A solid 2-in-1, but not top of the line

There can be a lot to consider when looking at a 2-in-1 laptop, but when looking for somewhere to start, this isn't a bad laptop to start your search with. The AMD 7000-series Ryzen 5 is more than capable for most tasks and even some light gaming, and won't leave you wanting more. The nice display is nice and sharp, with a bright screen. I could see the screen easily while sitting in the shade on a bright sunny day, with the screen brightness set at max. And even with brightness set at max, I was able to download updates and watch youtube without having to worry about the battery. So, there are a few corners cut on this laptop, but screen, battery, and CPU are not among them. The display is a 16:10 aspect ratio, meaning it's slightly more square than a television, which some people like. Where Dell went for cost-cutting is with weight, and RAM. This laptop only comes with 8gb of RAM, which is pretty bare-minimum (I really think most computers should be shipping with 16gb these days), so some more RAM intensive websites or programs will introduce slowness, which is unfortunate, and doesn't appear to be upgradable. As far as 2-in-1 laptops go... I don't have a scale with me, but this is a bit on the heavier side, given its size. It doesn't feel cheap by any stretch, just hefty. I thought this might be from cooling, but the cooler looks average inside, despite it looking like they included 2 heat vents on the back, one is a dummy. That being said, even on hot days, I've not had much issue with heat or fan noise, so maybe the cooling is adequate, but usually I find laptops are under-cooled (which means it could slow down in hot environments, or the case can become hot to the touch and uncomfortable to rest on your lap). Dell has configured the screen and back of this laptop to lift up a little bit with the screen open in a normal clamshell configuration, which is nice for ergonomics, which I'm glad they did since it's something that's usually tossed to the side in favor of appearance (side note, this metallic blue is pretty slick looking). Upward firing speakers on either side of the keyboard are also very nice. Anytime I've used a laptop where the speakers are hidden underneath have usually sounded muddled and quiet. You won't have that problem here, as the sound is loud and clear. Quality isn't going to knock your socks off, but just having the speakers where they are makes it automatically better than half the laptops out there. One other thing to note on bloatware... Dell included "SmartByte", which is a program by Rivet Networks. It's apparently designed to optimize your network traffic, but a quick google search shows there is some bad experiences with the app. Uninstalling it doesn't seem to fully get rid of it either since some services remain. There don't seem to be many recent complaints, but I uninstalled it anyway to avoid unexpected issues down the road. Also, includes McAffee, which is pretty standard, but easy to uninstall these days. Overall, a solid slightly lower-end 2-in-1 laptop

A laptop can become, over time, more than a tool for school or work, in a tool that gives us access to not only be productive and solve issues that concern us in the day to day, but also to entertain us, draw, listen to music, make calls or video calls to our loved ones and friends, read, surf the web and check our social networks, and if possible even play a video game. Not all laptops offer these features, however Dell has put in this device enough to carry out the tasks mentioned above, to this we must add the fact that the screen of this device is touch and can practically become a tablet, so the benefit is twofold. The packaging seems simple but fair, a relatively small box where comes the laptop, the power adapter, the power cord and the quick start guide along with warranty information, all ready to take out of the box connect it to the power and ready, you can start the configuration of the laptop. The setup is carried out step by step using the Windows setup wizard, which by the way comes preinstalled in the Windows 11 Home version. During the configuration you can customize most of the functions of the PC, just take a few minutes to analyze step by step what you want or do not want to install or activate depending on the use and personal tastes. Regarding performance, despite having only 8 GB of ram, most apps run smoothly, this is because it also has a 512 GB MVMe M.2 SSD memory MVMe, which together with the Ryzen 5 7530U processor, make everything go in the best possible way. Having several windows and programs running at the same time, I have not found practically no inconvenience, except for the battery consumption which logically rises. I consider that this laptop is not the most optimal for gaming, although I tried some online games not as heavy as Fall Guys or Rocket League in medium graphics settings and performance, everything worked well, you can spend several hours of entertainment, but I do not think it is wise to play competitively. Regarding the screen, I must say that I really like the image quality, it is clear, with vivid colors, good lighting and when playing multimedia content the quality of the screen is noticeable. In addition to being a good quality screen 1920x1200 FHD, it is touch, which makes it can be used as a tablet, you can also use, if you have it, a Dell stylus.. The response of the touch screen is very good and an important thing is that the fingerprints are not marked on the screen, if it is true that it gets dirty but it is not the same as all over the screen are marked fingerprints. What sometimes happens is that depending on the lighting of the room where one is working, it may sometimes reflect a little more light. It has a FHD front camera which does its job well, however the image quality despite being acceptable is not the best, but for video calls or video conferencing is fine.

