Originally, we were interested in a Chromebook, but it required interface to the web, and she couldn't count on having that at the site of her group gatherings. It has an older Intel chip, but seems to run Windows 10 just fine. It also has three USB ports, which is more than comparable laptops of other brands. We really haven't tested battery life yet, but it supposedly will run for 4-6 hours w/o recharge. A good buy for slightly less than $150!

Posted .yskim - Thanks for your review and for your Dell laptop purchase for your son. If you'd like it to run a little faster you can try to remove some of the pre-installed software on the computer that he may not have a need for.

Posted .Hello omegasupreme1 - Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that the battery life is a little shorter than you had planned. Here are a few tips to hopefully increase the lifespan of your battery - Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
1) Click on the Action Center icon within the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
2) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
3) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
4) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links. 5) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
6) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.
