    Amazing Speaker will impress Audiofiles!

I picked two of these up to replace my two fronts which were ProMonitor 800 by Def Tech. I moved the 800 to the surround and out these 1000 as the fronts. I can not say enough about Def Tech speakers, they blow allot of more expensive brands out of the water. Highs mids and bass are so well reproduced on these speakers, its real ear candy when paired up with a good quality receiver. They are very well made, and have a nice sleek design that lets it go unnoticed. These are amazing speakers, I suggest going down to your local BB with magnolia and comparing these to all the others in the room, and you will see the difference!

Good things come in small packages

The ProMonitor 1000s have a surprisingly big sound for such a small speaker. After testing it out with test CDs and a spectrum analyzer, I found that it had crisp, clear treble far beyond what I could hear. The bass was solid and dynamic down to 80hz. If you want lower with such a small speaker, you need a subwoofer. You could spend a lot more money for very little in return. For the vast majority of music listeners, this is the most speaker you will ever need. (Again, for thunderous base, especially in movies, get a sub.)

    Sick Speakers

This was the first set of high-end speakers that my wife and I purchased for our new house, and we wanted something that would fill our main room without needing a 5.1 or 7.1 system (that's coming later once I finish the basement). These speakers are incredible, and look great in our wall unit - barely even notice them. I like them so much, that I may have to deck out the basement with Definitive Technology products instead of the 'typical' brands. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for the highest quality sound out of 2 bookshelf speakers.

I've always known definitive to be a really great name. The value for the money spent on these speakers is really second to none. Everyone touts Bose as the name to beat, these speakers surpass the lifestyale speaker system I had prior. I coupled them with the ProSub 1000 subwoofer and a ProCenter 1000. Also put a pair of SpeakerCraft CRS1 6" speakers in my ceiling for the back. This setup left me flabbergasted and highly satisfied. Movies, music sports, everyyhing I throw at them sounds unbelievable. I can't get over what a full sound comes from such small speakers. Definitely consider these.

I bought these speakers to replace the front left and right speakers in my surround sound system. I have a 5.1 Infinity system which was great for movie sound tracks but was lacking when I wanted to play music. After doing a lot of research and reading a ton of customer reviews I decided to buy these Def Techs. Not only am I really happy with my music now, but it made an incredible difference with movie sound tracks. While these speakers do need to be broken in for a time (20-40 hours) you can't beat them for the money! I could have spent more money, but I don't think I could have gotten better sound. After the break in period, these speakers have an amazingly transparent, room filling sound. Dollar for dollar, you won't find a better speaker. They have great specs and they handle up to 200 watts. I plan on buying another set of these to replace my other two Infinity surrounds. I couldn't be happier with this purchase!

I am replacing a Bose Acoustimas set with these and the matching center. I wanted a small speaker to fit on my fireplace mantle and this work great and sound excellent.

I am starting to build my first home theatre system and music and movies are equally important to me. I couldn't afford to buy everything at once so the Magnolia Service Rep suggested to start out with these two and a receiver until I can buy more speakers to grow my system. I couldn't be happier with the sound these speakers generate by themselves. I can't wait to add the Sub to it to enjoy more of the bass and lows. You can't go wrong with these speakers with any system. This is big quality for a budget!

    Incredible Speaker, Incredible Value!

I picked up my first pair of Def Tech Pro Monitor 1000's yesterday to go along with my Supercube III Sub and Pro Center 2000 Center Channel speaker. Although I auditioned them with a Denon 2808ci receiver (which I bought a couple of months ago) they sounded even better once I got them home. I replaced huge Boston speakers with these and can't tell you how impressed I am. The size really is deceptive. They sound like MUCH larger speakers. The technology utilized results in a speaker that blows everthing else I listened to out of the water - regardless of price. You owe it to yourself to give these a listen. You definitely will not be disappointed. I have been a Boston Acoustics cheerleader since I bought my first pair in 1983, but I've changed my allegiance. Definitive Technology ROCKS - in every sense of the word. Even their customer service is first rate. I spoke with a Technician before I purchased and he talked me out of larger and more expensive Def Tech speakers. Boy, I'm glad I listened to him!

    Great speakers

The speakers are well built, look good, and sound great. Their size is perfect which allows the easy placement of the speakers on a TV stand or speaker stands. The black glossy finish looks great and will go with any entertainment center. But most importantly the audio quality is great and there is no distortion at high volume.

