I have owned this laptop for two weeks and used it everyday in that time. It is quick for my needs, handles multiple open web tabs without any problems. It looks good, the screen is bright and detailed. Good battery life. Sometimes it has frozen up, and needs to be restarted. On a few occasions the camera has gone green screen, but restarting the laptop has fixed it. My main complaint is that the keys are clunky and feel brittle, the keyboard is tiring on my hands. Thankfully, I can attach an external keyboard to one of the two USB ports. Overall, a decent budget Chromebook.

Solid Chromebook - A bit of a learning curve....

For a long time Windows / Mac / Linux user, the natural progression to Chromebook is an attractive one. I have been eyeing one for quite some time and finally took the plunge on this Dell Chromebook with 16gb of storage and 4gb of ram. One has to change their 'attitude' towards what you really need to get work done. For the vast majority of people, a Chromebook or even a Linux desktop machine can work wonders. If all you do is web browsing and editing documents, light image processing, blogging etc, this machine is perfect. A power user like myself, one that has used various flavors of OS's since MSDOS & CP/M, the ChromeOS takes a bit of getting used to. I had to research to get the right apps and chrome webstore applications installed to make the machine usable for day-to-day use, and not all Android Phone apps work on the Chromebook without issues. Things like SSH access, VLC player, Network SMB / Network Harddrive access, Printer access etc takes a bit of research, however, the chrome webstore is quite capable. Sure there are certain applications that I use that won't work out of the box, but it's not a windows machine. For instance, I can't scan PDF documents from my MFC printer which it can print to, or run VMWare Horizon Viewer properly or allow me to run code on the laptop without adding a VM Linux environment. Outside of these shortcomings, this laptop is well worth the price. I may be the exception in some of my requirements, but for the most part, I got things working the way I needed to after a few hours of messing around / googling. This is now my goto machine in my laptop bag along with my Lenovo Yoga (another 11" screen laptop)

The Dell 11.6" Chromebook is a sleek and compact chromebook that packs a punch in terms of performance. The Intel Celeron processor is fast and responsive, and the 4GB memory and 16GB eMMC flash memory make it easy to multitask. One of the best things about this Chromebook is its long battery life. You can use it for hours on end without having to worry about recharging, making it perfect for students, business people, and anyone who needs a reliable laptop on the go. The 11.6" display is crisp and clear, and the keyboard and touchpad are both comfortable to use. The Chromebook is also lightweight and easy to carry, so you can take it with you wherever you go.

My old Acer Chromebook didn't have Google play store so had to purchase this Dell due to it having play store. Also I love that I can split screen on this Chromebook and have 2 applications open which I couldn't do on my older Chromebook. I can watch my ESPN sports or cable news channel while I read email and work so this is truly a upgrade for me. Also great price at 149.00 bucks thanks to Best buy! I don't play games so this lap top is great for me . I also purchased a Logitech mouse great companion it makes working on this Chromebook so much better. I didn't care if it was a touch screen or not I have tablet & mobile phone for all my touch screen like. This product runs smoothly & fast to watch live television or videos on and work at the same time. We have to know what fits us and our life's style when it come to laptops and gadgets these days

    What a Chromebook Should Be

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Great Chromebook for the money, especially for the $129 sale price I got it for. I was especially surprised by its build quality, which is really solid and feels like a quality product. The keyboard feels quite good to type on and the trackpad is smooth and precise. For things most people would use a Chromebook for (browsing, email, word processing, etc.), this thing really flies. It boots up in seconds, pages load quickly, and it's nice to see 4 gigs of RAM when most Chromebooks at this price point only give you 2. Just don't be doing too many things at once, it slows down quite a bit if you try running more than 2 programs at the same time. The screen has a matte finish to it which helps reduce glare and the 768p resolution is fine at this size. Colors are alright although viewing angles leave a lot to be desired, but they obviously had to cut costs somewhere. All in all, if you're a college student like me looking for a low cost machine to write papers, browse the web, and check email, this Dell Chromebook will not disappoint

