Strong laptop that still works well

Good laptop for its time. The nvidia card is strong enough, even in 2023 to run stable diffusion and render images in under 4 minutes. I like that ot has dual drives i have upgraded the ssd an nvme drives on my own. The drawback is the fans on the thing. The fans were not given enough space, so they make a lot of racket

Bought this unit based on good previous Dell experiences. This unit had bad sound drivers, speakers or something. BB exchanged unit and same thing. Finally exchanged it for an HP unit that am happy with. Read online that the sound problem was a KNOWN issue.

    Great Entry Level Gaming Laptop!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have had this laptop now for about 30 days and I absolutely love it and could not be happier with my purchase. I bought it from my local store and it was on sale for $1100 instead of the $1200 price point. I would highly recommend waiting for a sale because saving 100$ can buy you some accessories for the laptop (separate keyboard, mouse, external display, etc..). I am going to do a further review and a more detailed review later down the road once I have really put this thing to the test. But i would definitely recommend this laptop for someone who is looking to both game and multitask very efficiently. I get roughly 60 fps on average on a pretty high graphics game. (Tom Clancy's Wildlands) and thats on pretty decent settings (high to very high). I personally don't ultra setting but you could, you just get less fps. I would say around 45-50 Average. But for a beginner 60fps and high graphics is well enough and looks awesome and runs great! Hope this helps someone make a purchase if iffy on this laptop. I Love it! Side note I run an external display, and use it as my main display. A HP 23f and highly recommend having 2 displays. Some people say the cons of this laptop are noise, screen quality and the screen bezel appearance. Personally when this laptop is in full load the fans do run loud yes, but what do you expect its a gaming laptop and thats what its designed for. Of course it will run loud but its doing its job and cooling the laptop well. Frankly, the noise of the fans do not bother me at all, and if you have a headset on you do not hear it at all. When the laptop has little to no load on it it is very very quiet and you can barely hear it at all. As for the screen quality i personally think its very good. the brightness is very good and i dont mind the bezel at all.. most gaming laptops always have that and i personally like it. And yes the screen quality isnt amazing compared to some ultra hd screens that laptop have now a days but compared to my Toshiba Satellite laptop this 1080p HD display blows it out of the park. I personally think the screen quality is great for gaming. Also the screen is 60Hz refresh rate so that may be a factor in gaming for you. But personally the 60Hz is just fine for entry level gaming. Especially because you wont get 100+ fps anyways on high graphics games so a 144Hz isn't that necessary. Keyboard is great too have no complaints there at all. The Backlight for the keyboard does turn off after 1 minute of inactivity but you can change it to stay on permanently in the BIOS Menu. Okay thats all im writing for now. Will update later when i have owned this device for longer.

The fan makes noise since day one. Initially I though it is only when my son play some game that needs lots of processing power. Later on I realized it is not the case. With time past the noise get more louder and annoying.

      PartPram,

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that your computer's fan noise is louder than you hoped it would be. We'd recommend updating the BIOS on your computer to help with this noise: An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer. You can also follow up with our Technical Support Team here - 1-800-624-9896.

Amazing Gaming & Doubles as a Work Powerhouse!

I LOVE this laptop. My favorite features: 10-key pad, ice blue accents, fresh off the manufacturing Intel 8th gen chip with Hex Drive, backlit keyboard, vivid anti-glare screen, sleek black color, SSD + 1 TB HDD, GeForce GTX 1060. There is just so much this laptop offers. It is SUPER appealing to the eyes, very sleek lines, great black and ice blue color scheme, G7 chrome labeling. It feels very well made and solid. The game play is exceptional, colors on screen are vivid and bright, sound is clear and crisp, game play is smooth without any drops or latency. Dell seriously outdid themselves building this machine. It offers everything I have been looking for in a gaming laptop for years. Everything combined, this is an exceptional deal on a very well made laptop. I also use this for home & work tasks. It performs superbly. I can even have several programs, web windows open at the same time as game play and there is no drag. It powers through like butter.

This has been a great laptop. I use it daily for college. It handles my Sims4 game with hella mods! The only bad thing would be it didn't have enough C drive space. I ended up installing a 1TB drive. I bought it in 2018, and it's still going strong!

I was originally going to get a Lenovo Legion Y530 but then i came across this laptop. I was sold in 5 min. Its a nice slim laptop, with some really really good specs! I've had it a month now and I have no complaints at all. All the complaints about heat and battery life weren't even that severe. I can run basically any game at 60fps without an issue. I highly recommend its totally worth it.

    DOA, Battery Swelled first day

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Today I picked up a new dell G7 15 to replace a very dated latitude. The specs were 16 gb ram, i7, 128 gb ssd with the 1 tb hdd. I had it for about 2 hours. After initially installing apps and moving some java files over I went to reboot to see how fast the SSD would boot up. It took several minutes and then got stuck on a black screen. I rebooted, again, Black screen. After a few more boots it finally loaded windows. I decided to unplug it and continue working in a different room. After about 30 minutes of scrolling the battery fell from 100% to 46% and the fans were kicking on and off. I rebooted again and to no surprise, Black screen. I took it back to Best Buy customer service who mentioned it was very hot, although off. I had them hold it while I picked out another computer and upon returning they said they put it in a bucket of sand after discovering the battery was bloating. Is this an isolated issue? I had read dell has been experiencing some QC issues but sheesh. TLDR; Bought a new G7, was pretty much DOA, Best Buy customer service found bloating battery

First off - this is for Best Buy: This is a G-series laptop, NOT an Inspiron. Okay, now for the review: this is a killer of a deal. The build quality is great, it's super fast, and it can run pretty much any game with ease. If you're in the market for a solid/powerful computer and you don't want to spend $2,000+, get this one.
