    I really like it

I had one of the really old "brick"-like models of the Inspiron. I bought it in 2012 and was super hesitant to try another Dell because I HATED the other one - it was so heavy and practically unusable after a year and a half. I finally splurged on this one about a month ago - was a splurge for me as a student. I appreciate the SSD, it makes a huge difference. I'm running multiple programs at once and I never feel it heating or hear it running. It's also super light, which was a priority for me because I take my laptop everywhere and all of my work is on it. Also important to note that I did not experience the problems that others reported about difficulties installing drivers or getting the laptop "up and running"...I bought this, opened the box, went through setup, and was able to work that same day with no issues/error messages. I'm not the most tech-savvy person (I do work with computers every day at my job but I'm not in IT or anything), but I'm pretty sure I didn't miss anything during setup and that process was very easy to do by myself. Overall, I'm really happy with this purchase which is a relief because I thought I would be done with Dell for good!

PROs: Perfect size for my wife's travel and yet more powerful than the laptop it replaces. Very snappy for an I3. Actually, faster than my hp spectre with I7 (Although i am sure that all of virus protection and system lockdown stuff my employer installed on my spectre has something to do with that). CON: Mystery Intel graphics driver failures happen frequently. Hopefully that will be fixed in an update, eventually.

    Value for Money

It has been a week I am using my new laptop. I am a dot net programmer, and purchased it for extensive development and programming. There are a lot of positive experiences so far - 1. This stuff boots up and shuts down within a couple of seconds. SSD playing a major role here. The SSD is super fast. Even large notepad data or MS office files and presentations of size 10MB or more open in a fraction of a second. 2. 8GB RAM is more than enough for even people like me who keep Dot Net and SQL Server running simultaneously. 3. Smartly turns on /off the tablet mode when you fold the screen backward or forward. The screen orientation is also like a smart phone when you tilt it for a portrait/landscape view. 4. The touch screen is really smooth. You'll just feel like any tab. 5.You can turn on the on-screen keyboard with one tap and it just also works awesome. 6. I did not watch much movies or listen to music, nevertheless should admit it has great sound quality and display. The LED screen is fantastic and the equalizer is also working really good. (should not however compare it with your costly headphones or ipods) 7. The touch pad is real smooth and you can control the sensitivity too. The two-finger-scroll is fantastic and you can reverse the scroll direction also. 8. Those who have already used Windows 10 can tell us a lot better features of the OS. I am new to this version of Windows and I already love it! 9. A lot of App suggestions keep coming, like Dropbox or Google drive etc and you can turn them ON with a couple of clicks. You don't have to search the internet for news, products, software updates etc. Those things keep coming to you and you have to just accept it if required. 10. The battery has your back, really. Unless you are using the speakers, you can watch two full length movies (using headphones) without a worry. 11. When it sleeps, it really sleeps. You can put it to sleep with all your stuffs right on the screen and when you wake it up after 8-9 hours, you'll be delighted to see it consumed less than 5% of battery charge. And it wakes up faster than a German Shepherd :-) 12. The wifi is superb. It comes with "AC" version and that is really really faster. I can guaranty that comparing with my previous experience with youtube. Some issues I already faced so far: 1. Microsoft Edge: Don't like it at all. I installed Chrome immediately anyway. I would recommend to make Chrome or Mozilla your default browser. Edge sucks, but the is not actually an issue of this product. 2. Fingerprint magnet: Yes you heard me right. The matte finish body and the touch screen both are super magnet even with your nearly dry fingers. I am to find out if the screen has any tampered glass or screen guard available in market. Otherwise my heart breaks every time I use the touch screen. 3. Freebies: Some other brands offer at least a trial version of MS Office. Mine one came only with a free Kaspersky one year subscription that anyway does not cost much in the market. 4. Disc Space: Well, I purchased it knowing the fact that SSD costs more and comes with much lesser space than a mechanical disc HDD. After Windows 10 grabs a good chunk of space, you are left with very little choice and a tough job of prioritization of which stuffs to keep first. If you are getting this one, better start find some deals for a SSD portable drive as well. But try to avoid a magnetic disc traditional drive. You'll miss the fun. Overall: It's a good buy if performance is more important to you than disc space.

