In all the years I have been a gamer I never had an issue to install a game! I've owned this game now for more than a week and haven't been able to play it. I've spoken to Microsoft customer service and done everything even reset my Xbox to factory setting and still can't install. Its not the game because I'm able to start it but can't play because the update doesn't complete. I've even wrote to capcom and they never replied! Best buy won't even let me exchange the game and treated me as if I'm crazy or don't know how to use my Xbox! Most disappointing game I've ever bought! What a waste of money!

Its a decent enough game to kill a few hours, however most of what made Dead Rising has been removed in order to cater for a wider audience. Also the ending is absolutely atrocious and is obviously dlc bait.

    No Story Mode CoOp

The main point I want to mention is in the title. If you enjoyed playing through the Dead Rising 3 story with a friend, you'll be easily disappointed to find out that the story mode in Dead Rising 4 is strictly single player. I'm confused by the decision to do so considering the big change in not forcing you to watch the clock, having to administer zombrex, or even escorting survivors to the safe rooms. After playing a few hours fighting off the zombies, exploring, and progressing the story, I find it missing the hilarious, exciting, and fun moments that my friend and I came to enjoy in the previous title. Yes, there is still a CoOp mode to be played in Dead Rising 4, but trust me it's a whole separate experience aside from the general game play. The fact that we were expecting a 4 player CoOp and getting in a completely different way was just very disappointing. So is the other CoOp mode fun? Sure! I'd be lying if I said there weren't any fun to be had in this mode, but I find it weird that they approached it in a different way than they did with the story mode. In the 4 player CoOp you are required to complete missions that unlock more missions as you go. Everything here is pretty much time based including the part where you must find the next safe room. Failure to find the next safe room, even without being killed by zombies will result in a game over. This takes away from wanting to explore and screw around with everything you can find within this game. Time again forces you to go complete missions in certain areas, rather than freely roaming about as you would in the story mode. Should you pick up the game? Not at full price. I would say $30 sounds like a fair deal, anything lower is much better of course. Just my personal opinion, but this is definitely going to be a game I rush through and trade back in. If story mode CoOp was there, I'm sure my friend and I would have taken a lot of time exploring everything and screwing around adding more to the game time, but again, it's a single player experience.

    Wondeful game

Capcom has made some controversial changes to the Dead Rising series with this fourth iteration, which may irk some longtime fans of the games. This includes changing the look and voice of the main protagonist, removing the timer completely from the main game, and sacrificing variety in enemy types in exchange for more enemies possible on screen. Regardless, I think this is addictive as all get out. I easily lose myself in the game everytime I pick it up - for hours. It just feels great killing endless hordes of zombies with the variety of weapons they offer. The costumes, the tone, and easygoing main character make this a lighthearted romp of Zombie heaven for those Zombie fanatics out there. If you liked any of the other DR games, if you liked any other Zombie games out there (Dead Island, Dying Light, survival horror games that are more action heavy, etc.), and want a pick-up-and-play beat-em-up, you should definitely check this title out. One of the few Xbox One exclusives out there, and one of the best in my opinion - especially compared to some of the more disappointing XB1 exclusives from 2016.

    Still Dead Rising

At its heart it's still a Dead Rising game through and through, however, there are two glaring absences from the series that you'll be missing out on. The biggest item missing are the fun and absolutely insane, Psychos that would normally populate the area that you'd be tasked with taking out. Secondly is the odd decision to not include a campaign co-op. I mean, I guess they didn't have a means to shoehorn a reason to have a co-op partner that could make things 'too easy' or mess with the 'story' (which lets face it, we don't really play Dead Rising for the complex & deep story), but it certainly would've benefited if it included it in my opinion. With all of the said, it's still a great game and any Dead Rising fan should still enjoy it.

DR4 is a fun game but can get old quick. Love the humor in the game and the gameplay is great but I still favor DR3 more so than DR4. If I had not got my copy for free, I probably would have waited for a price drop.

    Not Dead Rising

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It does not feel like a Dead Rising game. First of all, this game is unfinished. They sell you a very short game and have to buy the actual ending and extra content that should be in the game already. it has some major technical issues. For example, the safe houses do not work properly and glitches are everywhere. Psychopaths are replaced with "maniacs" and they're boring to fight. For example, no cut scenes, no instance music played in background. I don't even bother fighting them because they're just no fun. Survivors feel cheap. They have poor designs to them, they all look alike. Story is dumb. Boring characters. No returning characters, not even for multiplayer??? I was expecting a little or more landmarks or one or more survivors from the first dead rising just for a throw back to the fans. I mean this place back at Willamette. Frank is not the same. Replaced the original voice actor and personality. No co-op also which was a very bad decision. All and all, don't buy this unfinished game even if it's half priced.

More DR 3 than DR 1 and 2

Fans of Dead Rising 1 and 2 might want to skip this one as it renounces the timer mechanic from the former games. While it removes the tension and choices those games had, the new one is entertaining enough in a different way as you find numerous ways to mow down zombies.
