Within 3 weeks after purchase, it started to make a strange, loud sound. The first appointment with the Geek Squad did not identify the cause. I have an appointment to take it back for a stress test. So the jury is still out.

      Robsbro,

We appreciate your feedback and we're sorry to hear that your computer is making noises. Here are some tips that we'd recommend you try:

      A: Cleaning the Vents

      1. Check the vents on the computer to see if they are covered with dust and not allowing heat and air to pass through.
      2. Turn off the system.
      3. Remove all power sources: Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery, or unplug the desktop power Cord.
      4. Use a compressed air can to blow the dust out of the vents. Be sure to hold the can at an upright angle (near 90 degrees), and hold it 15-20 centimeters (6-8 inches) away from the vent.

B: Update the BIOS: An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer.

We hope these tips will help your computer run quieter for you.

Overpriced for an average laptop. It constantly asks how I want to print attachments even though I select pdf always in the box. Can have a loud fan at times and doesn't have enough ports

    Repackaged no new laptop

I noticed right away that items were already set up on my :"New" laptop, but things got weird fast. Word had the name and email address of some one else attached to it, files would appear and disappear from nowhere. Ultimately, more than 7500 files appeared in my documents from someone putting together for a sewer/water proposal for a city I've never heard of. At the same time my webmail was locked after too many log in attempts, I had not logged in that day. My cable provider could not fix the email problem and I could access my email on other laptops. I called Geek Squad and after the person helping talked to her supervisor, they both felt this was a laptop that had been returned to Dell then repackaged as new. I took it back to the store and today I have a new replacement. So, we shall see if this one gets a better rating after I've use it for a while. But the fact that this was presented to me and packaged as a brand new laptop will always be a problem for me and I will always now have my doubts about recommending a Dell product to anyone.

This was a great computer as long as it is comparable with your router for wifi. I have a Netger wifi only 3 years old. This computer would always show this site can not be reached. It would connect every were else but my home. I had to pay Netger for a years service and after 3 days 4 hours each they never fixed the problem, Dell even though a new computer would not even look at it unless I paid them. Best Buy Geek wanted to charge me as will for their service to fix but did exchange it for another of the same. When that didn't work exchanged it for another $300. more. I had good service from Best Buy. But very disappointed in Dell. And will never ever look at another one of there poor products

We purchased this laptop and the key board did not work. Best Buy fully refunded and we purchase a different one. Later we had read it was a semi common issue with this brand.

I have owned this laptop for 7 months now and I could not be happier. With the SSd it is very fast even with the intel core i3. It boots up fast and runs smooth. The backlit keyboard is responsive but just a tad tight for larger hands however after a short time isn't an issue. Touch screen and touch pad have worked flawlessly even when in tablet mode. The screen is really sharp in HD and the size is perfect. Battery life has been great. Best laptop I have ever owned by far. If your looking for a daily driver to surf, check emails, stream and run some games and windows programs like word and excel, this will not disappoint. If your looking for something really powerful with lots of memory that can do it all with 20 tabs open at once keep looking.
