first of all let me say i am a die hard apple fan, i went to best buy with the intent of purchasing a MACBOOK after playing around with the touch screen features of this Dell i give it 5 thumbs up. I love this laptop
Pros...
1tb hdd
15.6 screen
touch screen
1.70 quad core with boost
4 USB 3.0 ports
multi SD card reader
long battery life
6gb ram expandable to 8
over all weight not bad
sound quality is amazing and loud
best of all aluminum finish case very sturdy and strong
The speed is incredibility awesome and the screen is very responsive to touch.
Cons..
The only problem i have is the display the reflections are terrible and i have tried everything to brighten the display if i could only brighten the display just a tad more it would warrant 5 stars easily
However i would still recommend this to anybody looking for a top of the line laptop

I have to take the computer back today. It will not turn on. It is my home machine that I use for my embroidery designs and for personal. I have been extremely busy and have not used it for a week. When I went to use it, it was dead. I plugged it in at another location in the house, the light is on the charger, but the machine will not turn on. When it was working it was an okay machine. I hate Microsoft 8.0, but that has nothing to do with the machine.

The keyboard stopped working within 5 days of purchase. We live in a very rural area and had to make another trip to Phoenix to trade it out. Very inconvenient. No reimbursement for time or gas; we live 4 hours away from Phoenix, AZ.

Wonderful Laptop

I recently purchased this laptop, and so far I am LOVING it. This laptop has all of the specs I was looking for at a great price.
I love how the laptop is made out of metal instead of cheap plastic, but because of this it makes the machine a little heavier (which is why I deducted a star). I don't mind it because I don't travel often with a laptop. For me it is for basic home use. The touch screen is also made out of gorilla glass which is another plus in my book.
The keyboard is back lit and has two brightness settings. This is very helpful for when using a computer at night. I am also enjoying with windows 8.1.
I did a lot of research on the difference between 8 and 8.1, and I am glad I went with the 8.1. do your research and you can find plenty of help tips and tricks to help make transitioning into windows 8 a lot easier for you.
The overall look and design of this laptop is very sleek and it is fairly thin. Beware that it does not have a dvd/cd drive, so if this is something you need or want in a laptop be sure to purchase an external dvd/cd drive or chose a different laptop. For me, this feature isn't necessary.
Overall, I would recommend this laptop to anyone and everyone who is using it for basic home use.

Last PC I got was in 2006. In dire need of a new PC. I decided to go with a laptop. They're just as fast as a desktop, space saver, portable, etc.
I went to the store and look at all the laptops. I kept coming back to this one. I found another that was cheaper, but I went with what I want. I would've regretted not getting this one. I love the way it looks and feels. Going from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 is quite different, but after a few days, I'm getting the groove of navigating 8 and customizing. The touch screen is awesome. It has decent speakers on it. They're louder than most other laptops I've heard. I didn't think about it at the time I bought it but it doesn't have a DVD burner/writer. I wanted to install a program and realized it didn't have a drive. Which is fine! You really don't need one these days, you can download any program online anymore. But I did order a external DVD burner for 30 bucks, so to have one, its a minor cost to get one. Plus I also ordered an external 1TB drive, 15 ft HDMI cable to hook to TV directly, Bluetooth mouse and a carry bag.
So there is always additional cost in buying additional gear for your laptop, which for me was an additional 150 bucks. But now I'm portable and not stuck to a desktop. I'm going to transfer all programs and files from the desktop and retire the PC. RIP my friend. I kept you alive for 8 years, but you struggled to even watch a HD video on youtube.

Great bang for the buck computer!

This is great computer as long as you know what your needs are and you do your research first. I see a lot of complaints about Windows 8 which has nothing to do with the computer as you can either purchase a windows 7 computer or do what I did and install Classic Shell which will give you the feel, look and performance of windows 7 on a windows 8 platform which is better. I actually run 2 Macbook Pros but I needed a windows based computer for some programs that I run (QuickBooks, Pangolin QuickShow, and Arkaos NUvJ which is a adobe flash text based video software) This computer worked great for what I needed as the processing speed, and Intel HD 4400 graphics card did exactly what I needed. I purchased an open box unit which had been returned because someone did not realize that this did not come with a cd/dvd drive. The money I saved I used to purchase a 1TB crucial SSD and this is now a beast of a machine at a fraction of the cost and it still maintains it's 1 year warranty through Dell. On a side note it also matches the look of my Macbooks so it is visually appealing as well especially with the forged all aluminum body. A great product at a great price.

Bought this computer because my last one died. I use it for school (computer science major), and for basic gaming, etc. It handles anything with ease. The touch screen makes it much easier to do things. The backlit keyboard makes using the computer in the dark easy!

Nice machine, poor.... spacebar

The machine is really nice, but the first thing I try when I check out a laptop is to open a text editor and just start typing.
Sadly, the spacebar on this Dell keyboard just does not cut it. While typing some random text, I had several occurrences of "Idon'tknowwhythisspacebardoesnotwork"
Ok I am exaggerating a bit, but it was bad - truly bad. And it was not on just one copy. I have seen this on this model on several copies of this laptop.
Before you buy, type on it awhile. Maybe you will have better results. It is a shame because Dell usually has great keyboards.

This product is great looking but sometime the wifi connection just keep cutting off. Track pad is not that sensitive because sometime it not frozen on you. I brought one for only a week and the keyboard and track pad doesn't work so I return it and get my full refund back.
