    Rough Start but Pleased

After several frustrating hours trying to determine why the wireless adapter wasn't working, the adapter started working fine, and I have had no problem with my new Dell Inspiron 13 I7 2-in-1 since. I chose the Dell 13 for its features - I7 processor, 8GB memory, screen size, resolution and quality, backlit keyboard, solid state drive and weight. I've not been disappointed so far. The advertised quad-core 3.1 GHz speed is a little misleading compared to the properties listed on the computer itself, which says 2.5 GHz, but researching it I found the processor has "turbo boost" speed up to a 3.1 speed. Regardless, the machine starts extremely fast, and I'm pleased with the overall speed and performance. I'm still getting used to the 2-in-1 feature, I've always been protective of my laptops' hinges, so time will tell on that. Based on experience so far, I think this is a great laptop and I hope it lasts as long as my previous Dell 15.

There must be a glitch in the solid state component as I had my children who have degrees in computer making try to make this work and they couldn't. Stay away from Best Buy and Solid State things for a while.

I purchased this computer as a recommendation from the geek squad employee. This computer literally fried in less than 2 weeks. It is absolute junk. I ended up buying a MacBook Pro and its is awesome.

After much frustration, this unit had to be returned to the store. Geek Squad was not surprised, which also was frustrating.

Terrific laptop for on the go

The Dell 7000 13.3 inch has exceeded my expectations of what a $800 laptop can be. All day battery life, great screen, good keyboard (backlit). Only compromise is the touchpad, not Apple great, but better than my work issued Dell 6430. Works great with Windows 10, I never use the touch, but may someday. The wireless connection issue mentioned by others is real, but was easily fixed (5 minutes) by updating wireless card driver. No problem since updating. Makes no noise and has not gotten hot. Love it.

As other reviews have stated, out of the box the computer won't work properly. I got one computer, turned it on and the wireless wouldn't connect and the computer wouldn't start/re-start correctly. Thinking I had a bad computer, I brought it back and exchanged it. Same thing happened on the second computer. Called Dell Support, they said to download the new drivers. That would be great if Wireless wasn't one of the issues, and the fact that the computer doesn't have an ethernet port, so make sure you have an ethernet connector (purchased separately of course). Dell Customer service was horrible. After sitting on hold for 30 minutes, I got disconnected 3 times. At this point, I still haven't gotten the computer working. I warned the workers at Best Buy of this problem. Quality control definitely messed up on this one. This is the first time I've bought a computer where it hasn't worked properly out of the box.

I love this laptop. It does everything I need it to do with ease (email, videos, light gaming, etc.). I see a lot of reviews mentioning issues with the WiFi. I too had issues with my WiFi disconnecting at random times, but I updated the drivers via the Dell website and now the WiFi behaves like a champ. If anyone is having issues with WiFi, I would suggest updating your drivers and seeing if that solves the issue (it should).

WiFi and Bluetooth will not stay connected.Strike

Strike 3 Dell. I have been a long time advocate of Dell. I have purchased many Dell products over the years. Dell always under promised and over delivered. I have had many of their upper end XPS for myself. The last thee laptops I purchased in the last two years all had issues. But I was able to help people set them up and work around the problems. Now I decide to purchase a 2 n 1 for travel. This laptop could not stay connected to WiFi and Bluetooth devises. Dell support had no solution. I took this product back and upgraded to the next model. Same issue. Customer service said they were not aware of this issue. But you can use any search engine and find it all over the Internet . So I returned the second one and spent more money upgrading to the newest processors and all bells and whistles. After 2 hours on phone with Dell customer service I gave up. Back to the store I went for a forth time this month. I was told by a salesman in the store that I was not the only one returning these machines. I take lack of customer service and 3 machines with same issues as strike 3. Dell your new laptops are useless. Customer loyalty is something that I train to all my employees. I guess at age 48 I am no longer in touch with companies using a good name to deliver inferior products and expect long time customers not to notice. Strike three you are out!

i was weary of purchasing based on others saying they lose their internet connection, but took a chance. the only time i dont have internet is when the computer comes out of sleep mode - it takes about 30 seconds for my network to show up and auto connect. so, i set it to never sleep when plugged in. i didnt expect to spend more than 600 on a new laptop, but i was sold on the solid state hard drive being faster and it is a very noticeable difference. unfortunately, i needed the bigger hard drive so i have to spend the 900 otherwise i would have gone with the model under this one which has been on sale for 650. lucky for me its on sale today for 100 less than i paid for it and within the price match period.

