Not the greatest but greatest for the price
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yeah... I know weird tag line but this laptop is actually a great buy. The screen resolution leaves something to be desired however ones you get passed the windows S version (which is easy as clicking a button) it runs fast and efficiently, I’ve had it a few months now and there’s been no slowing down as I have experienced before with many computers. So in short it runs great, it’s great for school or any other basic uses other than gaming.

Excellent Value and Performance
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this just before the holidays so the price was good. This laptop has an Intel I5 CPU, 8 GB of ram, and a 256 GB SSD so it performs well! As others have mentioned after you get this set up on a Microsoft acct, You should get it out of "Windows 10 "S" mode" so you can install your favorite apps (such as Chrome for a browser) and then download the Intel graphics control to tweak the display and get the color a bit more saturated.

Pretty Average Laptop for Anyone.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop when it was $350 on Black Friday for my sister. For that price, it's pretty great. I knew this because I have the same laptop without the touchscreen, and it works pretty well considering I'm a Computer Science major. It's the type of laptop you want if you're not a hardcore PC-gamer and not use high-end programs for work. Furthermore, it has pretty good specs to not lag like a $100-$300 laptop.

Derf
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been an excellent laptop. It is being used for handling all business operations for a small non-profit organization. Very pleased with ease of use and durability. Having a wireless mouse makes a real difference for using the laptop - especially for a person who, for years, has used a desktop-type computer with an external keyboard and mouse. Never liked the control pads on laptops.

Great laptop at this pricepoint.
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Am writing this review from this computer. For the price I have to say this is an exceptional laptop. I have had zero issues so nothing to complain about. I did not to purchase the Windows suite separately but got that on sale as well so price is still great. Keep your anti-virus up to date and you shouldnt have any issues. Very fast on start up which is a big plus.

Great value Windows 10 laptop
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop on sale a little over a month ago, to prepare to replace my Windows 7 laptop, since Windows 7 support will be ending in a few months. The first thing you need to know is that the model I got is a Dell Inspiron 15 3583. You can look that up on the Dell site to get more-detailed specs, a setup guide, and a service manual that explains how to open it up and replace parts. This laptop's bios and built-in support echo Dell's heritage of business-class reliability, as opposed to overclocking for performance in games. I was pleased to find the i3 cpu has 4 cores with a total of eight threads. The screen is TFT with a native resolution of 1366 x 768, and the HDMI port can support 4K at 30 Hz. The built-in speakers sounded surprisingly good as laptops go. The keyboard isn't backlit. It was easy and cheap to upgrade the RAM from 8GB to 16GB by adding another module, so I did that. The M.2 slot support upgrading to a PCIe 3.0 x4 with *only* the 2280 form factor, although the laptop is sold with a short 2-lane SSD that needs a metal adapter to stretch it to 2280. I wanted more capacity than 256GB and upgraded my SSD to a Samsung 970 EVO plus. It seems as fast as it should be on disk benchmarks, but in retrospect, a cheaper SSD would have been fine. And, installation of that SSD in a laptop with a single M.2 slot that's being used as the Windows system disk was neither easy nor obvious. (An unexpected benefit of upgrading the SSD was that under controlled conditions I was able to prove my system-image backup worked.) I suspect most users won't need to upgrade the memory or SSD, but the point is if they wanted to, it's possible.

Work Computer
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this Laptop for over 2 years and don't regret my purchase. I like the size and speed. The only problem i have is that sometimes the computer doesn't come on. I have to keep pushing the on button and unplugging and plugging in the charger. Other than that, I luv my computer.

Just what I needed!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decided to purchase a new laptop before my 7 year old one gave up. Just use it for basics, the few things I can’t do on my iPad. I did a lot of research checking out reasonably priced units and was thrilled when Best Buy put this on sale of $349. It has everything I need and was simple to set up after reading reviews before I purchased it. No problem getting out of S mode and installing Office. Would definitely recommend.

Annoying Intermittent Random Screen Flashes
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this up when there was early access to Black Friday doorbusters. I thought the specs were good for the price. After activating it out of S mode and into Windows 10 Home, I began using it to surf the web. I started to notice annoying, brief, random screen flashes. I contacted Dell. The tech person took remote control of the computer and updated the Bios. Next day, I still experienced the random flashing. I contacted Dell again, this time a flash occurred while the tech was remotely connected. He said it wasn't a hardware issue and reset Windows. The next day, the random flashing occurred again. I updated the drivers that had available updates and the firmware - still getting random flashes. Having spent at least 4 hours on the phone with Dell and 4 on my own researching and troubleshooting, I finally returned the laptop today. I gave it a 2 star rating because it is fast, but I couldn't deal with the flashes.

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that your laptop did not perform the way that you hoped it would. Usually updating the BIOS along with the software will help solve the issues that you explained. We're sorry to hear that you continue to experience screen flashes and we hope that you'll consider another Dell system in the future.

Gift for wife
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife is a teacher, and I wanted to get her a laptop. That way she could work from home. It's an okay laptop. I bought it on a Black Friday deal so the price was right for what it is. The screen is ehh and the keyboard is okay. The touchpad is not great. We had to buy a separate mouse for it. The touchpad was sometimes too sensitive, and other times not responsive enough. We got it for $350. It is what it is.
