||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am so disappointed with Dell Laptops especially this one. The keypad freezes all the time. Also, it would just go blank even though it’s plugged in to an outlet.

Thanks for your feedback on your new Dell system. If you'd like to troubleshoot the Blue Screen errors that you are getting you can follow these steps:
1. At the desktop, click the Search the web and Windows box and type "problem reports".
2. Select View all problem reports to view a list of errors that have occurred on your computer and possible solutions for them, such as updating drivers, flashing your system BIOS, or checking for updates to the software.
3. Under the Source column, look for Windows and under Summary, look for Shut down unexpectedly.
4. Right-click the line item and select Check for a solution.
We'd also suggest checking to make sure that your software and drivers are up to date on Dell's Product Page - https://dell.to/2KvXWfQ.

Only One Complaint
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this laptop for a little over a year now. It's the first laptop I'd ever purchased. I chose Dell, because I've had several Dell desktops and they always worked well for me. Overall, it's what I was hoping for. Solid specs at an affordable price(I bought it on Black Friday). I mostly use it for web browsing and photo editing. It's been a very good laptop for what I needed it for. The one complaint I have is the battery life. After reading other reviews, it seems to be a common complaint. I've read about others being able to get 5-6 hours of usage off a charge. I've never been lucky enough to experience that. Even when I use energy saver settings and lower the brightness, I still only average about 2.5-3 hours. I don't understand why. I don't use a lot of programs and I'm not a gamer. So when I read about others getting 5+ hours of usage, I'm actually quite jealous. I wish I could somehow improve this. For now, I'll continue to settle with this until the time comes to upgrade my laptop.

Solid Computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My previous laptop, a 6 year old HP Envy with 17 inch screen, stopped booting up. After a week of research for a replacement and using my tablet, I went looking for a replacement at all the main on line computer stores, HP, Dell, Asus, etc... I have always been open to AMD processors and have owned a few in the past. The new AMD Ryzen CPUs with integrated graphics have shown promising benchmarks at a much lower cost than Intels offering, so off to Best Buy I went. Best Buy had a Ryzen 5 with 8 MB, SSD and VEGA GPU on display, this was a little less than I wanted. I was looking for 16 MB ram with a Ryzen 5 processor. After talking with the sales rep, he said the Ryzen 7 laptop was on sale, and they had one in stock. Wow, 12 MB of RAM, Ryzen 7, 256 GB SSD, what more could I ask for, except it only had a 13 inch display. Needless to say, the laptop had almost everything I was looking for except the display was smaller than I wanted, but the price was just right. Well, 2 weeks after purchasing this laptop, I have zero regrets. The time from a cold start to windows 10 desktop is less than 15 seconds. The power of this laptop not only replaces my old laptop, but could replace most desktop computers as well. This thing is a steal at this price. Would highly recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a casual gaming laptop, video editing, internet browsing, etc... No regrets. I would give it 6 stars if I could.

Perfect School Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is perfect for a college student. It's light, thin, sturdy and easily portable. The only negative I'd say it has (at least in my personal case) is that it sometimes freezes in the middle of my work and I have to restart it. Luckily, all my work seems to be saved, so I haven't lost anything....yet. One think I don't really understand is why they'd have the normal keyboard volume buttons AND a pair of side buttons on the right of the laptop. That just seems silly to me.

LOVE this laptop!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased the Ryzen 7 version of this notebook and I absolutely love it. I have been a DELL fan since my college days (when you could only buy a DELL over the phone) and I am super excited that there are so many DELL options out there. I went into the store planning to buy intel, but the blue shirt convinced me to try Ryzen 7, which is the AMD equivalent to the intel i7. Not only do I love the size and design of the computer, it's super fast and the picture gorgeous! My son games a little bit and has has tried a few games on it and he said it's awesome! Don't hesitate on this product - it's awesome!

Good all around but
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer its an great buy at around 600, for professionals it sure will be an good working machine, but for the persons that seek more than it like playing games and are after one portable machine, it can get hot ... although mine after i setup in Bios for fans turn on only after cpu temps are over 75 degree , its being quit for some time... but if you push it it will get warm and loud, this is the downside on this module, and also even if it as more tdp and custom tdp it wont help on pushing it further, it just wont go over what you are expecting it if you are buying this for gaming,,, The only other downsize for me, its the lack of an ssd bay, and the screen in my case its tearing in the bottom badly seen only in black images , Dell quality this last years as been very poor in the screens aspect .

Excellent machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought a certified open box geek squad which saves me from $799 to 640$. It was totally worth it. Delivery took a week but it you are not in a rush it is worth it. About the Laptop I bought this laptop because of the ports. I plan to use it for work and school. I needed HDMI and type C USB. Most of the gadget nowadays are using type C USB ports. I like the backlit keyboard. It has face detection easy set up. i always connect to the outlet so the battery is not an issue to me. I would say it has 5 to 8 hours if normal use for battery like web surfing, emails and some youtube videos. I was amaze on how faast it is. take around 20 sec start up and also shutdown. and commands and usage are super fast. faster laptop i used. I have been using it for a 1 week now. and is still no issue still. nice HD display too. I plan to use it for games some times. Overall, if was beyond my expectation. I hope to use this llaptop for 4 to 5 years.

