I bought two so that I could backup several computers.

First of all the service I got was pretty good, thus the 2-stars, but in order to recover my failed external hard-drive data, it would've cost me $1,400. I'm glad they warned me about the cost. I decided not to go forward with the service.

UNFORTUANTELY I HAVE HAD TO TWICE SEND MY COMPUTERS FOR DATA RECOVERY. THE COST IS OUTLANDISH. $1450-$1800.

Everyone I have spoken with durning this recovery process has been very helpful.

Was informed over the phone that the recover service was $150.00 which was great when I got to the store I was informed it $450.00 to sent it out to have the recovery performed. I then had to purchase a Hard Drive to store the data when recovered. If I was told to being a hard drive with me I would have. The laptop was gone for over almost 2 weeks when they called and then informed me it would cost $1000.00 to maybe recover the data. Total disappointed with this service.

The agent did a great job connecting my device and setting it up for me. He was very knowledgeable and courteous. I've always had very knowledgeable agents and have always been very happy.

We used Geek Squad to help with Data Recovery on an external hard drive that died. First, the guy took almost an hour to figure out how to make it happen. Then it cost me a ton of money, almost $250 for them to just mail it off. Then weeks later they finally got back to us only to tell us it was going to take even more time, finally we find out it's $2500 to recover the data. Why in the world would they charge us that kind of money just to mail something that would only eventually cost us $2500. Ridiculous.

Best Buy's data recovery service is fantastic because of their quick turn around and thoroughness to recover the lost data.

Although my computer ended up computer crashing, Danielle and Darnell couldn't have been more understanding, thoughtful, helpful, professional, personable, and overall fabulous to work with. While living in the area, I will never take my electronic problems to anyone else!!

The Geek Squad kept me well informed on how things were going. They were unfortunately unable to retrieve my date but they gave me other option on how to get my date off my external hard drive.

Got 3 different answers to how I can pay for data recovery: -yes, I can use the $100 best buy rewards toward payment, yes I can use it but must go to a physical store to do so, no I cannot use $100 rewards and no I cannot pay in the store. Been doing business with bb for quite a few years. Very frustrated. Then I call data recovery ( no less than 6 times in past week), told I'm #2 in queue then abruptly told t leave questions message and nothing.....

External Hard Drive was sent off and was told it would be around $1300 to recover. Declined. Local geek squad tried to recovered data from a desk top hard drive and could not recover. I took it to PC Help and they recovered it and created me an external drive with the data.

Hard drive on Asus computer crashed 8/2016. Computer was replaced and hard drive crashed again in 12/2016. Hard drive was replaced. It crashed again in 4/2017. and was replaced. Hard drive crashed again in 10/2017 and replaced again. Would not recommend ever. I had to purchase a different computer with no moving parts.

The geeks were unable to extract any data from my old Maxtor external hard drive. I am disappointed with the loss of data. However it is my own fault for not having backed it up. Overall, the procedure of Best Buy was very professional in that they kept me informed and returned everything promptly.
