Customers are saying

Customers regard the graphics, story, and soundtrack of Death Stranding as exceptional, frequently citing them as highlights of the game. However, some players found the controls and pacing to be less intuitive and slower than preferred, while others noted a significant amount of walking. The open world and price point also received positive feedback. Despite some criticisms, many players found the game's unique features engaging.

This is a very cool game. Good story, but a bit slow to unveil. Will keep you on edge with suspenseful moments.

I love Kojima and the Metal Gear series that he created over the past couple of decades. I was EXTREMELY excited when he and Sony announced Death Stranding in 2016. I drank in every detail that was posted. Finally, the game released. Well . . . While the game is gorgeous and the acting by ALL of the actors is top-notch, the story and game mechanics needed more time to develop. Death Stranding isn't a 'walking simulator' as most will try to label it. There's something amazing to witness when you go into this 'connected' online world. You'll see roads that you started to develop are now fully constructed because of the help of unseen players that contributed materials to that road. Or you'll be trekking along and come across a seemingly impossible crevis but there's a ladder that was left behind by another player that gives you the ability to cross what was once impossible. As I mentioned before, it feels like this game needed more time to develop in regards to story and mechanics. I can't go into detail without spoilers but I will say that you will have to pay attention to the events that unfold through the game. If you're into game soundtracks, you will be amazed by the music that swells throughout your journey. Ludvig Forsell composes some incredible scores while Low Roar provides the lyrical songs. Death Stranding isn't a horrible game but it isn't perfect. I think players will enjoy this in increments compared to long playthroughs.

Very odd game, but still a lot of fun. You will be walking a lot, so not tons of quick action stuff.

    Hideo Kojima might be crazy

I'm actually enjoying the complete insanity of this game. I can understand the hate it gets. The gameplay can be a bit annoying and repetitive in the early goings, but new items help make things less obnoxious. The story is where the game excels, where Kojima has created a completely crazy post apocalyptic world. At one point in the beginning of the game my controller suddenly turned off and when I turned it back on it still had full power. That's when I knew Kojima was already messing with me.

    Future/post-apoc/survival delivery simulator

Mechanics 5/5 How it feels to play 5/5 Story 3/5 Visual fidelity 5/5 This game feels quite a bit like your simulating the main Characters life as a porter (deliveryman). The entire game play loop is centered around this. Playing the pinnical of fetch quest might have been boring if traveling wasn't so much fun. I'd say if your looking for an action/stealth/combat focused game then this isn't the game for you. For all intensive purposes it's better to view this as a futuristic/post-apocalyptic/survival deliveryman simulator. Is it a good "game" yes.

Imagine a future where Norman Reedus travels the world delivering packages between bunkers of people hiding from the world around them because evil floating oil monsters attack you. It's a weird game in the strand genre according to Kojima, which is a new game genre, but it sucks you in after a few yours. Before you know it, you're in a "just one more package before I log off" and you can't stop. With zip lines and vehicles for fast travel, combined with the shared universe online component this game offers, it's really fun!

    Strangely addicting mailman simulator

A lot of people have written this game off as a walking sim, mailman sim, and other similar mundane descriptors. They're not entirely wrong - there's a lot of traversing landscapes. But part of the addictive formula is how you acquire equipment to make movement less of a chore. Admittedly, until you start getting these improvements, moving from facility to facility can be tedious. It's best to save optional missions until maybe a few main missions in to start seeing just how the upgrades look in this game. At its core though, you do just make delivery after delivery, slowly working your way across the country. The multiplayer aspect is a treat. Structures that other players have built can appear in your world, saving you from spending precious resources and giving you ideas for how to get around by building things of your own. Players can even contribute towards each other's structures if they're lacking materials. Roads are the most exciting things to build. They require the most resources but building long stretches of roads allows you to travel quickly and safely without any wear and tear of equipment. The story was a bit too on the nose. There's only so many ways you can spout the same message. A little bit of patience will go a long way towards enjoying the experience; not just to ride out the story but also for the myriad of animations and dialog bits you'll repeatedly hear throughout. There are a lot of animations/mini-cutscenes for actions like getting out of bed, dropping off packages, activating consoles, etc. Enjoy this game for what it is: a high production value deliveryman simulator with an engaging traversal and progression system.

I've heard a lot of people complain that Death Stranding was weird, confusing, didn't have enough action, and was basically a walking simulator with some stealth... This might all be true - but it's the best, most riveting walking simulator I've ever played. The landscape is absolutely gorgeous and terrifying and if you're not just looking around in awe of the scenery, then you're constantly on edge expecting an attack, either from the supernatural beings or fellow humans.

I’m only about ten hours into it but the story is so mysterious and intriguing that I can’t stop playing. The act of taking packages from here to there is fun itself but it’s the story that captivates me. If you’ve played any Metal Gear games then you know about half the game is a movie and Death Stranding is no different so far. That’s what I love about his games though. I highly recommend this game if you’re a story lover and enjoy beautiful graphics. Two thumbs way up!

This game has a new gaming strategy to it that involves a "like" system that allows for you to go through on your quest and find areas that allow for you to traverse either unscathed or put you into real peril. The idea is to bring the community together to help rebuild society and in the real world we work together to do that in this game. It's quite unique and fun to play. Be warned though it's intense on the cut scenes and the story is great but gameplay needs to be methodical and paced. Anything less would be to your detriment. Happy playing!

I've been playing this game for about 10 hours and I LOVE IT. It may be slow and tedious for some, as there is no much fighting and shooting (at least so far) but I love the soothing feeling of just walking around to deliver packages. It may get a bit intense when you encounter BTs and they "attack" you but that's far from other zombie games where you fight 120% of the time. If you like slow pacing games with a bit of spicy fights, that may be the game you were looking for

In open world games I mainly long for interesting places to explore but will often find myself disappointed in games because exploring adds up to just traversing an area once and finding no real use for the area again. I like that Death Stranding brings an element to exploring I don't see a lot which is the element of being faced with some obstacles you have to cross multiple times and you can add to the environment with ladders, ropes, bridges, roads, etc so that your trips back and forth get easier if you place things strategically.

Game play was good and the quality of the game itself was good too. But I just couldn't get into the game. I found it to be very strange and slow at a lot of points. I didn't get very far into the game and I doubt I'll end up finishing it.