    Wireless Issues

Out of the box the wireless connection was a problem coming and going, but I did not want to return it so I went to the Dell website support section and downloaded the drivers required for my laptop. Since my laptop's wireless connection did not work I had to do it on another computer. I downloaded the update package to a USB drive and ran it on the laptop. This appears to have fixed the problem so far. I'll do an update after I have the computer for a few weeks. So far I like the feel and speed. Lets see if the wireless is really fixed. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/servicetag/F65Q782/drivers

Maybe bought somewhere else it could have worked

What I have found with my dealings with best buy is that you have to return the item the next day not a week later if you wish a refund. For me it was a nightmare since I spent several days trying to get the audio to work and things to not freeze up on the laptop. When I bought it and turned it on there was a crack in the side of the screen but since it was the last one like it and cheap that made me think if I could stand to deal with it long enough to get my pages and work online done while in fort worth it was worth it. Sadly the crack in the screen was not the only problem for the first day I tried to set it up and got online the computer kept freezing up. Also the audio stopped working after just a few hours. I was upset and had to work so put it aside and went to do things on my phone and tablet. Sadly the 2nd day after I reset it to factory settings several times it still seemed not working. I could not take off work time to go to the store and return it so waited a few days. When there they said they could not help with it since it was not brought back the next day yet why does it say there is a longer time frame to return items. Anyway I will be glad to get back to the real world and not have to deal with companies like bestbuy *that type of company dealings is not legal in Europe.Too bad I did not wait until back home to shop for a new one*

    great laptop!

My teenage son needed a new laptop for school so we researched laptops. This is not a cheap one, he already had one of those. He really likes the feature where you can fold it in half and use it like a tablet. It also turns on and shuts down fast which is great for school when you need to get going and need to put the laptop in your bag when the school bell rings. Very nice Dell laptop.

I like the size, I had to buy office 365 and apparently do everything a regular computer does. Is great for college. The only problem I found so far was setting it up. I couldn't get to the internet and I had to call Dell Support after almost 2 hours on the phone, Dell did all the updates necessary to get me running.

I was looking for a smaller light laptop from the one I have at home, wanted something that I can use to write and go on line and also watch some shows on it. So far this is a perfect size to take on the go. I never own Dell before but I feel they are much better.

Best bang for your buck with this screen size

Best performance and hardware for this screen size. Knocking off a star because the first one had a defective (intermittently working) touchpad which turned out to be a hardware issue. No problems with the second unit though.

Very pleased with 2-in-1 Dell Inspiron

    Posted .

I previously purchased a Microsoft Surface 3 128GB but exchanged it for this Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 Laptop and it's a much better upgrade than expected. The Surface 3 ran on a X8700 atom processor with 4GB Ram and this runs on a i3-6100U with Intel HD 520 Graphics/8GB Ram. I received the computer for $492 from previously owning the $449 Surface 3. So the upgrade for about $40 was well worth it as the Surface 3 didn't come with a Keyboard and the Dell still has touchscreen, more ports, and a stronger wifi/battery life. This laptop is perfect for any type of work being done on it whether it's photoshop, video rendering, or playing overwatch at 60fps on medium which the Surface 3 couldn't do. I'd take a 2-in-1 laptop rather than a tablet any day as it's faster and offers a bigger screen for the same price while performing the same or even better, more intensive tasks than a tablet. -Patrick

    Poor quality laptop

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this laptop on black Friday 2015 and my sister bought the exact same kind. For me, this laptop failed 3 times and I had to return it because a blue screen would come up and render the laptop useless, so after my 4th laptop (same kind) it finally didn't mess up and i'm using it today. The only reason I don't want to get a new laptop is because i don't want to go through the trouble of buying a new one, however the mouse pad isn't working correctly and I had to purchase a wired mouse. My sisters laptop was a different story, she had to go back a total of 7 times in one week and finally she had enough and didn't take a replacement laptop, so now she is using her old 2009 HP laptop and she is more happy with a slow outdated laptop than this new and "improved" laptop. The geek squad even booted up the laptop in-store 5 different times and made sure it had all the updates we downloaded but as soon as she would power it off then power it back on it would have the same problem. I definitely would not recommend this laptop. The low quality for the price you pay for it just isn't worth your time

    Disappointed

This was the first bad experience we have had with Best Buy. Set up the computer and it worked well for a few days but started cascading images on the screen. We took it back for a replacement. They did not have one in stock and had to ship it. When we got the next one it did not have a setup program and would not connect to the Internet. In fact it did not have wifi listed in the Internet setting. After working with it we found that it had an account for someone named Jason. They had sent us a used laptop! When we returned for a second time they only wanted to give us a gift cert not a refund. The employee finally did the right thing but it took awhile. Now we need to start over again.

After looking around best buy for a while I decided on this computer for what I needed. They offered me the slightly used one for a discounted price. Took it home and as soon as I had it set up it would not be able to find or connect to any network and there are multiple in my complex. Even after troubleshooting it would find my network then cut out and give me no options for internet. Took it back and asked for a new one and exactly the same thing happened. This computer also took multiple presses of the power button to finally turn on. Overall conclusion is that I will not be trying another one. Terrible computer.
