Just bought this laptop a couple of weeks ago. Its definitely an over kill for what i use it for. I just game on it mainly with Runescape and basic streaming and surfing. The capabilities of this laptop is outstanding for the price. I cant even think of one thing to complain about other than i accidentally disabled the touch pad my first day with it, unable to use it for 3 days because i didn't know how to enable it without a mouse but that was my bad. Loving it. Its absolutely flawless.

Great Laptop, except for the display but the display doesn't matter if you have an External Monitor specially if you have a gaming monitor 2k-4k resolution, but in performance, there's nothing you can wish for, for an entry level Gaming Laptop, great performance for gaming such as LOL,DOTA2,GTA V,Watchdogs,CSGO

Bought this laptop as an impulse buy I got it for $670 new. Performance wise it is great it can handle skyrim special edition just fine and is good when using Maya for animations. The screen is sharp and has a very good.resolution but the viewing angles and colors are bad. Also mine has horrible wifi. Its getting half the speed of my phone and sometimes just drops connection. Ethernet is fine but I don't have access to Ethernet outside of my house. That's even with Windows reset and driver updates. Returning it.

I order this computer the other day through dell because I wanted the next model up.Plus they offer a 10% discount for anyone in the armed forces. It was a no brainer. I was however concerned about the complaints about the screen. I contacted dell and they confirmed they are now being built with the IPS screen instead of the TN panel. Very excited to get this laptop and very happy with Dells customer service for listening to their customers.

PREMIUM GAMING LAPTOP AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE!!

Bought this laptop as an "open box" (which is technically the display model in the store) in which display models either have NO, or minimal "bloatware" (like the kind you find in "closed box items" that most software/hardware sellers cram PCs with). My only "brow raiser" is the (new to me) Hybrid Hard Drive, which I have never tried before THIS machine. "Chicklet" style keys are quiet and comfortable to type with. Wifi was slightly finicky when first turned on.....currently in process of downloading my ONLY video game of choice, so no current reports on game play. Screen reminds me of my older Inspiron (no glare or light reflection from other light sources from this type of screen...something I prefer heavily due to having sensitive eyes, although most people don't favor these types of screens....had an ASUS that had a screen that would make my vision blurry after an hour of use). Bought this laptop for the sole purpose of playing Star Trek Online MMORPG,- and all things directly related, (and the rare occasion of watching a movie, or two). I STRONGLY BELIEVE that this laptop is a n ECONOMICALLY VIABLE SOLUTION FOR THOSE WHOSE LAPTOPS/PC'S FELL VICTIM TO MICROSOFT'S INFAMOUS AND CONTROVERSIAL WINDOWS 10 "FORCED" UPDATES, (WHICH HAS KILLED A TOTAL OF 3 LAPTOPS SINCE THE FALL CREATOR'S UPDATE....I STILL miss my chocolate colored ASUS Q-series that Microsoft murdered back on Feb. 7th., but I have a strange feeling that this Dell laptop (which has an Intel i5 w/ NVidia GTX 1050 instead of the Intel i7 w/NVidia GTX 940 that was in my chocolate ASUS Q-series) will be a PERFECT solution to my STO withdrawals! ;) Still downloading patch files for my game...THIS and VLC media player will most likely be the ONLY THING that I install on this laptop which I have bought SOLELY for the purpose of playing Star Trek Online. Eventually (when I build my gaming tower) I'll end up taking advantage of the NVidia GTX 1050 that's installed by using this laptop for online classwork involving Digital Cinematography! Thank you, Best Buy! Thank you, Dell! Thank you, NVidia! Thank you, Intel!

Been gaming on it since 2017 and it's still kicking. I did upgrade to 32gb of ram and added a ssd. It only needs a new battery I believe. It's loaded down with games and creative software and still performs. Worth every last dollar.

I must say this really is a very good laptop for the price. I bought it on sale for $650 a week ago. I had my concerns, but after the grueling updates the laptop is run great. On start up, it prompted me to do everything I needed, but before I finalized all the updates, my internet connection was very unstable and it was next to impossible to do anything other than wait for the updates to finish. Once the updates were finished and I did the first restart, my internet ran great and the laptop was very responsive. I play Fishing Planet and The Hunter on my laptop and I can run both games on the highest settings and they run smoothly.

We bought this for my 18 year old son less than 3 weeks ago. He uses it for school, video editing and games. We have owned several Dell computers, both laptops and desktops. We have a very solid understanding of PC's. Everything was great at first, however he started running into issues. When he tries to shut down the computer, it shuts down the OS, however the screen and keyboard would stay lit. It also started locking up completely and freezing. The only solution, remove the battery. Now, the keyboard doesn't light up. Tried settings, even when trying to raise the brightness, it doesn't detect that he has a backlit keyboard. He tried calling Dell, no solutions or recommendations. Absolutely unacceptable. This isn't a cheap laptop. While it works very well, is fast and handles the video editing software he needs it to run, it is completely unreliable. I don't know if maybe Dell Tech Support will see this on here, but perhaps we'll get better assistance that we have had so far. I liked his computer so much, that I went this week and bought an Alienware. So far mine is amazing, but if it starts acting up like my son's so soon after buying it, these will be our last purchases from Dell unfortunately.