    For Short Time Use

    The‌ ‌Chromebook‌ ‌11‌ ‌is‌ ‌pretty‌ ‌good,‌ ‌but‌ ‌after‌ ‌a‌ ‌year‌ ‌or‌ ‌two‌ ‌it‌ ‌starts‌ ‌to‌ ‌slow‌ ‌down‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌ keys constantly get stuck. ‌The‌ ‌touchscreen and flexibility of the computer is a very useful feature. Because of those two features, you can turn the computer into a tablet… perfect for school. ‌If‌ ‌you‌ ‌are‌ ‌trying‌ ‌to‌ ‌take‌ ‌a‌ ‌picture‌ ‌using‌ ‌the‌ ‌front‌ ‌camera,‌ ‌the‌ ‌camera‌ ‌quality‌ ‌isn't‌ ‌the‌ ‌best.‌ But, ‌If‌ ‌you‌ ‌are‌ ‌taking ‌a‌ ‌video‌ ‌and doing fast motions, then the video is shot slightly after you do them. ‌I highly‌ ‌recommend‌ ‌just‌ ‌using‌ ‌your‌ ‌‌ ‌phone‌ ‌and‌ ‌then‌ ‌uploading‌ ‌it‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌computer‌ ‌or‌ ‌google‌ ‌drive for better quality. ‌The‌ ‌battery‌‌ lasts‌ ‌approximately 9.5 hours. It has a feature in which the‌ ‌tab‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌bottom‌ ‌right‌ ‌corner‌ ‌ ‌‌ ‌shows‌ ‌how‌ ‌much‌ ‌time‌ ‌is‌ ‌the battery will last until it’s dead.‌ ‌Usually,‌ ‌it’s‌ ‌correct‌ ‌but‌ ‌don't ‌trust‌ ‌it‌ ‌100%.‌ ‌The‌ ‌Chromebook 11 sometimes‌ ‌dies‌ ‌faster‌ ‌than‌ ‌the‌ ‌time states.‌ To charge it from 0% to 100% it takes approximately 2.3 hours. The Chromebook 11 is perfect for traveling because it’s lightweight. If the Chromebook drops without a case, the screen wouldn’t crack… it would just leave a few scratches. But, when you drop it the Chromebook would slowly decrease its quality. ‌If‌ ‌you‌ ‌only‌ ‌need‌ ‌a‌ ‌Chromebook‌ ‌for‌ ‌a‌ ‌year‌ ‌or‌ ‌two,‌ ‌Chromebook‌ ‌11‌ ‌is‌ ‌perfect‌ ‌for‌ ‌you.‌ ‌But,‌ ‌if‌ ‌you‌ ‌want‌ ‌something‌ ‌to‌ ‌last‌ ‌a‌ ‌long‌ ‌time…‌ ‌do not count‌ ‌on‌ ‌Chromebook‌ ‌11 for your tasks.

this is my first chromebook and I'm super happy with it! I just bought this one for an inexpensive writing tool so I really didn't expect much for $150. But I've been pleasantly surprised! I already do my writing in Google Docs, so the ChromeOS has been super convenient and easy to use. The screen resolution took some getting used to, but it could be worse. If you're just looking for a small, portable laptop for simple tasks like writing, chromecasting onto a TV, emails, etc., this is really a great buy.

I had a more expensive Chromebook for my daughter. She broke it. I got this one to have a computer by my bedsite to surf, so I wasn't always moving my laptop around the house. Some things you just can't do comfortably from a phone. So this is perfect for surfing , watching Netflix and taking something light on a trip.

This is a great little Chromebook. It’s my first Chromebook. I was hesitant to buy a Chromebook because I’m accustomed to laptops. I have absolutely no regrets. I don’t even miss the touchscreen. For light, casual use, it’s perfect for the price paid. It’s comfy to carry around and the screen is clear enough. My only complaint so far is the hinge seems to have loosened a little and I’ve only had it a week.

I was skeptical about the idea of Chromebook but honestly I've come around on that point. A locked-down system that, if it does what you need i.e surf net, dead-simple and inexpensive. Great idea on paper. But this one isn't it. I got this one on sale and it works okay. But the display is terrible, off axis even a couple of inches and it becomes almost unreadable. And forget about having even rudimentary music playing which I like to do sometimes. The sound is worse than silence. So if listening to background music from your laptop is a thing for you I'd rule this one out. I just found a used Windows laptop on eBay that was cheaper, way way faster with way better display and sound. So I know there's better out there.
