Would have given 5 but...

You can hear and talk too your kids or pets (as I do with my dog :)) Only issue is it has strange delay and you can sometimes be heard at your home where camera is when you talk from remotely but it sometimes sounds all scrambled.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this camera 10 days ago and here are my findings: - setup was relatively easy; however viewing the camera remotely required to install SEVERAL times addons.. I am still confused what is needed; I was not able to view sd-card clips remotely. Internet setup was relatively easy; no port forwarding and other stuff needed; pretty straight forward (this is why I gave a good rating) - trigger options this product offers:a) PIR sensor (passive remote sensor; like outdoor light motion sensors b) video motion detection: based on the video you specify the area and sensitivity (useful when camera behind window); also very easy to setup c) acoustic sensor: yes you can trigger an event if a certain noise level exceeds the threshold. d) timing: you specify when (day&time) you want the recoding what is missing however you cannot combine triggers with AND or OR functions; you need to decide which one to use - events Unfortunately the event is limited to either 100 seconds or 5,000 kB which I think is not enough. If you want to record in HD you only get around 12 secs. (this is why I gave an average rating for recording capacity) Also what it missing if a person is still in the room, why not keep recording until the person leaves the room. - email notification relative easy to setup; however, if the trigger is set wrong you may get a lot of emails... - sd card The events create different directories (based on type (pictures and video clips); then days and hours; so it is very easy to find the right files. It has an override capability so if you run out of memory; it will delete old files. Overall this product is great.

No Motion Detection and No Tech Support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Most features work fine. The configuration is not very simple, but anyone can do the basics. There's a complete manual that helps with advanced config but it could have more explanations about the camera limitations. I tried all kinds of configuration and figure out that there are some serious issues, even with the latest firmware (1.02.00): - Motion detection just doesn't work at nigth. The camera detects motion all the time, so you can not use this product for night surveillance, unless you want to record all night long. - My Dlink Lite application and My Dlink web page are not suitable to watch real time video or to watch recorded video. Maybe it's because I'm in Brazil. Even with very high speed internet and the lowest video quality, the video is not real time and it takes MANY minutes when you try to load the recorded videos. I recomend downloading an application on Sansung Store for on line video ou use your web browser to access the camera web interface. But, for implementing that suggestions, you need advanced configurarion in your router (dynamic DNS, port fowarding) and camera (fixed ip address). - If you want to record high quality video in the memory card, motion detection records only 5 or 6 seconds per event. So you get a lot of small videos with an interval of 3 to 5 seconds between each one. And I have to say I'm using a class 10 memory card. The only way to record larger pieces of video and don't to loose what's going on, is to use poor quality video. Even with medium quality you can't get larger videos. In this case, even if you select the maximum file size to 5000KB or maximum time to 100 seconds, wich are the limits in the configurarion, the camera won't respect this configuration. - Specially for foreigner users: if you leave outside US, you won't get support. US Dlink says you should contact your local Dlink or Global Support Site, but the local support says that tech support should be given by Dlink where you bought the product. So, forget about the friendly tech support they advertise. I'm very frustrated because I bought this camera thinking about 24 hour surveillance with high quality videos captured to memory card in case of motion detecion. Instead, I got motion detectioni not working at night and a camera that won't record all events in the SD memory when set to HD recording. I should have bought another brand that advertise the same features. Maybe they would give me tech support to find a solution for those issues.

She spent over 95 minutes helping me get the camera set up to my computer. She made sure that the camera worked. The camera worked very well. The camera was very clear and did not have the delayed response that some cameras have with the "drag" portion that has difficulty seeing. This camera comes at a great price, but the customer service was well worth the experience.

Call for help right away

I got a very patient woman named Rochelle who spent a lot of time with me getting it just right.

Excellent product & support

I needed a little help from their technical support, and D-Links agent named Lovely, Badge AR004276, helped me. She was patient with me, and totally understood the process she was helping me with. I recommend the D-Link product line, and have even purchased one, and given it as a gift to a close friend.

Not a good purchase

Once set up, I noticed that I can only see a small part of the room. It is nowhere near a wide angle. Plus, the volume was terrible, it freezes, skips. Everything about it is horrible. I got a drop cam today. Setup was 60 seconds! It is an amazing wide angle and I have no complaints so far. Spend the extra 60$ and get drop camera.