Purchased this PC during the 2017 Black Friday sales, was super excited. It worked excellent for about a month and all of a sudden ran into a million issues. It begins to get laggy and slow, while only playing games like minecraft. That wasn't that big of a deal, I purchased this for gaming, as well as for my college work. After that first month, the wifi driver went out. I called the make and they refused to fix it for free and wanted me to pay $150, which I didn't have at the time to just spend. So I decided to go the Ethernet cable route and the computer is just overall going down hill. I've had it for less than a year and it works like it was made in the 1990s. I run virus checks everyday, get rid of unnecessary downloads, and do maintenance checks on it frequently. I've taken this laptop into windows myself and there are no errors popping up anywhere, no viruses, and it just doesn't work. Yet the company refused to help me out. I could just have a corrupted one, but they should understand that and realize that that is an issue on their side, not mine. *picture shows how when I have no Ethernet cable in there is so connection what's so ever.*

Sorry that you've encountered slow speeds. Check out these troubleshooting steps to help with speed - Delete temporary files and directories 1. Click Start, then in the search bar type "disk". Disk Cleanup should appear on the menu above the search box. 2. Run disk cleanup and eliminate unneeded temporary files (Search results, Internet Cache and other windows temp files you may no longer need) 3. Select files you want to delete then click OK to start the cleanup process. Uninstall applications you no longer use 1) Open the Programs and Features application in Control Panel. 2) Scan the list of applications installed for ones that you no longer use. 3) Highlight any application you no longer use and then click the uninstall button at the top of the list. Follow the prompts to uninstall. 4. Repeat for each application you want to uninstall. 5. Move large files and/or seldom used files to backup media (Photos, Music you seldom listen to, application downloads after the application has been installed etc.). 6. Empty the Recycle Bin. We encourage you to give us a call at 1 (800) 624-9897. Another great resource is Dell Supportassist, which can be located in the 'start' menu under 'all programs' in the Dell. We appreciate the feedback. - Chris Dell

    Plagued with issues since purchased

Where to begin. Bought this laptop new and had issues from day one. The blue screen of death was a regular problem early on, wifi connection issues everywhere I go, Chrome wouldn't launch properly and caused frequent crashes, and most recently it won't recognize the battery so I have to leave it plugged in (defeats the purpose of it being portable in my opinion). At least it hasn't crashed recently after uninstalling Battlenet, but that was the only reason I purchased this laptop to begin with. Oh, and if you don't pay for the Best Buy warranty you only have 30 days to return which is a problem if you have a busy work schedule involving travel and 10+ hour days. Can say with certainty I'll never buy from Best Buy or Dell ever again.

Great if you don't want to use the Internet.

Buyer Beware. I bought this laptop a week ago today and have had nothing but issues with internet access right out of the box. After starting up for the first time and going through 1.5 hours of updates the laptop would blue screen constantly with "Netwtw04.sys" errors complimented by "IRQ >=". An internet search revealed this to be a wireless device issue where the device was trying to access IRQ's (system interupts) reserved for the operating system kernal. The wireless device in this laptop is an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165. When I was able to connect speed was like dial-up where pages took forever to load. I went to the Intel website and downloaded and installed the most recent driver available (not installed in the out of box laptop). It did not solve the problem. I then brought the laptop upstairs and plugged it into my router using an available ethernet port. This worked for a while but then all of sudden internet stopped working because the ethernet LAN configugration was lost and I kept getting "Invaid IP configuration" errors. Troubleshooting the issue with Windows 10 sometimes worked, sometimes it didn't. In any case, the ethernet adaptor was reported to have to be reset each time. I have to say I have multiple devices connected to my wireless router and none have any issues at all and up to this point perform much better than this laptop. This is important for reasons below (my guess). I finally decided to wipe the system and start over using a Dell support provided ISO image specifically for this laptop. Hours later the blue screens stopped but internet performance is still sluggish at best. After re-installing Windows 10 with the Dell ISO the system overall performed slower than out of the box. The blue screens stopped but if the laptop is left idle for a period of time internet access crawls again and pages take forever to load (as opposed to a clean shut-down, reboot - restarting doesn't help). Wireless driver information; Out of the box: version 19.20.xx, blue screens all the time Upgraded: 19:50.xx (most recent available), no change After wiping original Dell installation with Dell ISO image: 18.xx.xx, no blue screens (note the older wireless driver) At this point the only thing I can suggest for the internet issues is that the Intel Wireless AC adapter doesn't play well with anything other than wireless AC protocol. Unfortunately my router only supports wireless N as a top speed. My plan of action is to go to Comcast and upgrade my router to AC wireless. If that doesn't work, I'll update the wireless driver. If that doesn't work the laptop is going back to Best Buy in a body bag. The whole experience has been a nightmare.

So I bought this computer with no research other than looking at a quick review. I was looking to buy another laptop but after I found this one I fell in love. First of all, the screen is terrible, so I had to use a monitor. This laptop has some pretty decent specs and play most of today's game with no interference. I would suggest you buying this with a purchase of a monitor.
