I asked the Geek Squad to remove the hard drive on an old computer and give it to me and dispose of the rest of the tower. This they did with flying colors. I also asked them to download the files that they could onto a thumb drive. Again, done deal. However, I need more assistance because my new laptop will not open the most of the files. I don’t recognize the file types either.

I was told, after learning my old computer was done, that when I got my new computer that Best Buy Technicians would transfer Paige's data (my wife) to the new computer and set up the new computer. I brought them to the Tech's and they are now fulfilling that promise.

This is the second time I have used the GEEK SQUAD at Best Buy to back up my computer. They did the work in less time than I had expected and were very good to help me understand what they had done. My computer was returned to me in great shape and everything had been backed up as expected. The GEEK SQUAD at Birdcage in Citrus Heights is very professional and the GEEKS are able to answer all my questions in simple layman's terms.

My service was a data backup transfer and i am satisfied with it all. I like how the rep explained everything to me even if they had to repeat it for me to 100% understand.

Excellent service by Geek Squad techs. I knew my 10yr old plus, Laptop was probably gone? The Hard Drive was gone. After speaking to 2 of the staff I left the laptop so they could download the info on to a Flash Drive. Called the next day to pickup the Flash Drive. The laptop will be recycled. Thank you All staff

My old dinosaur of a computer blew up, quite literally, on my birthday. We rushed it to Best Buy hoping that it could be salvaged in some way but they said the motherboard was fried...two blown caps, unfortunately meaning she was pronounced DOA. So off to the computer department we went to buy a brand new system! After we picked out everything, we pushed our heavily loaded cart over to Geek Squad and arranged to have a data transfer done. I knew I had backed up a great deal of info on my external HD at home but I wanted it all, if it was possible. They told us it should not take more than 48-72 hours but it wound up taking 5 days due to them running into issues with the transfer. Other than the time frame that it took, they were able to get EVERYTHING from my old drive. They had the wrong folder shortcut to the desktop, there was only 109 GB of info out of 500 GB (my old HD was nearly full) so at first I was quite upset because they had told me they got it all and obviously they hadn't. BUT...after poking around the new drive as I was setting it up, installing programs etc, I found another folder that was hiding deep in the C drive with the full backup inside it! All 460 some gigs of info from my old computer was there! Needless to say I was extremely happy once I found the hidden folder. It has all been backed up to my external drive, only keeping some extremely vital pieces of info on this new drive to conserve space. If it weren't for Best Buy, fighting tooth and nail to get every drop of info off my old HD, I would have lost it all...so I am eternally grateful to them.

The agent transferred the data from the old to the new desktop computer. He did not transfer any app programs including Microsoft which he did upon my request at the time of my pickup of my computer.

This data retrieval saved me !! My laptop could not be charged and the battery was dead. I needed my case study for grad school. The Geek Squad saved the day!!!

Francisco and Jake were great. Transferred files from my old all-in-one HP to my new HP Envy i7. Everything was there and these two guys were great. I can't say the same for the online help, however. After numerous phone calls and logging onto my computer, they couldn't help me with my questions. One stop to the in-store Geek Squad did the trick, and with a hell of a lot less time. It was worth the trip to the store, which is not that close to my home. Thank you Francisco and Jake! You guys rock!

Geek Squad had to resolve an issue my PC was having in completing a recent Windows security update that did not finish & reverted changes (was stuck in a loop). Before resolving they suggested that they perform a data back up to safeguard & preserve my data and family pics that were of great value to me and did not want to lose them. I appreciated their technical expertise & was grateful for their customer service!

I was disappointed one week after I purchased a computer at Best Buy it blew up. So I was pretty grumpy when I brought it back. However, I was told to leave the ruined computer and go look for a replacement so I chose the HP. Actually it ended up cheaper than the bad one; in addition I paid for downloading info from my old machine and the Geeks used that to now load my new computer at no charge.

I was told by the Internet Geek Squad person to bring my computer in because it was failing and getting ready to crash. That very night I couldn't even shut it off normally. I had to use the power button. When I brought it in, they said they could save all the information I needed, but they could not promise saving the emails and email addresses. I did lose them, but they told me up front. The machine is working like brand new now.

Geek squad could not diagnose problem. I eventually solved the problem on my own.