Great inexpensive surveillance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very reasonable price for a recording camera with HD and the easiest setup for wireless, and the cloud service is as easy to set up for recording, motion detection, notifications etc. the only minor flaw is the lack of a Java update for Mac that can support this, but works great on ipad and iphone.

Customer Service is great for setting up

I called customer service and they transfered me to the Best Buy department, that is for BB customers only. The agent walked me through the entire process and was able to link into my computer to fine tune the settings. I never would have been able to do this alone. Thanks to their awesome agent !!! Horrible product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this camera a week ago and still not working properly. So far, this is what I have encountered. When I first set it up, the SetUp Wizard kept freezing on step 2 (setting up with a MacBook Pro using latest OS X and Safari and an AirPort Time Capsule router). Tried everything I could think of for 3 hours. Finally called tech support and after 1-1/2 hours and manually setting everything up, I had video. Great! I bought this camera to record when motion detector triggered and could not get camera to read micro SD card. After another couple hours, learned that camera won't support the 64 gig card so I had to go buy a 32 gig (Best Buy told me the 64 would work - it doesn't!). Now with the correct card in the camera it records. Unfortunately it records every 20 seconds regardless of whether or not there is motion and has now filled up the card (no easy way to delete video!). The Mydlink website, where you go to view the image from the camera, is horrifically slow and keeps freezing. I did try tech support two more times and both times they hung up on me (line would just go dead - no call back even though I had just given them my phone number). Many, many hours wasted a terrible product. My D-Link has just made the list of products to never buy again! If a salesman tries to sell you this camera - run away fast!!!!

First and foremost D-Link suggests that you please be sure that you have downloaded and installed the latest firmware version available for your device now available from our website at support.dlink.com. Also be sure that before you begin the setup process that your are running Mac OS X 10.5 version or higher, and if you are using the web browser Safari that it is at or above version 4. Depending on your available bandwidth there are several configuration settings that may be adjusted to enhance response time and to adjust the recording time and sensitivity of the motion detection setting. Please refer to pages 51 through 55 of the User Manual that define each of these settings and how to configure them. In particular the Sensitivity setting located under the SETUP and Motion Detection tab in the camera's configuration settings as this can be adjusted to minimize the camera recording time.

Poor quality, very buggy, nightmare to set up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm an IT engineer and a gadget guy, so for me to have a hard time with this should tell you something. Out of the box the large thumbscrew had a hairline fracture in it that when tightened to keep the camera from pointing down cracked the top of the thumb screw off. I wasted an hour on the phone with tech support just for them to tell me to bring it back to best buy. I went on with the config process to see how it worked, D-Link's website suggested I download the iPhone app and set it up that way. You're supposed to connect the camera via Ethernet first, then during the setup configure it to your wireless network. The iPhone app only allows you to choose WEP or WPA for your network security type, I use WPA/PSK w/ AES encryption so I couldn't configure my camera this way.. I would up finding the web interface similar to D-Link routers and configured it that way since you can select WPA/PSK there. I got it online and working, but after a few minutes it would become unresponsive. I had to factory erase and re-add it 4 times, each time it would work for a few minutes then just become unresponsive again. I give up.. It's in the box and going back to best buy. I'll try a Belkin next since this one is garbage.

Am very thankful that I got a very patient and awesome rep 4281. Walked me through the whole process without letting me feel very challenged. Again thank you 4281!

2nd camera setup not as easy

Although setup seemed to go fine, just can't get live view of 2nd camera on computer, however; have 1st and 2nd camera imaging on my smartphone. Quality of video is very average, poor audio quality and poor technical support from company (no phone support, only delays with email). We only have wireless internet in this area (no cable and no landlines), therefore, these cameras provide me with an observational ability using wifi to keep tabs on my home and property while we're away via my smartphone. These cameras require electricity and wifi only, after that, you can watch from your Android smartphone anywhere you have cell phone service. That's pretty neat.

Buyer Beware!

This device freezes, and frequently drops connection. My router is a high end Linksys 1900 a/c and is less than 20 feet from the camera in open area and it still loss connection. The only this great about this was the app and that you could talk through it. The app even froze and wouldn't connect at times, however the interface was nice. The audio had a horrible lag. All in all I returned it and would never buy again.
