S Mode: Illegitimate Windows 11 License

The “S Mode” is not a “geuine” windows 11 license according to the laptop’s own description. If dont want a organization/parental lock built in to the Operating System, not the laptop for you. Any attempts to remove the S mode prompts into endless errors and warns against losing Win11 licensure. I was unable to test the machine further as I could download (install is restricted) any programs not in the MS Store.

Windows 10/11 in S mode is designed for security and performance, exclusively running apps from the Microsoft Store. If you want to install an app that isn't available in the Microsoft Store, you'll need to switch out of S mode. Switching out of S mode is one-way. If you make the switch, you won't be able to go back to Windows 10/11 in S mode.
Below I have provided a few steps to help you :
1. On your PC running Windows 10/11 in S mode, open Settings > Update & Security > Activation.
2. In the Switch to Windows 10/11 Home or Switch to Windows 10/11 Pro section, select Go to the Store. (If you also see an "Upgrade your edition of Windows" section, be careful not to click the "Go to the Store" link that appears there.)
3. On the Switch out of S mode (or similar) page that appears in the Microsoft Store, select the Get button. After you see a confirmation message on the page, you'll be able to install apps from outside the Microsoft Store.

Those with more demanding needs might want a higher-end model, but for basic office work, streaming, etc. it's working fine. We'll see where we are in a few months or years, but so far it's as advertised. Too new to tell how the battery life is going to turn out.

One started giving us problems within a couple months: some of the keys stopped working reliably (e.g., "T", "Y", and backspace). Aside from the keys on one of the laptops, this model is acceptable for high school level work, but it's not great. The keyboard is too spongey and the build quality seems just "ok."
