Good gps base mount

Bought for use in motor home, but base is not tacky enough to remain in place. TomTom gps cup is designed to work against hanging weight, sitting weight of gps causes rotational grip to work loose.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to NOT slide off the dashboard no matter how easy I was on the gas pedal. Lets be real, someone using a GPS is not familiar with an area and will need to start or stop or turn quickly- this product will end up on the floor, in your lap or on your latte at the most inopportune times. It should be in a museum of good ideas executed poorly.

The cost was outrageous (over $30) and it slides off the dash of my daughter's car. You are better off buying Velcro strips and attaching the GPS to the dash.

Posted .Hi Goldenoldy, Sorry to see you are unhappy with the Dashboard Mount. For most vehicles it stays in place through weight and friction, but on particularly smooth or heavily sloped surfaces there's only so much friction can do and other options have to be considered. Patrick @ TomTom

Merely keeps the GPS from sliding around

The bae is heavy and stable enough that I don't need to worry about the Tom Tom falling or slipping from the dash of my car. It is also the right size to store in my glove compartment when not in use.

The weight was enough to support my iPhone5, and now I'm using it on my newly acquired Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and it supports it quite well. Highly recommended.

It just sits on the dash and doesn't require any connections. It was slightly difficult to get the GPS suction cup to attach to the mount but once I got the hang of it, it was no longer an issue. The mount stayed in place during all but the fastest and sharpest turns (which I probably shouldn't have been making anyway). I like it and would buy again. However, it probably wasn't necessary as the GPS suction cup could have been attached directly to the windshield.

Great addition to a mobile GPS

After using this for one trip I am completely sold. I had no problems with my GPS moving or shifting in any direction. Great addition to any mobile GPS system.

Falling off the dash several times a day. After thoroughly cleaning the mount platform and the rubber suction it still loses connection. I will purchase a clip mount product to alleviate the lack of suction of the TOM TOM.