Good laptop, way to go AMD!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't understand why there are so much hate for this laptop, I stress test it for 4 days straight and there is nothing that my Lenovo intel laptop do that this DELL AMD laptop can't do! I also bought additional 8GB ram and 512 GB SSD M.2 for less than $100! Bought this open box since it seems DELL stop making Ryzen 7. Note though, I have to wipe install everything straight out when I received this laptop, so my review is based on my own windows install. Maybe that is part of the reason I have a good impression since I don't have to deal with original win 10 that came with DELL Laptop? And btw, vega 10 in this machine can take game like GTA V pretty well, got 30-40 fps on 720p setting. All in all, 16GB total memory, 512 GB M.2, quad core with total 8 threads, have above average onboard graphic performance as evidenced by GTA V experiment, in 13 inch 2 in 1 laptop and less than $700? I would say this thing is a very good deal in May 2019!

Very Pleased
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this laptop for 6 weeks and couldn't be happier. To say it is fast is an understatement. Boots fast, runs fast and is quiet. I have not had any of the fan noise issues some have mentioned. We did not buy it for playing games but it is more than capable if needed to do so. There is plenty of ram for multitasking and the SSD boots windows in about 20 seconds. Battery life is better than average and the screen is beautiful. My wife uses it for daily work in the IT world and we take it on vacation with us when we go. Bought an optional LG USB blu-ray player and it plays any disk smoothly with no fan noise from the CPU. The AMD Ryzen 4 core 8 thread CPU along with the AMD Vega 10 graphics seen to handle any load without a hiccup and the HDMI output allows us to drive large displays and TV's when we need a larger screen. We see this Dell laptop as both beautiful and functional and consider this a long term investment. I highly recommend this laptop.

Tends to crash
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop about two months ago. Since then it has crashed repeatedly. I'm still trying to determine the cause; it only happens when I am using applications that I personally installed onto this computer. I think it may be the fan -- which seems pretty useless, by the way, so make sure you have your own portable laptop fan or similar to cool down your laptop. All in all, this is a good laptop. This is a fast computer that loads webpages quickly and never buffers while playing a video. Also, the sound quality is AMAZING, especially with headphones.

Great Ryzen Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a Ryzen laptop this seems to be one of the best going today. My first unit had a bad wireless nic that would disappear intermittently, I exchanged for a new unit and have not had issues since. It may run warm but nothing out of the ordinary for the work load I'm putting on it. It comes equipped with an M2 SSD, and dual channel ram which has been an issue with many of the devices on the market as they are shipping with single channel. The form factor is solid for someone that travels with the device, I like the convertible aspect, and the body of the laptop looks and feels sturdy. Battery life seems decent and this is going to be a great workstation to replace my work laptop that recently died. I look forward to my first few trips with it.

Great Laptop, but noise and heating kills it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Laptop at a great price and was hoping I was not going to be left with the same issues I had with the previous Dell Laptop of similar design i purchased. Upgraded Specs and SSD, with 12 GB of RAM at $600 with Student Discount was great. EXCEPT, It had the same exact issues I had with the last one. The fan was ALWAYS on. It was a Heat magnet as well. I returned it the next day as I did not even get to install any of my personal programs or even Google Chrome to browse anything. Once I heard that fan going all out on start up I knew it was going to stay on. Even after updating all Dell Updates for BIO and the AMD Graphics card, it still had the fan problem. Back to Best Buy you go! I really wanted you to work, but I did not want to waste my time on something as simple as being quiet.

Overall stunningly beautiful and powerful
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved the look of this notebook, having been to my local store to check it out and then ended up buying it online. The store staff explained the performance and benifits of Ryzen 7 to me very well and to be honest when I got it, I found it much more powerful than my 1year old i7 notebook! I use this for photo editing on Photoshop for my part time business which is more than powerful!

Constantly Freezing, Avoid
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked this up a few days ago and its frozen three time already. I see that others have experienced the same issue and I am about to take this back to the store. It's a real shame because the PC is really nice. It feels quality, performs really well and I purchased it at a great price. I am a techie and so I am pretty sure theres either a driver issue or some hardware issue happening here. It even froze during my initial set up work. I have barely set this PC up for my girlfriend and all it has been used for is browsing the internet. It froze while doing so. It's not been put under any serious load. I ran the Dell Utility and updated all the drivers, including the BIOS. I have also applied every Windows 10 update available. It still freezes! Returning this. Real shame.

Posted .carpendj,
Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that your computer keeps freezing on you. Have you tried these steps?
1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below:
a) Start the computer.
b) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.)
c) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter.
d) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access.
e) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete step 3 to see if you are able to resolve the lockups or freezing.
3. Check for Malware. Malware (Virus, Spyware, etc.) can definitely cause a Windows system to lock up or appear to hang. To check for malware on your system and to ensure that your computer is up to date on security software, visit Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2wWP1zI.