I will start off buy saying I read almost every review of this computer on Best Buys website. I realize that there were a lot of issues with the wireless driver and to b honest the answer was also in the reviews. A simple driver update. Now I did buy mine open box and maybe geek squad had gone through and done this driver update but my computer has been nothing but a dream! No problems at all. Started off with a HP specter x360 and it died with in the two week return period. Returned and decided to take my chance with the Dell. Glad I did. It is just as fast. Little heavier but not bad. Battery life is amazing with the battery saver option. Currently have Call of Duty Modern Warefare 3 on it. Runs great on medium settings. Read a crazy thing about ultra book gaming and decided to give it a try. Gonna try Battlefied 4 next. Touch screen is very responsive and fast. Would highly recommend. Just remember not to rule this computer out because of a simple driver update. Has tons of performance for very reasonable. Look for an open box and save even more!

    WiFi issues

I went through two and returned both. WiFi would connect for a few seconds and then drop the connection.(adapter would vanish from settings) I thought the first was a faulty unit but the second was just the same. Both would also struggle to restart after dropping the WiFi throwing a blue screen with power issue message. It is probably a driver issue but good luck updating them with no WiFi or ethernet port. You shouldn't have to fight with a new PC anyway. Replaced it with a Lenovo 900 which had no WiFi issues. Credit to Best buy for having a painless exchange policy.

    Great laptop for school.

I purchased this laptop after my previous one broke down. My use for this laptop is very limited since I only use it for school, but it's done the job so far. i really enjoy the speed of this laptop. It's a huge upgrade from my previous one. Start up is never usually more than a minute or so. I downsized from a 15 inch to this 13 inch, but it hasn't caused much of a problem. On the contrary, this laptop is super light that it's more convenient for me to carry around now. The only flaws (or at least things I consider to be flaws) I've noticed so far are: 1. There is no ethernet port. 2. When flipped completely, there is about an inch space between the screens. In other words, it does not flip a complete 360 degrees.

    Buyers Beware

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

As my summary states, buyer should beware. I read other reviews of the product and happened upon a unit that suffered most of the same issues. I thought I could figure out the wireless issue on my own and even after an update, several diagnostics tests and the addition of a usb wireless adapter, I still couldn't fix the installed wireless card. Another few quirks that ultimately resulted in me deciding to return the unit: every 3rd or 4th restart is resulting in a in an error which then takes about 5 minutes for the restart to complete. The Dell diagnostic tool is intermittently unresponsive, it typically required a reboot to get it to work again. Finally there was a decent amount of back-light bleed through around the lower edges. It was more noticeable on start up, but seeing how I didn't keep the unit for that long, it might have been worse than immediately evident.

I bought this after reading reviews and compared prices from a few web sites. Bought it to replace my old dell. The 2-1 is pretty handy, and am finding myself using this more than my Ipad. Speed is where it should be for a I7chip, SSD and everything in this machine makes it fast. Small enough for me to take it with me in my smaller backpack.

    WIFI issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this computer for the I7 processor and 8GB RAM. I figured it should be fast and able to process well. I was also drawn to the touchscreen and its light weight. However, I had a few major problems with this laptop. Number 1, wifi is intermittent. After an hour the wifi will automatically shut off. I could restart the computer 3-4 times and then the wifi would work again. That was a completely unacceptable method. However, it did allow me to get back online to research the problem. After researching online, I found that there is a power saving feature that allows the computer to shut off the wifi to save power. I turned this off but still had trouble with the wifi. Additionally, I downloaded driver updates for the network adapter. Again, it still shuts itself off. The most frustrating part is you can see a switch on the wifi indicator to toggle it on and off, however, it won't turn back on unless you restart the computer a few times. Second issue with this computer is the sensitivity of the touchpad and touchscreen. The mouse movement (even after adjusting the sensitivity in the control panel) is unreliable. As for the touch screen, it has a tendency to recognize a touch even when I haven't touched it, but other times when I am touching it, it does not react. Third issue is the speed of the computer. I figured and I7 chip and 8GB of RAM would be plenty for simple ops. However, it still takes too long for the computer to react. Often times, I will try to open a program or file only to wait 60 seconds for anything to happen. Isn't this the 21st century? If my 6 year old Toshiba wasn't so heavy and the screen starting to go out, I would keep using it. I thought this computer would be a good replacement. However, my old Toshiba is reliable on the internet, and a much quicker system. Respectfully, Disappointed.
