    Best Laptop for under $500!

I had purchased a cheaper 11" ACER laptop a couple years ago because it was inexpensive ($270) and I only needed it for emails, Word Docs, PDFs and paying online accounts, etc. However, that ACER laptop was EXTREMELY SLOW (AMD C-70 APU processor) and screen turned out to be too small making it difficult to read any text on websites, word docs, etc. CPU Benchmark score was only 570! That's really shamefully slow performance. So, after doing some careful research, I found this Dell laptop with an Intel i7 5500U processor. All I can say is WOW! This thing is fast! CPU Benchmark score is 3965 which for a general use laptop is outstanding, especially when considering the price was just under $500. WELL WORTH THE MONEY. This was the ONLY laptop I found at this price with an i7 processor and Windows 10. Yes, it is a little heavy and big, but I don't need to carry it around so the extra size and weight does not matter to me, plus the 15.6" screen makes it so much easier to read. I also just use my new Dell as my secure computer to pay bills, make online purchases and archive important documents. I have another computer for everything else.

WHY TO WAIT....$499 for 5th Gen i7 - Steal Deal

It has been a couple of days I have used this laptop and I have the following things to say about this. Pros: 1. Latest i7 processor clocked at 2.4ghz. Super Fast. The heaviest application also take very less time to install when compared to other laptops having i3/i5 2. 1 TB HDD is more than sufficient for any personal storage. 3. Best Sound Output. I have had a chance to comparesome laptops of Inspiron 15 5000 series and their sound output was way too low. However, this laptop has a crystal clear sound. loud enough to watch movies without headphones. 4. Clear and Bright Display. 5. DVD R/W ... to make the best use of old DVD collections. 6. Light in weight. 7. Glossy from outside. Matte finish inside (keyboard area) 8. Spacious keyboard. 9. quite big touchpad to ensure the finger doesnt get out of the groove when selecting large data. 10.Windows 10 Pre Installed. 11. Dual Microphone and Webcam works perfect. Cons: No potential cons as such for this price. However, some people might revisit their decision to buy it for the following reason. 1. Sums up to $550 including taxes in which one can get a 5th Gen i5 processor with 8gb RAM and 1TB hadd with TOUCHSCREEN. People looking for touchscreen might be disappointed with this laptop. 2. No NumLock Indicator. 3.Delicate body. Overall, I would say it is a great product to buy if you are looking for an i7 processor to flaunt around. 6GB RAM is sufficient enough to handle critical applications (saying this as I do a lot of programming stuff). Perfect for personal use. I will post/edit the review after using the laptop for some more days to be concrete with the decision of buying.

I was able to get this computer on sale after my 5 year old HP had the 2nd hard drive go out on it. I was in a hurry to get something else as I needed to be back up and running right away. My tech person suggested Lenovo or Dell so after doing as much research as I could in a 48 hour period, I settled on this unit. Very good amount of hard drive space - 1TB and 6BG memory which is upgradable and a I7 Intel Processor. Speakers have good volume and decent sound and don't distort when turned up all the way. Speakers were better on this unit than most of the others I looked at in the store in this price range. I have Photoshop installed which I haven't really used that much to make a judgement, but everything works pretty smoothly on a daily basis. I preferred the keyboard feel and layout of my old HP but you can't have everything. I bought an external wireless keyboard and mouse which I prefer to use with this unit when I'm at home. The materials are decent for the price...black glossy finish on the outside attracts some fingerprints and dust and inside has a black matte finish vs. a smooth finish like my old HP. Battery is ok, sometimes seems to drain a bit faster than I'd like but charges up pretty quickly. All in all, I'm satisfied...the specs couldn't be beat for the price and Dell has a decent reputation. Everything connects quickly on Windows 10 and I'm getting used to it. After having the computer a while now, I'm pleased overall. Best Buy had the best deal.

I will use it for browsing, Netflix, movies, occasional programming and image editing. So the specs are perfect for me. If you have the same purpose, It’s a steal deal. Though some nice to have features should have been there, like keyboard backlite, it disappoints there. Touch screen, I don’t need that in laptop. So that’s fine for me. PROs: 1. i7 processor, 1 TB HDD(more than enough), 6GB RAM In 500$ is a steal 2. light, slim and pretty good looking 3. 15.6’ nice n bright display 4. HDMI, USB 3.0, MMC reader, CONs: 1. The processor speed is 2.4 and not 3.00 GHz as mentioned in specs(Still its pretty good, But they have got it wrong in specs) 2. No keyboard backlite. it would have been a perfect deal had it included the backlites. But the price neutralizes that. 3. Touch screen obsessed ppl will be disappointed. It has no touch screen.

