Laptop works fine however, it heats up quickly while charging and using it simultaneously. Battery not durable at all, and make sure you carry the charger if you plan on using it away from home.

Purchased this for my son's school. He loves it, it has been easy to use, and it works great. Did everything it advertised. Usually have to buy a new laptop every year (because they seem designed to crash to make you buy a new one) but a year later and its still working like new. Inspired me to write this review.

Great decent quality laptop. I only used it for studying and rare instance for personal usage. The picture quality is great and can't complain. I had a problem when I first purchased but was able to replace with ease at bestbuy at the time my warranty is still applicable.

It just stopped work a few weeks in. The keyboard would light on for literally 1 second and the computer would not turn on. I had to send it back to Dell for repairs. Very frustrating.

Beautiful laptop that is hindered by poor ventilation. The i7 is a bad choice for this laptop as it is not properly ventilated. Fans run loud when doing most tasks and the device constantly throttles. The 4K screen is hard to appreciate as dim as it is. I tried hooking the HDMI out to a 4K TV, but it struggled to output steady video with the laptop throttling. The Optane also does little to speed up the slow write speed of the QLC drive. Very disappointing device for such a high price point. I would recommend one of the Inspiron 7000 units with an i5 and 1080p screen instead. They perform better at nearly half the cost.

      Aaron,

Thanks for your valuable feedback. We're sorry that your computer is not completely what you hoped it would be. If you'd like your computer to operate at a cooler temperature, here are some tips:

      Tips for Proper Usage:

      1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
      2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
      3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
      4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
      5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
      6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2uJ8AdG.

If you'd like to see if your computer monitor can be brighter, we'd suggest looking into a Factory Reset so that the settings will go back to the way they were intended to be.

We hope these tips help your 2-In-1 perform better for you.

      Best,
      Bryan

      jack,

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear about the heating issues and the fan noise. We'd recommend checking to see if the BIOS on your computer needs to be updated:

An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer. You can also follow up with our Technical Support Team here - 1-800-624-9896.

generally like very much. don't seem to have fan noise or heat problem Negative...seems slow in boot time compared to my old Lenovo,,,can not figure out keyboard lighting scheme, comes on upon boot, then goes away and none of the suggested ways to engage work. Sometimes takes two to four clicks to power on, then await till fingerprint reader is ready to work. I thought the turnon procedure would be one quick flick live new Lenavos.

      Ernie,

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that your computer is not booting up as fast as you'd like it to. We'd recommend trying to change the number of programs that boot at startup in order to speed up the startup time:

      1. Close all open windows.
      2. Press CTRL + Shift + ESC key together on the keyboard.
      3. In the Task Manager window, click Startup tab.
      4. Select the program or application that you want to disable from loading during startup.
      5. Right-click and select Disable.
      6. Repeat Step 4 & 5 for all the programs or applications that you want to disable from loading during startup.
      7. Restart your PC.

This is a decent daily laptop, but I wouldn't use it for much else. I like the build. From the full size stylus that sticks in the hinge, to the keyboard. It has a great feel. The performance though. On paper it sounds decent, but it just isn't there. Maybe Dell is throttling it too much to conserve battery, which is OK, but not great. If you want to use this for web browsing and some docs it would be ok, but not great.
