In store technicians were not able to restore data from my external hard drive. They offered send the HD to their Lab for $100 (or so) and, if they retrieve the data, the total charge is going to be $1000 (or more, don't remember). Before give the "go", I asked their definition of "restored data". My point is, if my pictures and music (thousands of) files are restored, I was willing to pay the $1000. Technician say yes, so I signed the contract and my HD shipped to Kentucky (I believe). When I received the (details) agreement contract via e-mail; it clearly said that "...if ONE file is restored, Bust Buy considers the data retrieved and will charge me the $1000+ for the data retrieving service...." That was a no-go and immediately asked Best Buy to return my damaged HD and refund the deposit. Good that I read the final agreement!!

Help to get my problem solved. Knowledgeable tech did the job.

I had an external hard drive that failed. I had some very important documents on there and they were very understanding and professional.

Service was decent but I went there to get music data transferred over and that data was apparently partitioned. I didn't end up getting the music, and was refunded half the cost.

My data was lost, which is no fault of Best Buy, but the experience was fast and easy! Hopefully if you need to use them it'll go well for you!

Timeline is much longer than originally told at drop off. Very hard to get in touch and speak with a technician.

Geek Squad was able to recover all my lost data. However, the price seems very high for what does not seem like a labor or time-intensive process.
