It seemed like a great deal. Around $500 w/ the college student disc. First one I purchased, no wi-fi driver. Took it to the Geeksquad but couldn't fix it. Exchanged it for another one. returned it after a day due to constant dabbing noise.

    Great for a college student

I have the Core i5 version with a 256gb SSD, and this computer is perfect for college. Every time I see someone with a Surface or a MacBook, I laugh a little on this inside, because this computer is lightyears better in performance, versatility, and price (I got it for $499 with Student Deals). Pros: This computer is very fast, and can breeze through several word docs and 20 open tabs in Chrome without a sweat. The SSD makes it super silent, and even the fan is very quiet. It runs Kerbal Space Program very smoothly with medium graphics. The versatility is amazing, and the touchscreen is a must have for Windows 10. I use it all the time switching between pdfs and other programs. It also has a backlit keyboard, which is super cool. I has both a normal webcam and an infrared webcam that is uses for facial recognition when signing in. The battery is really good, I've never used the whole battery in a day. If you're just chugging away in Word without wifi on, it'll last upwards of 14 hours. The battery IS removable, as is the SSD and RAM. Cons: The power button on the side is a little inconvenient, I've accidentally bumped it several times. The screen's brightness can't go quite low enough, it can be blinding in a dark room.

    Perfect Laptop for School

I sold my Surface 3 tablet to purchase this laptop for school. I needed something with a bit more power, and getting this on sale plus $150 off for college discount was a no brainer. Exceptional battery life, Perfect size and super lightweight. While the Surface 3 was only about 1.5 pounds, this is much sturdier and still feels premium. The screen is clear enough for a touch screen, although I'm more fond of a non-touchscreen laptop that would give it better quality. The SSD and DDR4 memory make this laptop very speedy. The speakers leave something to be desired, but you don't buy an ultralight laptop like this for speaker quality anyway. The feel of the touchpad and keys seem very nice. The keys aren't as premium as others (ASUS, MSI) but better than some (HP, Acer) I do like that this has a USB Type C port and a FULL-sized HDMI port. Very nice compared to other laptops of this size who have a mini HDMI. (This is actually my first time typing anything of length at all on this keyboard and I just wanted to mention that it is actually pretty comfortable to use. Not bad for something that isn't top of the line.)

Touchscreen stopped working after 5 days so I returned it. No one was able to get it to work at the store again. In reality, they didn't even try. Said it was pretty common.

    Amazing Laptop for the Price!!

Fantastic laptop. For 256GB SSD and a touch screen with the latest i5 processor you really can't go wrong. The only gripes I have is the placement of the power button...lower right corner. I have accidentally turned it off a few times. Also there is a weird thing with the speakers as the left side sounds slightly louder than the right. I have tried to correct the issue running tests, etc to no avail. Not really that much of a bother though. Also when inserting headphones it makes you click what device you've insterted everytime before they work. I think there is a fix for this as a default device, but I haven't figured it out yet. Sounds like a lot of gripes, but I really am nitpicking. This laptop is absolutely fantastic. Never thought I'd own a Dell, but for the price and what you're getting from what I've found this is the best deal out there!

    Great MacBook Pro Alternative

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

DON'T LET NEGATIVE REVIEWS DISCOURAGE YOU, Windows-based PCs are notable for not being as reliable as Macs out-of-the-box, so a simple exchange or Windows customization may be the solution if you feel that you have a faulty product. Overall, this computer is very fast, with almost identical specs to a MacBook Pro that costs twice as much. The hardware is what really makes this machine stand out from ultrabooks and Macs that cost hundreds of dollars more; the trackpad and the keyboard are outstanding and on par with if not superior to those found on a Macbook. The construction is amazingly sturdy and makes this machine feel indestructible. The hinge for the 2-in-1 feature is also very good, and I feel confident that it can last for many years with the same sturdiness. Windows 10 looks great and works surprisingly well on this laptop, but I have experienced random audio popping sounds as have other reviewers. Perhaps later driver updates will provide a solution, but such a minor qualm shouldn't deter you from purchasing this machine by any means. My biggest issue is the battery life, which in real world use lasts anywhere from 4 to 7 hours, which is significantly lower than MacBook Air's dominant 10 to 13 hour battery life. BOTTOM LINE, software and Windows 10 features are essentially identical to those found on most ultrabooks, and the internals are on par with more expensive models. This is the laptop for you if you need powerful internals and mighty construction, but can deal with lower battery life than other ultrabooks.

