Hi, I this bought this laptop. It looks nice but I used for couple of days and now it is not turning on. It just say 'please wait' but turned on. I don't understand its problem.

I've been wanting to own a Dell computer because of its reputation for quality and great customer service. Now that I owned one, I am satisfied. The initial set up is easy, the screen looks sharp, keyboard perfect, logging in and out is fast, the battery life is decent (3.5 hrs for multitasking, longer when typing), internet connection is a breeze. I got all I wanted in a laptop. This unit is worth the hard earned money I spent. The Best Buy crew who assisted me was patient and did a very good job. Kudos to Best Buy crews of Mall of St. Matthews.

    Couldn't be happier

I bought a refurbished Inspiron 13 7000 from CowBoom (Best Buy's refurbished brand) for about $540. For this combination of hardware (Core i5, 8GB RAM, 500GB Hybrid HDD) and the killer 1080p IPS display, I definitely got a lot of value. The laptop is not the lightest in the market, but the weight is perfect for me. I dislike ultra-light devices - they don't feel sturdy. The frame is solid and has little flex to it. The keyboard is very comfortable and the spacing between the keys is perfect. The brushed aluminum exterior, the diamond-cut edge, backlit keyboard, glossy screen, and the contrast of the black back make for a stunning laptop. The back of the screen is prone to fingerprints though. The 2-in-1 hinges are sturdy. I upgraded mine to a solid state drive which helped the battery life a bit. I've been averaging 4-5 hours with WiFi on, 50-75% screen brightness, and consistent Internet browsing. Not sure how some reviewers got 9 hours out of this thing, but I'm happy. I don't remember the spec for standby time, but I've left it in standby for several days at a time with minimal battery loss. The touchscreen is fantastically tactile, and paired with Dell's Active Stylus it makes for a effortless handwriting experience. Speaking of the screen - it's beautiful. It's one of the better IPS screens I've laid my eyes on. Other models in this price range offered a 720p IPS screen, and I highly recommend against that if you don't want your eyes to bleed every time you open this bad boy up to get your social networking fix. The charger is very compact, the cord is long, and it doesn't set nearby objects on fire. The side-mounted sleep and volume buttons took adjustment, but they make a lot of sense now. I wouldn't have it any other way. If you're thinking about taking the plunge for a 2-in-1, this is your laptop. Haters gonna hate - I absolutely see a lot of value in these devices. I'm a believer and will continue to invest in them in the future. Complaints: -The bezel around the screen is too thick. Acer's 14" 2-in-1 is the same size with a larger screen. I wish Dell had made the device smaller or crammed a 14" screen in instead. -Touchpad isn't my favorite, but the touchpad on my HP Envy 14 I had previously was VERY good, so my standards are high -It's really hard to open with one hand -It doesn't always lay flat in tablet mode. I find myself putting pressure on the bottom part of the screen to get it to lay completely flat -I wish it had a display port alongside the HDMI port

My first laptop was Dell Inspiron, bought in India. My second laptop was this one, bought in the US. Thought will perform as great as the first one. Failed miserably, very slow for everything. Hate this to the core.

Wonderful little tablet, no long doing graduate studies, and no longer needing a work horse for work. This little guy is light, somewhat powerful, operates flawless actually. I have had my system for exactly one month now. Although I love this thing, there has been one problem which started nearly a week ago... that being the screen resolution/brightness or lack of. I contacted Dell support about the issue, very frustrating, it is so dim that at night I can barely make out images or writing on screen. The problem appears to be getting worse, both while running on battery or plugged in. Much to Dells credit, after having attempted to resolve and trouble shoot problem, I have been assigned a replacement number and a new system of equal or better will be sent out to me shortly. Overall, other than the issue with the screen going out, a wonderful little system

