We had a file backup done and a software reinstall and repair. My computer was not installing needed updates, and my wife's side of the computer froze up and she could not log in. Geek Squad removed and reinstalled Windows 7, as the unneeded automatic earlier installation of unwanted Windows 10, and Geek Squad reinstall of Windows 7 had made the system unstable and buggy. Also they repaired my wife's user ID and attempted to restore her large music files. That was only partially successful, as many artists and albums were permanently lost and were not recovered, either on the computer as well as the backup device we bought for Geek Squad to archive them. Nearly all of my contact list on Windows Live Mail were lost. A few days ago, I switched over to Comcast Mail for e-mailing, and many (not all) of my contacts appeared there. I think the Geek Squad over promised what they were able to accomplish. They took several days longer than promised, but did stay in touch and tried to explain what problems they were working on in terms we could understand.

The service and backup is done well but very overpriced!

The Geek squad, far exceeded my expectations. they transferred all my data, pictures and files. Got home and and just plugged and played, and was such a relief, to have a new computer and all my "stuff" in working order

I was pleased with the recovery of my old computer to my new Mac Air. I had no way to do this job myself as I am an elderly female not of the computer savvy generation.

I had this done to 2 separate computers and the first time they did exactly what I wanted such as back up all my data and reset my computer but the second computer they backed everything up but didn't erase everything like i asked so now I have to go back and have them do it again.

The Squad did a great job of transferring my data from my old computer to the new one. There was a problem with some of the files, and they put in a greater than expected effort on solving the issue. Then they took the time to help me get started with the new Windows. That was totally unexpected and GREATLY appreciated. Everyone there was professional and polite.

Geek Squad visited my home to set this up for me. After about a week or so, my 5+ year-old HP computer lost its internet capabilities and had to be replaced. Geek Squad handled the data transfer, but I'm not sure my automatic backups are in place anymore. Will have to have it checked out, I guess.

Excellent service that not only was done in less than a day but it also fulfilled every one of my requests for data transfer to a new laptop.

The Geek squad tested our computer and found the hard drive failed 3 of 5 tests. We had them install a new drive and transfer all of our old data to the new drive . this saved a ton of re entering and also saved all of our family photos. We could not be more pleased with their performance. I will not hesitate to use their services again

My laptop died and I had things on it I wanted to keep. I had the Geek Squad take the old files, pictures and put them on my newly purchased laptop. They also put a desk top icon that I could easily click on to find what I was looking far, It was called Geek Squad Backup. Was glad my local Best Buy Geek Squad guys were so fast.

An old Seagate external hard drive failed, and I could not retrieve the files stored on the device. Geek Squad tech was able to retrieve the data, much to my infinite relief. They had to crack the case open (they warned me beforehand that they would probably have to do it), but that was OK because I needed to buy a new external HD anyway.

My hard-drive went out so I had to buy a new computer. I was not worried about losing my data because I was using Carbonite to back-up my 20+ years of data. However, when I called Carbonite about restoring my data, I was told they could only restore what was on my desktop because that was all I had checked when I signed up. Two people tried to transfer my data from my old hard-drive to my new computer but were unable to do so because my old hard-drive was too damaged. I took my old hard-drive to Geek Squad at Best Buy and by the next day they had transferred all my data to a new device. I will forever be grateful to the Geek Squad agent that restored my info. It is a horrible feeling to lose so many years of work but they came through with flying colors ! I highly recommend them. They are friendly, prompt and super knowledgeable.

Everything was transferred, but I have an issue with Microsoft that has another person's name as owner. I am the only one to use this computer since picking it up at Best Buy. Plan on taking it back to see why this person has ownership and I can't delete it.

Transfer and backup is so much easier to go to the store and have geek squad help you transfer all your files over then you know and are reassured you aren’t missing anything

Geek Squad agents are always great! They backed up my data so that I wouldn't have any issues with my MacBook. My laptop was locked up and I couldn't get into it. They solved my problem very quickly!

Moving my data to a new computer made my life easier. The things I couldn't find, tech easily handled for me.

Data transfer service was performed quickly and thoroughly. No files were lost in the process. Explanation of location and accessing of transferred files was clear and thorough.

Geek squad could not diagnose problem. I eventually solved the problem on my own.

It took awhile because of people being out sick but it was done accurately.
