Posted .@vmr1, glad the computer is running well. However, we hate to hear that the fans are making noise and understand the annoyance that brings when streaming a film or listening to music. Proper ventilation can be one of the most important things for your system. Improper ventilation can increase fan noise and increase heat to the internal components to a degree that potentially can cause damage. It is generally recommended to use the system at a room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a humidity level no greater than 90 percent. We were looking for a cost efficient lap top for simple day to day use and some office based/school work. We removed some of the base things that come auto-installed on it because don't want/need them (Candy Crush, Xbox live, Minecraft, etc), and heard they can slow it down. So far so good, we are happy with the laptop!

Posted .No back lights on the Dear Mach1man62, Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that your computer is a little slower than you'd like it to be. Here are some tips that will hopefully help your computer speed up: Delete temporary files and directories
1. Click Start, then in the search bar type "disk". Disk Cleanup should appear on the menu above the search box.
2. Run disk cleanup and eliminate unneeded temporary files (Search results, Internet Cache and other windows temp files you may no longer need)
3. Select files you want to delete then click OK to start the cleanup process. Uninstall applications you no longer use
1) Open the Programs and Features application in Control Panel.
2) Scan the list of applications installed for ones that you no longer use.
3) Highlight any application you no longer use and then click the uninstall button at the top of the list. Follow the prompts to uninstall.
4. Repeat for each application you want to uninstall.
5. Move large files and/or seldom used files to backup media (Photos, Music you seldom listen to, application downloads after the application has been installed etc.).
6. Empty the Recycle Bin.

Good Sturdy and reliable laptop

Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Its been years I bought this and it has been running very good. The built quality is good. I have had no issues with Dell laptops in the past and they do have long running life. Though it came with a regular HDD instead of SSD, its pretty much everything you need for a regular day to day work. This laptop is sufficient for any school work or personal entertainment use (though now these specs are obsolute). I would recommend to purchase this today only if its really cheap since now SSDs are more available.

Very slow

Upon setting it up it took more than five minutes to load windows. After it did load windows it was extremely slow in opening new windows. Also the power indicater light didn't work. Because of the slowness of the computer and the nonworking light I don't know if it was defective or not but I returned it.
