Please understand this is not a fully capable laptop. It is essentially a netbook. It's great for running Microsoft office, email, web browsing, reading, and online classes. There is plenty of software that it will not run, multitasking doesn't work very well, and you can't load very much onto it. It has excellent battery life, and as long as you work within its limitations it's pretty useful. You will likely have to load all of your music and files onto an external drive.

Brought as a Christmas present for my nephew who's in the eleventh grade. After day one, the computer would not operate. The monitor did not come on. Asked the geek squad and they said to return it for a refund

Nice little laptop running Xubuntu 16.04

I picked this up as to have a lightweight web surfer for carrying around the house. I didn't really want to keep the Windows 10 that shipped on it, so I am giving Xubuntu a try. 14.04 had some issues with crackling sounds over the speaker due to driver issues with intel hd audio, but these seem to have been ironed out with ver. 16.04. It's okay as a web surfer and running lightweight applications. Better with an external mouse. I am having some issues with the mouse and keyboard going a little wacko at times. Not sure what can be done to fix that. Maybe the Win10 that ships with the system would be better in that regard. If you want to run linux off of a live usb or sd card, that's not a bad way to go if you just want to try out linux, although the system would make an annoying beep at the menu when booting up from the live usb (the loud beep does not appear to be something you can prevent in the bios, only way I could see would be disconnecting the pc speaker which I didn't want to do). Installing to the onboard drive took some additional research, but I can make that easy for you by letting you know to go into the BIOS and change some of the boot settings to make it work. Just go to the Dell website and search out the KB article entitle 'How to install Ubuntu developer edition on a Dell PC configured for the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) BIOS'. If anyone can figure out how to make the browser better behaved when typing in web forms, that would be good to know. As it is, it tends to do some unpredictable things if you start typing too quickly. If I can resolve issues with the keyboard/mouse then I'll post a follow-up with any configuration tweaks that help with this. Battery life is excellent. Wireless seems good.

I purchased this as a quick replacement for my Toshiba that stopped working and if you have to use it frequently or open multiple browsers it can really lag and freeze and it runs out of space really fast. Otherwise it is fashionable and easy to carry and suits my needs.

Pretty happy with it so far

Pretty happy with this computer so far. For $150, I didn't really expect to much. Actually I expected it to be almost completely useless. It has been my experience that windows barely runs with less than 4 gigs of ram so with only two gigs of ram in this thing I kind of half expected it to be slower than molasses in winter and locking up, freezing, crashing the whole time. I actually bought HP's almost identical version of this at a different big box store but this was $50 bucks cheaper so I returned that and got this. Windows Update went to install today and basically told me that there wasn't enough free space on my hard drive to installe the updates. I had already uninstalled everything I didn't want on there so the only two things that were really on there were Google Chrome and Microsoft Office. As it was, Windows 10 was still taking up 23 gigs of the 27 or so that make up the entiriety of the formatted drive. Luckily I had the foresight to buy a 64 gig removable drive that this computer accepts. It installed whatever files it needed to on that drive and then once it was done, cleaned everyuthign up and left me with about the same amount left on my hard drive that Ihad before. God forbid that I should ever want to install a couple more programs on this computer I don't think that would be able to. And this is with me already moving OneDrive to the SD card. Other than the size of the hard drive the only thing I dont like about this computer is that touchpad. It's impossible to type on this computer and not have the heel of your had hit the touch pad. When you do this it moves the cursor and you end up entering text somewhere other than where you intended until the next time you look at the screen. This is true of every laptop I have used lately, they all have this problem but most of them can have this problem resolved with external keyobards and mice. This laptop is one used for portability so you're not going to carry around a whole lot of externals for it. I would recommend this product to anyone who doesn't have $400+ to spend on a laptop. Maybe you would be happier with a chromebook, maybe you wouldn't. but if your price point is $150-$200 then you should definitely take a look at this dell.

I had originally attempted to give this item 3 stars. However due to the fact that I lost connection 3 times I had to change it to 2 stars. The other stars lost from being a five star item is due to its limitations. I did a reasonable amount of research on this item on Best Buys site, Dells site, and 3rd party sites. Dell and 3rd party sites stated this item was relatively easy to upgrade. Since it does have a low amount of RAM and storage I felt confident buying this item knowing I, having a working knowledge of simple upgrades such as adding RAM, would be able to make this item more suitable for the tasks I needed it to perform. I ordered 8 Gb of Ram to clip in for a quick fix. I put off storage upgrade for a bit. Glad I did. When I opened it up to clip in the RAM, what I saw did not match what even Dells manual shows. The RAM is now SOLDERED in, not a clip as I am familiar with. I am not that comfortable with this type of upgrade, and I returned the RAM. Dell stated this is a new change they performed. I don't think I will be upgrading this any time soon and I am stuck with its limitations. 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage (internal), after Windows 10 does its updates and I added a few programs I have 8 GB left. Not a very good outlook for the lifespan of this netbook. I can only assume the recent reduction in price coincides with the recent changes in the construction of this netbook. I guess with this product you really do get what you pay for and that's it.

    Great Netbook

This is a great little laptop if you're looking for something to toss in a bag and mostly do light web-browsing / email / basic tasks. Most laptops / Netbooks in this price range lack a decent display / touch pad / decent keyboard. However, I was quite impressed with the viewing angles of the TN display and overall build quality of this little Netbook. The Display is a a nice matte (anti-glare) that is bright and accurate, they keyboard is comfortable for an 11" and the touch pad is also decent as well. If you know what you're doing; I recommend removing all the pre-installed bloatware (Dell Registration / Dell Help and Support / Etc) as well as McAfee since it is only the trial and Windows 10 already has a free anti-virus built in. It's a tiny little dual-core processor so removing all the unnecessary stuff keeps CPU usage low so you can actually watch YouTube videos without stuttering. I use "Pale Moon" as my web browser and it works great on this computer. Pale Moon is a very lightweight browser that won't bog down your CPU / Ram like chrome. I also turned off the majority of visual tweaks in Windows 10 to increase performance further. Battery life is AMAZING! Seriously, used it all day and had 55% left when I went to plug in.. Speakers are pretty poor, but can be improved with the Dell Audio manager.. I selected "gaming" and they are louder, but not that great.. I just use it for transferring files between devices at work mostly and helping customers reset their passwords. It's a great laptop for its price. I still like my previous HP Stream better tho, except this does have a much better display. Consider this a great "burner" laptop and not the laptop you'll be using for the next 6years... Lol

I don't normally post reviews but I feel like I needed to for this little laptop. I was excited to get this laptop to use very lightly (emails, browsing and streaming videos). Presentation wise, beautiful color and very light weight! It's a nice little laptop when it comes to looks, performance wise is another story. I didn't expect much for the price when I purchased it. I only wanted something really lite to use for casual streaming and Internet browsing, nothing fancy since I have my other laptop for the heavy use. Unfortunately I'm returning this laptop after just a few hours of using. I tried to check email and have three tabs open in my browser, yea that completely froze down the computer. I know you can't have multiple things running but I figured at least 3 Internet tabs would be more than enough...nope...extremely slow to load pages, even to stream videos. It would work best only if you have one thing open at a time. This day and age we have at least two things running at the same time. I had my settings open, task manager and Internet browser open, that froze everything up. Once I closed one of them it started to work again. I was hopeful for this one, especially for the price point but unfortunately it's getting returned. Not even 24hrs later.
