Its a good laptop... however, not being able to use Google or log into my favorite apps is trash. Having to remove it from S mode and being unsure of what that means for performance... is trash. I dont like it and will probably be taking it back soon.

      Hello,

Thank you for taking a moment to share your review. We understand how important it is for you to be able to log into your favorite apps and use Google, and we would like to assist you as soon as possible. Windows 10 in S mode is designed for security and performance, exclusively running apps from the Microsoft Store. If you want to install an app that isn't available in the Microsoft Store, you'll need to switch out of S mode. Switching out of S mode is one-way. If you make the switch, you won't be able to go back to Windows 10 in S mode. There's no charge to switch out of S mode.

      Here are the recommended steps:
      1. On your PC running Windows 10 in S mode, open Settings > Update & Security > Activation.
      2. In the Switch to Windows 10 Home or Switch to Windows 10 Pro section, select Go to the Store. (If you also see an "Upgrade your edition of Windows" section, be careful not to click the "Go to the Store" link that appears there.)
      3. On the Switch out of S mode (or similar) page that appears in the Microsoft Store, select the Get button. After you see a confirmation message on the page, you'll be able to install apps from outside of the Microsoft Store.

We recommend following these steps to switch out of S Mode. If you come across any questions, issues, or concerns, please contact Dell Support at your earliest convenience at 1-800-264-9896.

      Best regards,
      Wendy C.

BIOS failed, had to return the next day

Though Dell is quite big and respectable name in computer business, this laptop model failed the same day, we picked up from Best Buy. Windows updates went fine, then Dell BIOS updates started and the laptop shut down and never booted up. Tried all available options to boot it up, without opening the chassis of brand new laptop, all efforts failed. Finally returned this item next day and got a different brand. Pros: Cost Cons: Chassis quality (plastic), reliability of the BIOS. Many users have reported the same issue online, with other Dell models as well.

      Hello Indra,

Thank you for taking the time to share your input and review. We are extremely sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your new laptop not booting up. Below are steps that can assist with troubleshooting your Inspiron if needed in the future.

Here are the recommended steps for troubleshooting this issue:
      1. If the computer is displaying the Dell logo and does not move past that point, it has probably failed POST.
      2. If the power indicator lights up and it is amber or orange, this is usually an indicator that it has failed POST.
      3. If you see text on a black screen, the computer is currently performing the POST. If the computer stays in that condition and does not move past it, it has probably failed POST.
      4. If the video screen displayed anything at all during the startup process but is now black, this probably indicates that the computer failed POST.
      5. If the computer is beeping or if Caps/Num/Scroll Locks are flashing, note if there is a particular pattern in which it beeps or flashes.
      6. If the computer is not beeping and caps/num/scroll locks are not flashing, unplug all connections and remove all media communication devices (e.g. external monitors); reconnect one at a time and check if the computer functions.
      7. For a notebook, press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button. This starts the pre-boot testing and will launch ePSA. In case you have a Desktop at the Dell logo screen tap the F12 key to enter One Time Boot Menu and use the arrow keys to highlight Diagnostics and press enter.
      8. You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2uj1Sby.

We recommend following the steps above to resolve your issue. If the issue continues, please contact Dell Support at your earliest convenience at: 1-800-264-9896.

      Sincerely,
      Wendy C.

Who Needs A Laptop With A Touchscreen?

I do not like this Dell Laptop. I bought the computer because of the name without looking at it. Big mistake! Who needs a laptop with a touch screen? I have two other HP laptops of the same size. I am still using those. The Dell Laptop sits on the shelf unused. The Font is too small compared to my HP Laptops. Dell Laptop is not pleasant to look at. Screen is bad! Font is too small.

I bought this for my son to use for school. I picked it up in July, and it worked great while it worked. By the start of November the internal board was loose so it wouldn't charge. Took it to BestBuy and they couldn't repair it and it was not under warranty. They suggested contacting manufacturer to see if they could do something. I am still trying in December.