Do not pass up listening to these

First, and foremeost, if you are in the market for speakers, go out and listen if possible. Compare under like conditions, but as I wrote in my summary, do not pas up listening to these. I already had Definitive Technology experience due to having some in my "man room" and living room. It is my living room speakers I was replacing. I had a Def Tech 60 series (today's 600 series) 5.1 setup in my living room which I felt needed a bit more punch. So, I went out and auditioned several types of speakers and kept coming back to these. I purchased 4. I use them for front and rear lefts and rights. I couldn't be happier. I matched them with a Def Tech Prosub 1000 and a Def Tech Procenter 2000 (BB doesn't sell the 2000). The front stage is amazingly clear and the surrounds are nice and subtle. I have them plugged into a Denon 2310CI allowing the AVR to drive the speakers. Movies are awsome and music, well, its music to my ears! Give these a listen and I do not think you will be sorry.

I bought a pair of the Promonitor 1000's for my rears and let me tell you I get a kick from the rear speakers now. Really small speakers get lost with the size of a room but not with these def tech's.Don’t let the ProMonitor 1000’s small size and affordable price fool you—it is a remarkably sophisticated product with huge sound. The 1000 incorporates many of the same technologies as Definitive’s top-of-the-line models including BDSS drivers, pure aluminum dome tweeters, and planar pressure coupled mid/bass radiators for home theater sound quality that will shock your friends and family when they hear your system for the first time.

    Best bookshelf speaker I've owned

I can say this is the best sounding bookshelf speaker I have ever owned. The sound is awesome. It has a passive speaker included on top that really adds dimension to the sound. I have a more expensive sound system in another room in the house, but my family states that the system that includes this speaker is the best.

I wanted to upgrade my older polk speakers because they didnt sound very good for music.I've had def tech speakers before so I knew of thier quality.I have them connected to a pioneer 125 watt a/v receiver and a polk psw 111 subwoofer. At first the sound on music was good but not great but after about a week of breaking in they really opened up.the sound on music was amazing it sounded like I had a room full of speakers when actually only the front l/r were on,The clarity was very impressive. On movies it was even better. It doesnt seem to matter how much power you send them they can handle it(very impressive indeed). If you want a good set of speakers for music this is a good choice, great movie sound is a bonus.

Having decided to upgrade my embarrassingly old bookshelf setup completely with 4 of these, a matching center, and a new receiver, I went with the Pro1000's since I already had a Pro1000 sub, and the fact that reviews were so excellent. After getting my new and updated 5.1 setup calibrated sound quality was a tad blah. Looking back at the EQ setup after calibration, my Denon 3313 decided to set the fronts at 100hz and the center at 110. After doing a bit of research on AVR forums, as well as looking at the definitive website that these are capable of much lower frequencies, I proceeded to put them at a comfortable 80hz, and the center at 100hz. The room lit up at this point.... BIG difference... but wait, there's more... After doing some single scene tests from Avengers(beginning where Loki comes in) and the Elephant battle scene from LOTR (3rd disc), I realized that after removing my subwoofer from the equation, things sounded a bit dull. Like I was still missing some of the mid's and wasn't getting the punch I wanted. At this point I did what I didn't want to do, upgraded to tower speakers(BP-8020ST), and kept the 4 Pro1000's for sides & rears. NOW my setup feels complete.

These speakers are great! It is like hearing music I'm very familiar with for the first time. They are very clear and responsive. Movies and tv are awesome too! I can't say enough. I listened to full sized speakers that were seven times the price and heard little difference. I have them paired with the pro cinema 800s and couldn't be happier. They look great too. If these speakers are in your budget, get them!

I have 4 of these speakers in my family room as sides and rears in my 7.1 setup. They work great with my front and center mytho speakers. Sound quality is great with music and movies. I have them powered by a Denon 3312 receiver which I also purchased from best buy a while ago. These are great speakers to add in your setup.

I went to 5 Best Buys to test out the sound quality of the speakers, I read many online reviews, Best Buy said I had 90 days to return the speakers so I bought them to replace my Boston Acoustics. Now my son and his friends say they hear sounds in their XBOX games that they never heard before. I highly recommend these speakers.

When I first played a BR I was floored by the amazing sound these speakers put out. I heard sounds in films I had never heard before. And I mean subtle sounds that you can pinpoint we these speakers. 5.1 never sounded so good. Surround sound is amazing. In my opinion, I have the perfect movie theatre in my home. I can't wait to get home from work to rediscover sound with my BR's.
