DON'T buy this camera!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought 2 cameras. The first camera still has not installed properly! I have emailed tech support several times but 3 weeks later and still no response from them. I finally decided to open the 2nd camera and it did install without any problems. So here I am stuck with a camera that I spent too much money on that does not work right. The working camera will do. The view with light is not bad. The view in low light is not very good. It is hard to make out objects. I would recommend that you research other brands before purchasing this brand of camera. I’m sure for the price you could find something much better that actually will provide you tech support when you need it. In fact if I had read the reviews on this camera before I purchased it there is no way I would have bought it. I really wish I had taken these cameras back when I still was within the time frame for returns. Another expensive lesson in life has been learned!

Terrible set up for Mac and Features not working

I literally spent hours trying to set up this cam and only received half of what I wanted and expected Details-- First, the cam requires an updated JAVA player to get the image to display on your computer (2011 mac book air in my case). Specifically, the Java player it requires is not compatible with my Mac's OS. Frustraing b/c the d-link's box said it would work. I caved in an decided to spend $20 to update my Mac OS to Lion. I didn't plan to, but figured what the heck... Despite the OS update, the computer still would not display the camera's image. D-link's site kept saying that I need to update my java settings, but there is nothing on my mac that allows me to do that in the utilities menu. SO Frustrating. Also note that the D-link site is awful. It is not at all user friendly if you use a Mac. In fact, the majority of the time I spent trying to find a solution was spent scouring the website and online forums. Second, the image on my android mobile phone is not HD. There is no option for 720p despite the claims it offers HD. Maybe 720p is available when you record to the web or a microSD card? Who knows. The instructions that come with the product are worthless and only a couple pages long. Third, the image on my android kept disconnecting. I should have known better to purchase a d-link. I experienced similar problems with a d-link router several years ago (not user-friendly, poor instructions and set-up guidance, etc.). So Caveat Emptor. I hope it works for others, but mine is going back asap.

Don't count on any technical support

I found it easy to set up the camera to view live images using their cloud-based software. I found it extremely challenging to make it record, however. When I inserted a known-good micro SD card into the camera, it refused to recognize it as valid media and it would not give me the option to format the card. I really wanted to set up the camera to record to a network hard drive, however their instruction manual was not written clearly enough for me to be able to figure out how to do that. I entered two support tickets on the D-Link website, the first a week ago and the second five days ago. They still haven't responded to either support request. I guess customer support just isn't a high priority at D-Link. I've seen this problem referred to in other reviews of their cameras. At this point the camera is pretty much useless to me.

Never got it to work

Sometimes it would boot up , but mostly it didn't. I tried 2 different cameras with little success. Samsung's Smartphone put it to shame.

Junk - Not Ready for Prime Time

Horrible Product

In store was advertised as $99.00. When the girl rang up the price... $180.00... Hell no... Had to argue them down to the $99.00 Wish I would have argued down to $20.00 2. Got camera home. Easy to install. Easy to operate. 3. Internal speaker sounds horrible. Sound is so quiet... not worth even using. 4. Internal mic is horrible. Can't make out any sound at all. I have high speed internet... Even that did not help. 5. Mobile app is easy to use... However if you buy this camera, do not plan on trying to send any sound through the App with this Camera. That function is not available... and even if you could... it would sound horrible. Overall this is a disappointing, overpriced web cam. Really... This would be better utilized as a web cam... Suggested retail should be $20-30 Dollars...

Piece of junk.

Well, my router is in the study and I need the camera in another area. I thought a simple solution would be to use my spare Airport Express to establish the wifi connection. Never worked. Will admit, nice concept. But back to the store for the return.

Doesn't Record and Won't Work with Mac
