Infinite problems with the camera on this
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had 2 of these computers now. The exact same make. Within a few days of getting it, the camera on it always malfunctions. Geek squad has bent over backwards always trying to get these fixed, but it never works, no matter what they do. I am not sure if it is the computer and it is a junk camera or if it is Microsoft updates and it is messing with the cameras in these computers. In any case, I am going back to the store tomorrow this is my 6th time going to the store. I am asking for a full refund, and I hope to get it, or I am going to give up on Best Buy. In any case, stay away from pc's and Microsoft updates that screw with peripherals. I would suggest buying an Mac

Very disappointed in it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is too sensitive. It jumps around like crazy. I don't have to even touch the keys and it moves. Helpful hints keep popping up and I can't figure out how to stop that.

Thanks for your review. We're recommend re-calibrating your touchpad so it is less erratic for you: Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:
1. In the Search box, type main.cpl.
2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs.
3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
6. Change the options as preferred.
7. Touch or click Save.
8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.
10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA.

Doa
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop about 2 weeks ago and it came with a defective battery, it takes a long time to charge and when it reaches 100% and I start using it with the battery, immediately begins to lower the percentage, even being in saving mode does not hold an hour of use, when in the specifications says it lasts up to 10 hours, I contacted the seller and only told me to contact DELL directly, call DELL as requested but only transferred me from one place to another and never made me the replacement. 3 people found this helpful

Absolutely horrible-broken!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Horrible experience- shop anywhere else! Computer is "geek certified" but stopped working the second time I opened it. Wouldn't load past locked screen. The customer service was AWFUL--hours of my life lost. We were all completely kind and empathetic to each other but no one had any idea what was going on and I got transferred endlessly. Had another product in my order that did not work, as well--beware digital downloads of Microsoft Office...Best Buy won't send you the code to download your item and I'm still trying to get mine 2 months later! I will never, ever, ever shop here again.

Glitchy unresolvable problems. DO NOT BUY
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Terrible computer with numerous unfixable glitches. Cursor randomly juts around when typing in internet search. Randomly refuses to turn on (seems like a must-feature to me), randomly switches to tablet mode despite that all my settings are "never switch to tablet mode). I type this review with an upside down screen after multiple geek squad attempts to resolve issue. It is VERY HEAVY and best used (when it elects to power up) as a desktop or doorstop. I have owned much more reliable laptops for half the price of this.

Broke within 6 months
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this computer 6 months ago, it was fine. Until the battery stopped charging. I sent gave it to Geek Squad to get fixed and they had to send it out to not only replace the battery but also the whole motherboard. It came back to the store 3 weeks later and it was still not working correctly. Luckily I had Geek Squad protection and they took care of it and let me exchange it for a new computer. I got an HP this time.

Worst Computer Ever
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product doesn’t deserve any stars. I returned this computer twice. The first time I exchanged it after having it for one day. It completely died and wouldn’t come on. The second computer was defective also. The battery would say 80% percent, but if I unplug the charger it would cut off. I couldn’t use it without the charger being attached. I returned it for a refund after only having it for one day.

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear about the battery issues that you've been having. Here are some tips to help extend the life of your battery:
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

The service was poor, nothing was done right!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The store did not have the item in stock. Gave a delivery date that did not happen was later. Set up the account incorrectly. Even after numerous requests and promises that it was corrected it is still wrong and making for problems. The Geek squad did not do their job which made more work for me and I still have to go back and have changes made that were to have been taken care of the first time. Very poor business. Received better service when I ordered directly from Dell in the past

The laptop came without an AC Adaptor.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The AC Adapter was not with the laptop when received! There is no obvious phone number to call to request one. There are apparently three different AC Adapters available to purchase online, varying by wattage. However, there is no information with this “Geek Squad Certified” computer to indicate the appropriate one. Without immediate help I’ll be forced to return this purchase!

Sleek design
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This middle of the line lap top from Dell is good looking and sleek. Ive been playing around with it for a couple days and it gets kinda warm sitting in my lap. It folds over to use as a tablet which is cool. It’s a large tablet when you do that. I found it hard to type emails that way because the edges of my hands where on the screen. Another thing, I set up my gmail account and can compose emails, but none of my inbox has showed up after two days. This is a software issue though not related to the Dell laptop. Syncing with my other PC was easy and the start up process is voice activated. Last thing the fingerprint sensor, horrible. I’ll have to reset it and try again.