Seems great but some annoying glitches/interface

The computer has great stats and feels like it'd function well on first examination, but i experienced too many problems right off the bat within the first week of use. 1) This is an i5 processor and it runs slower than my old Toshiba i3 processor from 2010. It is slower in startup, opening programs, shutting down, etc and this was apparent before I even bogged it down with my own programs and downloads. 2) It disconnects from wifi too frequently (about once a week) where it shows no available wifi networks even though I'm on a college campus where there are hundreds of wifi signals within a half mile radius. It won't reconnect or even show wifi signals are available unless I restart the laptop, which is frustrating like right now when I'm in class.. leading me to write this instead of take notes. 3) The sound fades out when listening to music or especially when watching videos. I can still hear the sound very, very faintly, and it only lasts about 3 seconds, but why should a brand new product be defective like this already? 4) The mouse pad kind of sucks. Pressing down the pointer jumps around too much and it's hard when you need sensitive clicking/moving things around. (Simple fix - I bought a wireless mouse). Also the clicking just feels poorly manufactured and almost sticks sometimes or feels like it will break. 5) Screen brightness has a narrow range. Too bright at night. 6) No CD drive or ethernet port (I knew that when buying, just a downside now that I realize my home wifi sucks and I need these features) Good things: doesnt seem to overheat, nice touch screen interface but would be nice if there was an option so it wasnt sensitive to hand touch and only stylus (making it easier to write notes), backlit keyboard, pretty light weight and easy/fluid conversion to tablet mode (except that there's no screen keyboard option on the official tablet mode - makes no sense to me), great battery life, and probably some other things. However I'm just frustrated that I'm having all of these problems IMMEDIATELY after buying it and BestBuy or GeekSquad probably won't be able to help me.

I COULDN'T HAVE CHOSEN A BETTER PRODUCT! I'M THE TYPE TO DO MAJOR RESEARCH BEFORE MAKING AN EXPENSIVE PURCHASE TO ENSURE MY HARD EARNED MONEY IS SPENT WISELY. AFTER VISITING THE BEST BUY STORE IN MY AREA SEVERAL TIMES AND CHECKING OUT VARIOUS WEBSITES I DECIDED TO GO WITH THIS PARTICULAR DELL. IT WAS ON SALE, NOT A HUGE DISCOUNT BUT EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS. IT HAS THE MOST RECENT GENERATION i5 CORE PROCESSOR, IT HAS AC WIFI, AND ITS SMALL ENOUGH TO TOTE AROUND YET BIG ENOUGH TO DO WHAT I NEED DONE! THE SCREEN IS CLEAR AND CRISP, SUPER RESPONSIVE, AND THE COLORS ARE AMAZING! THE BACKLIT KEYS ARE A PLUS! THIS HAS EVERYTHING I NEED TO CARRY ME FOR YEARS TO COME INCLUDING BLUETOOTH!! THANKS DELL!!!

I really enjoyed the computer. The setup was slow but it came fully charged out of the box with 8 hours of battery life! Really loved how small it was for portability and I have small hands so the keys were perfect. I use blackboard through it with no problems at all. Although it was fine and dandy at the beginning, not even 24 hours later does the computer have a problem. The screen is black and is unresponsive. Maybe I just got a defective model but I'm returning it anyway.

Solid performance, but some heat issues

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

For the most part, the laptop is working great for me. I've run a karaoke show from it with no delays or memory issues. It's lightweight, has plenty of features and is (mostly) intuitively designed. I still have some issues with scrolling on the touch pad but I'm getting used to it. My only real concern is from a heat perspective. While the temperature is fine when it's not being used, it frequently spikes quite a bit during even casual use to the point that it's not always comfortable to even have it sitting on your lap. It gives me some doubts about the reliability of the hardware over the long run. Still, for the price, I don't regret my purchase and would still recommend it.

A Great Step Up from my Netbooks

Although I love this laptop it was listed by BB as Manufacturer Refurbished but I think it was merely returned, boxed and sent to me as it had a bad battery that could not be charged. Once I got Dell on the phone and they remotely tested it they sent an Fedex overnight box to me to send the computer to their repair facility in Houston. Less than a week after putting it in a box I got it back with a 100% battery and upgraded it to Windows 10 to customize it for my devices. I am very happy with Dell service and this computer.

