    Love this machine

Only negative I can say is that the trackpad is a bit imprecise and twitchy. But it's acceptable. Everything else is great--build quality, speed, attractive design, features, responsiveness, touchscreen, battery life, tablet use, ports (especially a USB-C port at this price), all great. Light enough to use as a tablet if you're sitting on the couch.

    Loose trackpad with inconsistent clicking

Like most laptops nowadays (for whatever reason), this Dell had a noticeably-loose trackpad, where even light taps will make a sound as though it's already bottoming-out. What's worse is that, when clicking, the feeling of the click from the left side was totally different from that of the right. I didn't even bother turning the laptop on. It was out of the box and back in within minutes.

    Great Portable Laptop

Pros: Size - great portability Lighted Keyboard - a must have for me Speed - 7th Gen i7 CPU means i wont have to replace for a long time Ram - 12GB Ram is over kill for me but who knows what the future holds. Speakers - Plenty load enough for my failng ears. Battery Life - great due in part to the SSD Hard Drive & 7th Gen i7 CPU Cons: Slippery Metal Body - scary slippery, I have to hold with both hands, afraid i will slip the grip and drop it. Power Button Location - right side edge is stupid place to put power button. i have hit it several times and shut it off by accident. As far as the 2-1 concept - i could care less, I don't understand why anyone would want to use this like a tablet and have to hold it up all the time instead of as a laptop and let the hinges do it, if i could have got this package as just a standard laptop i would have. Touch Screen - Who cares, just what i want - finger smudges on my screen On a Scale of 1-5, if not for the slippery metal body & Power Button Location i would have given a rating of 7. Looks like i over bought, i was doing some data recovery on a Linux Hard Drive then converting the files to windows format. When checking the system performance i was only using a small percentage of system CPU & Ram. Looks like I could have spent half the money on a i5 8GB ram and done just as well. good thing is that i might be able to use this computer for the next ten years if it lasts that long as opposed to only 3-5 years for a lessor computer. The Price at Best Buy was competitive with what i could have bought it for online so better to have it now instead of having to wait for shipping.

I bought this laptop 4 times from Best Buy and every single laptop had a yellowish tint. Essentially, the white screen you see on the model laptop is actual white and way better than the new laptop even though they both have got the same settings.

I read the reviews before I bought it. It's a very nice small 2 in 1 13inch laptop and you would expect the battery to serve you for at least the 5 or 6 hours as advertised. However, the % drains very fast. The laptop serves me for 2 hours only.

Went through 2 of these in less than 2 years, both had bad charging ports that would either not work or melt the charger.

I was using a MacBook Pro at work. When I left my job, I needed to buy a new laptop. Macs were way too expensive for how I use them, so I decided to take the plunge and get a Windows laptop pc. I did a little online research before walking into Best Buy. I looked at Dell, HP, and Lenovo and the salesmen helped me narrow it down. This was the perfect solution. Super fast. Great features. Looks great. The touch-screen and tablet mode are awesome! (Apple... why don't you have touch-screens???) And it was $150 off! Other than Microsoft wanting to force you to use all of their products/apps, the only design flaw is with the location of the power switch... I keep moving my laptop and turning it off. Also, this laptop only uses wireless, so make sure you have good service.

I love that the computer is light. It has the speed and space that I need to do the work required for school. I've been a long time Dell user. I wasn't sure whether to get the XPS or another Inspiron. This one definitely didn't disappoint. I've had a few problems here or there however, upon giving Dell customer service a call----they've been nothing but helpful and have always alleviated whatever problems I've had. The touchscreen and tablet option have proven to be very useful and I didn't think I would use it alot at all.

Computer lasted 6 years before any issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Overall a great computer used daily for 6+years. The only issue was about the 6th year, we had to replace the battery, as it would not hold a charge anymore and the hinge on the left side broke away from the screen later that year. The screen still works, but we were told that it would have to be replaced and could not be repaired.

Great laptop for what it is

I picked up one of these with the new Kaby Lake (7th gen) processor. It seems like a solidly built machine, and everything has worked so far. It's not particularly flashy, and you don't get the same kind of experience of unboxing like you would with an apple or an XPS or an HP spectre, but I'm very happy to pay less money for packaging that will be thrown into storage within 10 minutes. I really like the design choices that dell has made - they haven't gone cheap on construction, they've kept the screen at 1080p (anything above this is kind of pointless on a 13"), added a USB-C port (with power delivery - which works great with the WD15 dell dock), and kept legacy ports (USB-3, HDMI, SD card). Also pleasantly, there is not too much bloatware - mcafee antivirus, and a suit of at least half-useful utilities. The keyboard is comfortable to type on, with a satisfying click. The touchpad is not glass, but seems responsive enough, if a little rigid to click. The only minor gripe I've got so far is with the fan. The reviews I read said it was not on often and was hardly noticeable. Perhaps I am more sensitive, but I can notice it, and it is more than rare, although it doesn't often get to full speed.
