Not Happy
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great, except all of a sudden the screen cracked 17 days after getting it. And nobody touched it. I walked away for a few minutes, and came back to a cracked screen. It appeared to be cracked from the inside, and it is currently at the service center being repaired.

Breaking Down Four Months Later
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had issues from the moment I've owned this product. Initially there was problems with a fuzzy screen. Now I have issues with the video card - it won't correctly connect to the television so we can watch streaming platforms. A couple of months ago the sound started causing problems, so now I can't plug in my headsets to use. I made a sacrifice to get this at the time, especially during COVID/work slow downs, and I really regret it. I'd love if there were product integrity and I would hear back from Dell or Best Buy representatives.

Posted .Hello LSST,
Thank you for your input and feedback. We apologize for the issues you have come across with your product and have noted the details of your statement to help improve our products now and in the future. We would love to help you as soon as possible. Please, use the information below to contact Dell Support at your earliest convenience. In the meantime, I have provided some troubleshooting steps and links to assist you.
Screen flickering or going black in Windows 10 is usually caused by an incompatible app or display driver. To determine whether an app or driver is causing the problem, check to see if Task Manager flickers. Then, based on that information, you'll need to either update the app or the display driver.
Check to see if Task Manager flickers
1. Open Task Manager by pressing the Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys on the keyboard at the same time. If that doesn't work, right-click the Start button in the lower-left corner of your screen and then select Task Manager.
2. If Task Manager doesn't flicker, an app is probably causing the problem.
3. If Task Manager does flicker, a display driver is probably causing the problem.
Update an incompatible app: Three apps were previously known to cause screen flickering in Windows 10: Norton AV, iCloud, and IDT Audio. In most cases, updating the app or contacting the app manufacturer for an update will fix the problem.
Update your display driver:
To update your display driver, you'll need to start your PC in safe mode, uninstall your current display adapter, and then check for driver updates.
1. Start your PC in safe mode, then right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
2. Expand the Display adapters section, right-click the listed adapter, then select Uninstall device. Select the Delete the driver software for this device checkbox, then select Uninstall and restart your PC.
3. After your PC restarts, press the Windows logo key + I on your keyboard to open Settings. If that doesn't work, select the Start button and then select Settings.
4. From Settings, select Update & security > Windows Update > Check for updates

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that your computer is not holding its charge for very long. Here are some tips to help extend your computer's battery:
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

Broken Keyboard in under 6 months
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointed. After less than 6 months of ownership, the keyboard has started to fail and a number of keys don't work. Will be repairing under warranty, but resulted in me having to buy another laptop as I need one for work.

poor salesman attempting to help me buy a laptop
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was like trying to pull teeth to get info from the sales person. I think he was more interested in getting off work than helping me. He provide very little info unless I asked about it. Fortunately I had a good person I had talked to several weeks ago who gave me some good advice and info. I bought my laptop 3 weeks ago and I still do not have it operating. This was a terrible experience. I am a member of geek squad and I wanted to have everything proloaded before I picked it up. This salesperson was no help. I can not rate the equipment because I have not been able to use it yet.

DELL QUALITY HAS CHANGED
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Review update. This laptop is pure garbage. It is now used as a backup for a new Microsoft Surface which is excellant. The quality of the Dell is abysmal. Within 2 years both the keyboard and the charging port had to be replaced. Now there is an issue with the HDD. Thank goodness i bought totaltech when i purchased the surface or i would have thrown the Dell in the garbage.

Not worth $500
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The touch pad is wacked out and sends the pointer arrow all over the screen if your fingers get near the touch pad. It's only 6 weeks old and makes noises like the fan is going explode. Then when I tried to load in the free Webroot Internet Security Software and Word the "S" mode wouldn't let me. That's nice... provide free software and prevent the user from installing it. The super shiny screen is shows all glare and don't even try using the laptop outside. Would not recommend.

Posted .Duke,
We're sorry that your laptop is not working the way that you hoped it would. We'd recommend re-calibrating the touchpad so it responds the way that you hoped it would:
Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:
1. In the Search box, type main.cpl.
2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs.
3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
6. Change the options as preferred.
7. Touch or click Save.
8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.
10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2tqmS02.
If you'd like to see if you can lower the fan noise on your computer we'd suggest updating the BIOS:
An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer. You can also follow up with our Technical Support Team here - 1-800-624-9896.
You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2ENlXfz.
Lastly, if you'd like to take your computer out of Windows 'S' Mode you can follow these steps:
'Windows 10 in S mode is designed for security and performance, exclusively running apps from the Microsoft Store. If you want to install an app that isn't available in the Microsoft Store, you'll need to switch out of S mode. Switching out of S mode is one-way. If you make the switch, you won't be able to go back to Windows 10 in S mode. There's no charge to switch out of S mode.
1. On your PC running Windows 10 in S mode, open Settings > Update & Security > Activation.
2. In the Switch to Windows 10 Home or Switch to Windows 10 Pro section, select Go to the Store. (If you also see an "Upgrade your edition of Windows" section, be careful not to click the "Go to the Store" link that appears there.)
3. On the Switch out of S mode (or similar) page that appears in the Microsoft Store, select the Get button. After you see a confirmation message on the page, you'll be able to install apps from outside of the Microsoft Store.

Inaccurate Description
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't know how well the unit would have worked because I didn't keep it. It was mislabeled by Best Buy. It was supposed to be "open box" but it was actually "no box"! No nothing, in fact, except for the computer itself. According to how it was categorized, it should have had NO essential equipment missing, but there was no power pack. Considering what it would have cost me to buy an OEM power pack, the discount was not enough.

Brought this product and it's in the shop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I brought this laptop for my wife she was really looking for a new pc. Note to self when you buy things open box make sure that you get insurance because Within then a month already have it in the repair shop and got to pay a ton of money to get it fixed the charging port was busted. Going forward make sure you buy new because open box product is not what you think it is but that issues on me my fault. I should have known better.