I bought this a couple months ago when it was on sale for $499. WHICH was a DEAL! Speed is amazing, battery lasts long enough for me, the webcam is decent. I use this to stream and record gameplay, and its perfect. Can run multiple things at once EASILY. You can always add more ram yourself. The 1TB HD is great. OH, the sound quality played through the speakers is also very good! I am happy with this purchase.

Amazing Laptop ... Great Looks...mat inside glossy outside is a great combo A litle heavy because of 1TB hard disk. i7 in 500$ is really a great deal 2.4ghz processor instead of 3.0 ram upgradable to 16gb... didnt felt a need to upgrade till now. Have expectations according to the price, worth the money spent.

The trouble begin the first month, had to send it off because it would not connect to internet. They repaired and sent back. However the whole time it continuously dropped internet (wifi). Then I went through 2 cords because they wouldn't charge. I bought my son the same computer at the same time. He did not have hardly any problems, except he also had to replace the cord. This computer was less then 2 years old. Replaced.

I LOVE this laptop! You can’t beat the specs of this laptop for the price. I shopped around a lot and this deal really stands out! I’m sure you’ve already read the specifications, so I won’t reiterate them back to you. One thing I wanted to know, that isn’t included in the description, is if the ram is expandable. I decided to buy it anyway and when I got it home, I checked crucial.com. According to Crucial’s scanner, the ram can be upgraded to 16 GB. It has a total of 2 slots with 2 GB installed in one and 4 GB in the other. After using the laptop for a while, I see no need to upgrade though. The performance of the laptop is phenomenal! I’m not a gamer, so I can’t tell you how a gaming experience would be, but for installing software, downloads, and casting Netflix in HD to Chromecast, it’s been amazing. I was also surprised at how quiet it is; it's almost completely silent. I rarely hear a fan running, but the computer isn’t running warm. I didn’t expect much from the battery, but that is exceeding my expectations too. I can use it off and on for most of the day on a single charge. Aesthetically, it’s basic; it has textured black plastic around the keyboard that doesn't show fingerprints and a glossy black lid that looks nice, but shows every fingerprint. Keyboard is also basic, but to me it's easy to type on and it has the 10 key number keypad on the side. The laptop is thinner and lighter than I expected. I’ve only had it a couple weeks, so if any reliability or durability issues come up, I’ll see if I can come back and update my review. So far, so good. I couldn’t be happier!

The Dell Inspiron 15 I5558-5003BLK is a 2.4GHz Core i7 powerhouse at an amazing price. The build quality is solid, but all plastic. The design is sleek. The battery lasts a good 4 to 4.5 hours of uninterrupted use on a full charge. It ships with 6GB of RAM, and can be upgraded to a max of 16GB. I opted to upgrade the RAM in mine and this laptop is now a beast for a bargain!

5th generation core i7 (Fast), 6G RAM (Decent), 1TB HDD (Plenty) ,15.6' screen , and Windows 10 for $499. It is the best deal! If you want touch screen, 2 in 1, light and portable, or fancy looking laptop with keyboard back light, aluminum case, etc, then pay another $200 and buy it. But I love this Dell Inspiron 15.6' Laptop!

Pretty easy to set up. Used a program to transfer everything from my old computer and that worked well. Would be nice if keyboard was backlit, but it's liveable. The battery seems to need charging relatively frequently though. The only thing I found odd was that when I went to set up my Wondows 10, it had someone's name already there. I wondered if it had been a returned computer.......but seems fine.

The laptop is amazing. $500 is a steal in my eyes. But I think the specs lied when they said the processor speed was 3.0 gigahertz. When I bought the laptop, I learned that it was only 2.4, so I knew it was too good to be true. I might be wrong, though.

Took back my Toshiba (it was defective) and bought this one in store. It's so amazing! I was pleasantly surprised by the dvd/cd player when I got home. Files are stored weird, like you have to really search for them, but if you know what you are looking for, Cortana (the AI, how cool is that?) can help. Also, there is now way to illuminate the keyboard, so good luck using this in the dark. But overall, this thing is great, A lot of memory, and it runs very smoothly.