    Impressive Dell 2-in-1 Laptop

Purchased this for my father who loves this fast laptop. The touch screen is very useful when reading and can easily convert to regular laptop mode. Very easy to setup and the boot time is fast (thanks to SSD). The screen display is excellent with good placement of webcam for video chatting purposes. The power button is a bit tricky, but with practice we can make sure that we don't press it by accident. The battery life is good for now and hoping that it will be good for long. The touch pad is not very smooth, but my father uses a wireless mouse and not a bog deal for us. The laptop is light weight and easy to carry around.

    Almost perfect Laptop

This computer is nearly perfect. For the price of $500 (After the sales price $650 was further reduced by the $150 student discount) I can't complain much. The specs are quite impressive although the screen resolution could be better its still beautiful (and I'm comparing this to my brother's new Lenovo Yoga 900, so that's saying a lot) Unfortunately, this is actually my third one of this model. My first one had a flaw with abnormal fan noise, and the volume rocker on the right side of the laptop was jammed in. The second one had the same issue with the volume rocker except this had added manufacturing flaws. It seemed the attendant who put the final pieces together did a horrible job; its screen didn't line up with the frame properly and the gap was so big not only was it easily noticeable but dust accumulation also occurred, not to mention the camera was not in its centered position behind the camera glass covered whole. It angers me that it would make it out of the facility looking like that. So i had to switch it out once more for my third and final shot, I couldn't be more satisfied. Although, I never had a problem with the specs and speed I myself am a freak and my exterior hardware needs to be near perfect. Unfortunately, not to my surprise I noticed another flaw. The touch pad is a bit unusual. The right side seems to click in a little easier than the left and makes a louder feedback noise than the left. I don't know if this is more of an allusion considering the right interior of the laptop is more halo and that is resulting in the louder feed back but its definitely disappoint. My concern are the long term effects where the touch pad may eventually stop working. I primary got this laptop for school and play. The speed, battery efficiency and weight and size appear to be exactly what a college student needs. Furthermore, I highly highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a great, fast, efficient and beautiful 2-in-1 laptop. Although, the price is back up to $800 it's certainly still worth the price, considering the added student discount you may also get on top. Bring it down to $650, which is great for the specs included. Side note: it actually works quite well as a tablet, particularly when reading notes or streaming videos while laying down.

I picked up the Dell - Inspiron 2-in-1 as stepping stone towards a a full blown Mac and am very happy I did. It's light, powerful and convenient as heck. I tried a 2 Lenovos 1 month prior (17 laptop and Yoga) and this blows them away. The touch screen wasn't a priority, but makes it very easy when I feel like being lazy to look something up. I can't wait to see how it performs a year from now.

Fast, Portable, and Easy to Use!

I needed a new laptop for school that would be small enough to carry around all day and not be a hassle when I needed to have it open for note taking or minor research browsing during class. So far the laptop is doing really well! The battery life is great. I was able to be on Facebook, YouTube, Hulu, and my games for 6hrs without the computer needing to be charged. Mind you, I'm not knowledgeable about certain specs, but this is what I know: Volume on the speakers (and when you have headphones in) is very good. Videos display clearly, and when editing photos online I don't have a problem with the computer crashing (the processor is great!) The tablet feature is nice, although with the weight, it can be hard to hold it up like you would a smaller tablet (for example, using skype). However it's more comfortable to watch videos/movies with the computer in tablet mode when you're able to hold it in your lap. The camera on the computer is ok, I would give it a 3/5. It isn't very noisy, however it isn't super clear. The mouse pad can be very sensitive at times. I could be trying to scroll down, and with the placement of my fingers, I can increase the zoom on the screen. Of course this can be fixed by pressing ctrl and - or +, but it can be annoying at times. Having windows 10 already installed is also great. The apps run smoothly! So far I'm happy and would recommend anyone to try this computer! Especially if you're in college and you need something compact and fast.
