I bought this for my husband who only wanted a small computer for short term daily internet use. It was not good from the box. I am pretty good with computers but this one was a lost cause. Took forever to turn on, internet sites could take minutes to load or not load at all.

I really hate this item. I was hoping to have it purely for word processing (typing Microsoft Word and Excel), but it did not even really do that very well. It also broke down right away and I had to exchange it for another. The new one was not really any better.

Where do I start? The color is sooo cute in bali blue. SOOO sad it didn't work out :( The laptop barely worked. It is SO SLOW. It took forever to turn on, to open the internet...even typing was delayed. It took it so long to type what I was typing or erase it. Good price, good color - TERRIBLE computer. I only wanted it to do homework, browse & answer emails - couldn't even work for that. Would NOT recommend!

    Just what I expected

I bought this netbook because of its small size and light weight. I use it on my lap to do email, web surf, and watch TV and Netflix. It does all of those things well. I am replacing a same size Acer Aspire which worked well for 6 years, but just did not have enough processor speed to handle Windows 10 without some compromises. This little Dell does the job just fine. Out of the box it needed about 12 hours to do all of the Windows updates. And you will need a usb thumb drive with at least 10 GB of free space to install the latest Win10 major update. There is only about 5 GB of free space on the internal solid state hard drive as delivered. That is why the thumb drive is needed. After all the updates were completed I removed all the bloatware and managed to produce almost 9 GB of free hard drive space. It displays web pages quickly and plays Netflix and TV via a Spectrum app with no hesitation, or buffering. I don't ask it to do more than 1 thing at a time. The touch pad works well, much better than the one it is replacing. The sound quality is better than the Acer and loud enough for personal viewing. I tried the Skype and the camera is adequate for face to face conversations. So far I have only installed a handful of programs...Chrome browser and C Cleaner. Overall I am quite pleased. It is definitely fast enough for my needs and a good value. I have read many reviews about how slow the machine is. I think much of that disappointment may be from not understanding that this machine cannot install updates and work at the same time. Users should learn to view the task manager and see what their machine is doing before they condemn its performance.

    32 GB Fails

    Posted .

The market seems to be flooded with these 11.6" laptops of failed design. The failed design will show it's ugly face when the user attempts to update Windows 10. The (now well known) issue with these laptops and all other similar laptops that are being sold with a 32GB eMMC internal (non-upgradable) drive is that when they are sold with Windows 10, the operating system takes up most of the space on the drive. Right out of the box (brand new), mine failed to perform a major Windows 10 update/upgrade due to the fact that it required 8GB of free space, and the brand new laptop only had 5GB available. I installed a 32GB SD card, then learned that Windows absolutely will not install any updates or upgrades to the SD card, only to the internal 32GB eMMC drive. After confirming this with Microsoft, I ended up having to install a third-party app that basically turns off Windows updates since Windows 10 does not allow turning updates off like past Windows versions did. There is no option to turn off Windows 10 updates. Microsoft blamed the laptop's designers for selling a laptop with Windows 10 installed with only a 32GB eMMC drive when it should have been designed with a 64GB eMMC drive. I have seen these 11'6" laptops being sold with the Chrome OS (based on Linux) and users do not mention the same issue, however, I would never recommend this laptop to anyone with Windows 10 installed. I learned the hard way. Buyer beware!

The Best Bare Bones Laptop You Don't Know About

    Posted .

Light & zips around on the internet, IMO, the best under - $200 laptop you can buy. Yes, it only has a 32GB storage capacity - of which only 5 are really usable. I fixed that by stripping every needless bloated app that has been pre-downloaded. Gone was the McAfee, then turned on Microsoft Defender, Gone was the Dell software, gone was the pre-installed games, gone was Office. Going bare bones on the little lap top is when the magic really happens I now have just over 10GB of storage - more than enough capacity - my Dell is now light and very fast on the internet. Buy this now!
