I would not recommend this PC or any Dell. Purchase on Black Friday for Christmas Present. Open on Christmas. Turn on once. That's was it. Dell or Best Buy will not exchange a defected unit that was tested with 3 issues with the laptop. Now I have to spend extra $200 on a brand new lap top. So much for saving, instead spending more. Purchase many lap top from best buy. This would be my last one!

Price - SSD Boot Time Beats Regular Hard Drive

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I was hesitant to pick up this laptop for $399 on black Friday (Thursday) because of the deep discount. After comparing multiple laptops in Best Buy store to other stores (Office Depot, Staples, and Walmart) black Friday deals, this laptop was hands down. With the Intel Core i5 processor, SSD hard drive and 8GB of RAM, it's quiet and has more than enough juice to run Minecraft, MS office and other basic applications. In fact, I tested more expensive laptops with the same specifications that has a normal 1TB hard drive and boot time was significantly faster with the SSD (of course it's expected with SSD but this review is for people with no SSD experience). If you're looking for fast boot laptop, SSD is the way to go but couple it with Intel Core i5 or higher and >=8GB of RAM for $399, do not hesitate to pick up one. I went back Sunday to purchase another one but unfortunately, the price went back up to $599. If the price was still $399, I would have purchased another one.

In late november I purchased a dell inspirion 15 3000 series laptop. After 1 month it went into a restart cycle and was unusable. Best buy replaced the computer on Jan 10th. On march 13th the same problem occured? Best buy told me that there was nothing they could do that it was a microsoft issue( also purchased windows through best buy) and unless i paid them $199 dollars they wouldnt do anything. Will never shop at this store again.

I purchased this computer and had it set up with all of my login info. I turned off the computer and went to start it 2 days later and it wouldn't start at all. Took it back to the store and they said that they could completely reset it, but that it would take several hours, not sure why as there was almost no use. Not worth it.

      Hi Valued Customer,

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear about the troubles that you've had starting up your computer. If this happens again in the future we'd recommend the following steps to get your computer started:

      1. If the computer is displaying the Dell logo and does not move past that point, it has probably failed POST.
      2. If the power indicator lights up and it is amber or orange, this is usually an indicator that it has failed POST.
      3. If you see text on a black screen, the computer is currently performing the POST. If the computer stays in that condition and does not move past it, it has probably failed POST.
      4. If the video screen displayed anything at all during the startup process but is now black, this probably indicates that the computer failed POST.
      5. If the computer is beeping or if Caps/Num/Scroll Locks are flashing, note if there is a particular pattern in which it beeps or flashes.
      6. If the computer is not beeping and caps/num/scroll locks are not flashing, unplug all connections and remove all media communication devices (e.g. external monitors); reconnect one at a time and check if the computer functions.
      7. For a notebook, press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button. This starts the pre-boot testing and will launch ePSA. In case you have a Desktop at the Dell logo screen tap the F12 key to enter One Time Boot Menu and use the arrow keys to highlight Diagnostics and press enter.

I didn't make is passed the initial setup. These laptops have outdated software on their systems, so everything requires an update. Just the onedrive application alone quoted 30 minutes to download the update. That is crazy. I tried opening word and it was nonresponsive and when it finally did respond, it opened a ton of documents and then froze up. Fair warning, guys.
