really good rpg but hard and very long worth the money.

Much like Demon Souls, this is a great game for those willing to take on a challenge. Great seeing as how you don't find these types of games much anymore, ones that actually give a challenge & feel of accomplishment when you surpass a certain point of the game.

Step one, choose character, step two, kill stuff, step 3, die a lot. Never before have I hated and loved a Game so much. I don't normally yell at my television or throw the controller, but when I do I am definitely playing dark souls. Yet somehow I can't stop playing. It is that amazing of a game. Actually, the souls games have become my favorite series of all time.

This is a great RPG game for those looking for a challenge. Countless hours of playtime with memorable bosses. My first run through took me about 100 hours which for some might be pretty steep, but there was a ton of exploration and things you can unlock to make your character look cooler or make him or her stronger. A must buy

This is one of my favorite Souls games and one of the most difficult in my opinion. Be prepared to die a lot when playing and don't expect to find many clues. This game will push you to your breaking point, but its very rewarding once you overcome the obstacles. Praise the sun!!!

I read other reviews of this game however if you are like me, you probably ask other gamers what games they like and if their interests align with yours, then you probably value their feedback in determining your next purchase. Well, let me help you out. I enjoy games like inFamous, God of War series, Uncharted series, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Mario games, Zelda WindWaker HD. I have beaten almost all these games on the hardest difficulty except for Nintendo games, which are next on my list. If you have enjoyed playing these type of games on the hardest difficulty and "actually" finished the game rather than walk away and never return, then you will enjoy Dark Souls. Yes, you die a lot in Dark Souls however just like dying in old-school Mario games set you back to the beginning of the level or a very early checkpoint and you had to traverse the world again to get to the boss, that is how Dark Souls is. But wasn't Mario fun? Of course, I am not comparing Dark Souls with Mario games (I know better) however it is the logic behind the gameplay that I am talking about. If you like to play linear games where you die and it re-spawns you at the nearest checkpoint so that you don't have to start further back in the game and kill those enemies again, then you might not enjoy Dark Souls. The game will not hold your hand and give you hints. If you play it like a hack and slash game, then you will put this game aside and never return. A boss battle might take you 8 attempts before you study and memorize the patterns on how to finally beat it on the 9th attempt. It is open world and you will be lost for hours trying to figure stuff out. Don’t be surprised that you have to Google if you get stuck. Also, I don't see some reviews mention the stats and parameters in the game so I want to say that expect to keep your smartphone handy because you will want to read the Wiki guides and learn how a weapon's stats are impacted based on your character's attributes like strength, dexterity, etc. If you don't enjoy reading and thinking in this manner, I would encourage you to pass on this game. If you don’t pay attention to these stats, you will get frustrated and never return to play this game. I am not a huge RPG fan however I am very much enjoying the game. I haven't even finished my first playthrough and I am already looking forward to my second playthrough as a different class. The world of Dark Souls is mind-blowing. The atmosphere is a work of art. And even though the game is not heavy on cutscenes and story telling like Uncharted (I like games with a great single player campaign), it has enough depth, lore and story telling elements that you will not feel shortchanged. Sorry for the long review however I wanted to ensure that people don't pass on this game for the wrong reasons. I hope my review will help someone and that you will try the game.

Dark Souls is a fun game if you're tired of playing more classically designed RPG's. My only complaint is that you can be invaded by other players that have played the game longer and therefore out level you by a drastic margin in the beginning of the game.

It's not enough to say Dark Souls is a challenging game. No it's more than that. A game like Dark Souls teaches you patience, persistence, perserverence. It raises your awareness. It forces you to remember, to improve, to plan. Afterwards, you will look back and think did I truly find this game difficult? But it's so easy. Has Dark Souls changed? No but you will have changed. You will have unlearned the lazy, easy way games tend to be. Like Neo in the Matrix, you will see through all the that. And it is a wonder.

Really enjoyed this game. The story line in interesting and moves at a great pace. The graphics are cool and I really liked playing this game.

The game has an original story. The level design and sound make it creepy, but you can't put it down !!!

This game is incredibly hard and doesnt hold your hand at all, it will make you fail and die and you will like it.

This may be one of the most challenging games i have played but the beating it was so rewarding. Waiting for the third one as well.

after my first 50 deaths I wanted to snap this game in half but once you get good then it's all downhill. You just gotta get good son.

One of the most incredible level designs I have seen in a game to this day. I fell in love with everything about this game. The challenge, the world, the characters, I just couldn't put it down. It's not a game for everyone, but if you play this game and you like it, it will grow on you and you will have a hard time putting it down.

THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME (IF YOU'RE MAN ENOUGH). It's tough, but it is one of the most rewarding experiences once you beat the game (or any boss for that matter). Highly recommend that EVERYONE play this game. I got it when I was a sophomore in high school and loved it ever since. One of my favorite games for sure.
