hour on the phone. It should not be this difficult to set up, the instruction need to be modified. I was not able to move it where I wanted to in the space as wifi would not connect with two of three bars showing on my phone. I will experiment again later. Mine has developed a buzzing noise that was not there when I left it, 4 hours away from here. That is affecting the noise detection. When back where it is in a few weeks I'll have see what is going on. Too bad it will be out of store warrantee if the issue is in the camera itself. ((recommended if you understand what you are buying.))

Great interactive wifi surveillance camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a camera that allowed me to check in on my dogs while I'm at work and also enabled me to communicate with them if they are being loud & mischievous. I walked in looking for a petzi that I saw in a commercial but after talking with a Best Buy specialist in that department, he suggested this camera. I'm glad I got this camera. It's great! Better than what I expected. It has clear night vision for viewing in the dark when the lights are off & color HD for daytime. It was super easy to set up. Just download the app, create a free account, plug in the camera, set up the wi-fi, and you're set. I've had no problems with this camera so far. I will definitely be purchasing another one of these for another part of my home.

Great item, setup could be better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I looked at many similar cameras (including other DLink cameras) before deciding to try this one. I just got it today and it seems to do everything I expected. I was looking for a WiFi connected camera that plugs in (I'm not interested in continually replacing batteries#. If this one works-out, I plan to buy one or two additional cameras. The reason I didn't give this product five stars is because I had to rely on technical support to complete the installation. I am a very tech-savvy user, but was not able to get the product to work by simply following the quick-start guide. With the assistance of tech support, we went through several steps #most of which I had already tried#, but ended-up resetting the unit and then doing a firmware upgrade before the camera became fully-functional. The tech support person was great. He understood the problems we encountered and provided answers right away. Now that everything is working I can say the image quality is great. I did notice a significant lag in the audio, It was at least 10 seconds. I'm not sure if that was temporary because the video has very little lag (a second or less#. If you do run into problems during the setup, I suggest resetting the unit You'll need a fine pin and hold the reset in for at least 60 seconds. You'll see a rapidly flashing red light that will change to solid red. Then go back through the setup from the beginning, but do not use the QR scan #choose your camera from the list# and use the manual steps to connect to your network #don't use the button on the router). If you had already connected your phone to the camera network, go to the WiFi settings on your phone and forget the network so that you can start over. If you're asked about a firmware update, you'll need to do it before everything will work.

Not ready for prime time.

It's got wireless AC, an excellent resolution and above-average night vision with a fish-eye lens. The problem is the software is atrocious. Coming from an AXIS, I appreciate that you can (if you use a computer) draw motion territories which can trigger the motion sensors and record events; And I was excited to see an option to create schedules. Most ideas, you will find are half-baked. For instance, on the scheduling, if you're like the average person you may come and leave your home multiple homes throughout the day. This camera only allows ONE set time from to record FROM and TO. Which means I'm going to fill up my SD card with video of me because I don't always follow the same schedule because life happens. You should be able to set multiple time frames per each day - end of story. The Dlink Lite mobile app should be replaced ASAP. I'm embarrassed for D-link, a company with an almost $7.25B market cap to even want their brand to be associated with an app that is so terrible. You can basically view the camera from that app and that's about it. You should be able to fully manage the camera from the app since D-Link is really pushing this off as more of an IP/Cloud camera. If AXIS didn't require PoE to connect their newer cameras, I would go back in a heartbeat.