Loved this laptop when I first purchased it. It was light, fast, had great screen resolution, etc. Within the first week it started making a loud clicking noise. This was in addition to the loud fan that sounded like the laptop was going to take off at any moment. Returned to best buy and they advised it had a bad hard drive. Laptop was shipped out to be fixed and returned back to me within 3 weeks. Unfortunately, that did no fix the loud clicking noise and best buy was uncertain of what the issue was. Needless to say, I had to return the laptop.

I bought this laptop three weeks ago from Best Buy. It was okay so far (except the problem on microphone- the voice was dying away and then going back to normal). Today, when I opened my laptop I received a message like this:''the AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. the battery may not charge''. I don't know what it means.

I really wanted a 1TB SSD so I upgraded after the fact and love the new drive. It really turns this machine into a power house; however, the rubber strips on the bottom of this machine are glued on and will come off very quickly. Dell will not cover these under the warranty - even though the machine is only 1 month old (which doesn't make me feel very comfortable that Dell will support other aspects of the hardware).

Pros: 1) Crisp screen - full HD (1080p). Responsive touchscreen 2) Good, loud sound 3) New i5 - 5th generation processor 4) Good trackpad, keyboard 5) WIFI works well (AC) 6) Both RAM and HD are upgrade-able. Cons: 1) Cooling fans can kick in at various times and then shuts off: waking from sleep, watching flash videos, surfing internet. This became too annoying for me to put up with. 2) Backlighting keyboard will come on after waking from sleep (even if it wasn't on before). 3) Although crisp screen, its brightness is just o.k. Could have problem if you want to use it in daylight. In the end, I returned this unit because of the annoying fan.

    Sound defect with software problems

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'm so upset that Dell has some manufacturing problems or batch problems (no idea which one it is but its a defect) with what could have been an awesome product. This is the 2nd time I 've returned the same model and a brand new one and experienced the exact same problems. Sound/audio goes from normal volume to SOFT for 2 secs and goes back to normal. This repeats every 5-10 mins of audio play. I checked to see if it was the website itself but the problem still perists. Also, another problem it gave me was a pop up notification of "Display driver stopped responding, Driver has recovered" then the screen blacks out for 5-10 secs and goes back to normal. I really liked this model so much that I did not want to change to another brand as Best buy didn't have much options beside the ASUS flip that has the same specs. But I knew it was a manufacturer defect as it was my 2nd brand new laptop I switched out for. Went to geeksquad to investigate and they reset the display driver, this worked and no more black outs. However, the problem with the sound system is still there. Geeksquad said they couldn't see any problems with the sound card but I kept telling them they had to play the audio to see it. Will be going back tomorrow to return it. Tried 2 laptops and they both had the same problem so I 'm not gonna waste my time to try a 3rd one. Really loved this model, what a waste. Dell, please fix this.

I really liked the computer itself, but within days had same problem as in other reviews where the screen would go blank. I thought maybe it was a fluke, but it continued more frequently (sometimes blue and sometime black screen). I only used it for school work, no videos, no watching movies, or downloads, etc. so I don't know why it did this. I had to return it.

    Terrible computer

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've only had this computer for about 5 days and it's already not working. In those 5 days, it's had to update at least twice and no internet connections (ethernet or wifi) work without the update being done. The touchpad doesn't work with most apps and when it does work, the scrolling is jumpy and inconsistent. The right click only works about half the time. The touchscreen itself is not very precise and it's hard to click on something if it's small or if there are links above and/or below it Additionally, the sound quality is horrible; the speakers are on the inside of the computer and sound muffled and always echo, making it hard to hear the lyrics when listening to music and hard to hear the dialogue when watching a movie. There is also no CD/DVD drive, which I didn't realize when I bought it Lastly, it nearly constantly asks me to back up the computer and install protective hardware to protect my files in the event of a crash, which feels ominous and like it's going to happen soon. The anti-virus program frequently pops up and tells me that certain sites, such as my university's site, are not safe and that my internet connection (also done through my university) is not safe. This computer has a lot of shortcomings and is not suitable for the work I need it for, which is primarily schoolwork and secondarily for my job