Posted .Tuckman,
Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that your computer has been overheating a little for you. We'd recommend the following tips to help keep your computer operating at a cooler temperature:
Tips for Proper Usage:
1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

laptop for college.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop for nursing school then covid hit. It had a camera built in and everything I needed. It's highly reccomend this laptop. The only downside was making sure to change setting for audio output. It would be good if it automatically changed. Other than that I liked the lightness, and the large screen.

It's Okay and Good at the Same Time...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review....depending on your preferences. This is a decent laptop that gets the job done. The PHYSICAL look of the laptop is nice. It’s silver (I would have preferred black, but oh well), thin and pretty sleek. Also, why is the bottom bezel of the screen so BIG!? My goodness, it’s a bit distracting. Also, this is a convertible, so you can flip the screen all the way back and use it in tablet mode. SETUP was fine. Sometimes, I would try to use voice controls and when I would answer the setup question, it would not register or respond accordingly. I think it worked for me twice. There was a section of setup, where I had to figure out whether to allow it to do something or not (such as taking my usage info to improve such and such system); google helped me with this. Setup also allowed me to setup fingerprint scanning. It took me a while to figure out where the scanner was, I had to look on the little fold up paper that came with it, showing me key functions on the laptop; this is something that could have easily been shown at that portion of the setup. Anyway, the fingerprint scanner is the top, right blank square on the keyboard. Everything loaded up well after setup. It even loaded my desktop background from my previous laptop; this is probably because of my Microsoft login. By the way, I don’t want to have to login to my laptop; I want to just start it up and click to the desktop, but I couldn’t figure out how to do that. DISPLAY leaves much to be desired. The colors look nice, but they are a bit soft. The white is horrible. Anything white is more like a yellowish white (even for anything close to white). Also, I have brightness at 90% and it still is not bright. It’s dull. It looks like a permanent need for battery charging. The display drives me crazy! I hate it! I know it is only an Inspiron, but come on now, Dell. SOUND is… ummmmm… well…… hmph. I mean, it’s loud and has a nice overall sound, but I think this is at the expense of clarity, as the sound is a bit muffled. PERFORMANCE is cool. It is quick and average, which is not a bad thing. This is 2019. For the most part, laptops/pcs perform well. Honestly, it does what it’s supposed to do. You won’t be disappointed. KEYBOARD is nice overall. The backlighting is bright but it doesn’t help. When you turn it on, it makes it hard to see the keys on the keyboard. Weird, right? I know. So I opt to turn it off. The keyboard has a top row with the quick keys icons and ‘fn’ functions. However, those keys have been doing what they want, example: I push the F5 button (without holding down ‘fn’ and the backlight comes on; but then I can’t turn it off without holding ‘fn;’ but then it won’t let me turn it back on without holding ‘fn.’ Very odd. While writing this review, I pushed f5 by itself (to see if backlight would turn on) and it took me back. I had to start this review all over again! So, I don’t know what’s up with that. The keys feel nice when typing, and well, there’s a number pad. Yay. It seems to CHARGE fine. When you connect the charger, there is a small LED light that is white. When it finishes charging, the LED light goes out. One more biggie, the fan seems to come on a lot; and it’s loud! Very annoying. CONS: huge bottom bezel on the screen, voice control is inconsistent, fingerprint scanner is inconsistent, display sucks and leaves much to be desired, sound would be better if not muffled (but I can hear a decent quality in there), keyboard backlighting makes it hard to see keys. Of those cons, the bezel, display and sound matter to me; and the annoying fan running often. So minus 1.5 / 2 stars for those things that matter a lot to me. Let me be clear though, other than my cons, it works well. I don't think I would recommend it, because for that price I could probably get a laptop that does not have those same cons. That's just me. Peace.

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that your computer does not meet all of your needs. If you'd like to try to reduce the fan noise on your computer we'd recommend updating the BIOS:
An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer. You can also follow up with our Technical Support Team here - 1-800-624-9896.

Too slow
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.it runs way slower than my 10 year old Dell laptop I was trying to replace. Certain websites won't download at all if ever and have to run the older laptop simultaneously (it hates Gmail and Google Chrome apparently). Takes too long to download things and don't see a progression window to show how much is left to download.
