Crappy product
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased one 9/8 We returned it brand new After 11 days. It wasn’t working right. It kept alarming and was turning rainbow colors. Then we got an exact replacement 9/19. (This one under review) that lasted less than a month before it was doing the same thing. So we’re returning it today and never buying it again.

the worse loaner ever
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this laptop as a loaner until my Lenovo Yoga was repaired. What a waste of time and money. I absolutely hated this device and could to wait to return it and get my full refund. I was not able to do any of my school work on this device and ended up carrying and using my heavy 17' HP. If my Lenovo is ever out for repair and I want something light to carry with me to complete school assignments, I will purchase a chrome book.

Posted .Maddy,
Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear about the charging issues and the overheating that you've been experiencing. Here are some tips to help keep your computer at a cooler temperature:
Tips for Proper Usage:
1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

Posted .Openeyes,
We're sorry to hear about the issues that you had while setting up your new Dell laptop. In the future, here are some steps you can follow to activate Windows on a new machine: If you are receiving a Windows 10 Home Activation Error you can follow these steps:
1. Verify that the system has an active internet connection (open a web browser and navigate to Microsoft.com)
NOTE: Follow standard network troubleshooting if the system cannot connect to the internet.
2. Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Activation , and then select Troubleshoot.
3. The system should now activate and the error message should disappear automatically. You can read the full article here: https://dell.to/2PKUhQ8.
If you have trouble with a WIFI connection, you can always visit the product support page to ensure that your drivers and software are all up to date.

Posted .Spraynard,
We're sorry to hear about the trouble you've been having starting your computer. Here are some troubleshooting steps:
1. If the computer is displaying the Dell logo and does not move past that point, it has probably failed POST.
2. If the power indicator lights up and it is amber or orange, this is usually an indicator that it has failed POST.
3. If you see text on a black screen, the computer is currently performing the POST. If the computer stays in that condition and does not move past it, it has probably failed POST.
4. If the video screen displayed anything at all during the startup process but is now black, this probably indicates that the computer failed POST.
5. If the computer is beeping or if Caps/Num/Scroll Locks are flashing, note if there is a particular pattern in which it beeps or flashes.
6. If the computer is not beeping and caps/num/scroll locks are not flashing, unplug all connections and remove all media communication devices (e.g. external monitors); reconnect one at a time and check if the computer functions.
7. For a notebook, press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button. This starts the pre-boot testing and will launch ePSA. In case you have a Desktop at the Dell logo screen tap the F12 key to enter One Time Boot Menu and use the arrow keys to highlight Diagnostics and press enter.

Computer fine BUT
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is fine BUT I’m extremely annoyed that I had to replace a similar model Dell computer that lasted only about 3 years before the battery died. Geek Squad was unable to open it up to replace battery.

We're sorry to hear about the service issues that you had with your previous laptop. If you'd like to find out ways to extend the battery on your current computer, you can try these tips:
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

Great if you can find a perfect open box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Release around 6/2019, I bought this 11/20/19 open box (satisfactory) for $545 after taxes. There was not a single scratch on the laptop except a few faint scratches on the service sticker in the back. I went to dell.com paid $50 to extend my warranty another year to 10/2021... So all in all paid $600 for this bad boy with a two year warranty. myPROS: At $550 the specs are unmatched, the 4k display is gorgeous, the stylus is nifty, keyboard and touchpad is good, and processor runs snappy myCons: battery life realistically 3-5hrs-general 7hrs-max It would be perfect if it was FHD1080p and had 7hrs of general use. The fan runs alot and machine runs hot. I would have returned but its not as bad after bios update and taking out the bloatware. The speakers are meh could have been better. Overall, i would not pay $1100 for this machine maybe $750 brand new because of the poor battery life and how it runs hot/fan's constantly on BUT @ $550 its a no-brainer My advice: check your local bestbuy to see if they have these open box and check the condition. If you find a good one then extend your warranty another year for $50 at Dell That way you'll have a 2 year warranty.

Might be a good laptop, but fan noise is horrible!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop brand new and unfortunately it's going back to the store because it couldn't be any louder. Dell Power Manager allows you to choose between "Quiet" "Cool" and other higher performance settings, but even "Quiet" is not enough, it's still loud as can be. I went online looking for solutions and there are more people hating this right out of the box, so even though it might be a great computer and it has nice specs and a nice finish, I could not make this part of my everyday life. I updated everything including the BIOS via Dell updates hoping it would fix it but it didn't. Even an app for fan control did not work on this model. So I just wanted to share this. I don't know if I got a lemon, but I believe this is how this model is, from what I read. Too bad, I had high hopes!

Amazing user experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was immediately impressed with the materials. The chassis, keyboard, and touchpad all feel great. I put it to the test by downloading Anaconda and simultaneously setting up Outlook and didn't have any problems. I did notice that it ran pretty hot on initial setup and Windows updates, but other than that the cooling system seems okay for now. Seems feature-packed and perfect for business/personal. Would recommend setting up the dark theme and "Your Phone" app, but didn't care much for Microsoft launcher on my phone.

Dirty & tons of finger prints everywhere !!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hi, I bought it computer Dell Inspiron 2in 1, 13.3" 4K Ultra HD Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD + Optane - Black Model, OPEN BOX-EXCELLENT CONDITION AND CERTIFIED but ... I want to tell you my first impression ... the computer is extremely dirty and dusty everywhere, on the screen you can see many marked fingers, it is as if I had years outdoors I just need to find cobwebs. I can't believe that BEST BUY can't take 1 minute and dust it off and clean the screen before to send the item. I paid almost $ 800.00 and I got a gross computer! I will give you my second impression later and I hope to find no problem in the operation system, now that I opened the box and I saw how dirty is, it does not make me want to turn it on and automatically check it, I am very upset.

bad hinges
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.anyone who buys this laptop should be aware that Dell will NOT honor your warranty when the hinges start to crack. I have a 3 month old Inspiron that has light use and has small cracks appearing. When I tried to get the laptop repaired under warranty Dell told me that this is accidental damage and I need to Pay for repairs. Do not buy this laptop because Dell will not honor your warranty for defective hinges