Let me start by saying this computer is solid. The build quality is fantastic - utilizing a mix of high-quality plastics and aluminum. The chassis has minimal flex and the keys have the perfect amount of travel for me. The hinge mechanism feels robust, the touch screen is responsive/accurate, and the battery life is absolutely fantastic. I average about 7-8 hours of normal use on a single charge which is more than enough for anything I need. The screen resolution is also perfect for the size. The text is crisp and the viewing angles are better than most laptops I've used at this price point. I have to hand it to Dell, they really knocked it out of the park. The attention to detail really sets this computer apart from the competition. The colling is quite and barely noticeable under substantial loads. That being said...there is one major flaw that I see. Wile most tasks do feel snappy, the amount of ram in this system is a huge bottleneck and limits it's full potential. I would recommend either spending the extra money to get the 16GB version or looking into whether or not this model is user upgradable. For context, If I launch Microsoft Edge with more than 7 tabs open, the RAM usage of the system becomes close to being maxed which will hurt multitasking should you need to throw more at it. Other than the RAM bottleneck, the CPU is snappy and rarely stressed. This is definitely a system I look forward to using for years to come.

Excellent description for open box is not this. Additionally, the laptop was shipped loosely in a box with no bubble wrap. Literally flopping around in a box during shipment. My job has shipped used laptops in better packaging. This is absurd.

This is a sleek designed compact two-in-one laptop, I immediately liked its stand-out color as soon as I opened the box. It ran Dell's usual setup along with Windows & Dell updates. It didn't take long before I was all good to go, just ensured that my AC power cord was plugged in. This has Ryzen 5 7530U processor along with 6 cores and 12 threads including 512GB SSD & 8GB RAM that give just the right processing power. The SD storage slot gives an opportunity to extend the memory if required. The keyboard has a backlight in three modes and the touchpad is big enough to navigate through the entire screen, I hardly miss my mouse while working on this trackpad. The screen size of 14" is decent as it's a compact laptop but the great part is the 2-in-1 feature that enables it to use it as a big tablet with a touch screen. The FHD screen resolution is at par with the other laptops in the similar category which is 1920 X 1200 with 60Hz refresh rate. It works well for playing videos and games that do not use too much processing. Most of the graphics-heavy PC games came off pretty well. The one thing I like the most is its lid-open sensor that turns on the device immediately to log in instantly and securely. Even after opening multiple browsers and tabs, the performance didn't deteriorate and maintained a steady performance. The battery life is good as I was able to work on it for about 5-6 hours without the need to plug it in again.

INITIAL CONFIGURATION & INSTALLED APPS Like many Dell products, this Inspiron proved to be issue free during initial set-up and configuration. Between Windows update and the Dell Owner Website, any initial configuration, set-up, or driver issues were easily rectified. I highly recommend browsing the Dell driver update website based on your Dell Service Tag, as Windows update failed to identify the most recent bios update. Windows update found 1 bios update, but Dell had an updated one on their website. The first bios update to 1.2.1 was extremely nerve racking and took nearly 10 minutes. Most of that with no movement on the progress bar. Fortunately, the update installed without issue & there have been no performance or driver issues. Dell doesn’t deliver the laptop to you with a pure, unaltered version of Windows 11. Instead, there is a moderate amount of bloatware. Included in the unnecessary bloatware is McAfee Anti-Virus (installed by default & always has issues being totally wiped clean), numerous Dell assistants and software, 3 full versions of Office 365 (English, Spanish, and French), as well as McAfee Web Advisor. While this may not normally be an issue (other than McAfee), but with only 512GB of NVMe space, every little bit counts. DISPLAY AND KEYBOARD The 14” display is very crisp and clear. The touchscreen supports a better than full HD resolution of 1900 x 1200. The display has quite a bit of glare, as it is a very reflective surface, but it is very nice to look at once you get the color adjusted. Speaking of the display, initial color accuracy is way off. Honestly, when I first got the laptop, I was kind of put off by the out of the box color reproduction. It was yellowy and unpleasant to look at. After several hours of use, I finally got tired of the colors and grabbed my colorimeter. Using the colorimeter and profiling software, the color accuracy was VASTLY improved and almost dead on. Now the display is bright, crisp, clear, and very pleasing to look at. Colors are now much truer to life. The keyboard is equally as pleasing to use. Even with a more compact size than I am used to, the keys have a nice, responsive feel, without a lot of the membrane style mushiness. Overall, the keyboard and display provide for a premium feel, better than its current price point. UPGRADEABILITY This is one of the few areas that leaves the consumer wanting. The specs for this machine are what is considered entry-level at this point. 512GB of hard drive space and only 8GB of RAM. Not that it is a bad thing, as most computers can be upgraded as time progresses and users’ needs increase. Unfortunately, the Inspiron 14’s RAM is not upgradeable, as confirmed by the Dell associates. The NVMe drive and Wi-Fi adapter are upgradeable. The NVMe drive shipped with the Inspiron is a 2230 drive, but Dell has wisely opted for the ability for an end-user put a normal 2280 sized NVMe drive. Wi-Fi card is a standard Key A or E card and replaceable as well, but I have experienced no issues with the RealTek Wi-Fi 6E card installed from the factory, as Wi-Fi connections have proven consistent and reliable with good speeds. BATTERY LIFE Battery life has been averaging around 3 hours, more or less. I’m sure this could be increased by using the Battery Saver function built into Windows 11 or by lowering the brightness down from 120 nits as recommended by my monitor calibration software. However, the display is so crisp and natural looking at these settings, I hate to reduce overall brightness. CONCLUSION This would make a good laptop for anyone needing a basic and dependable machine. This display is nice to look at (once calibrated) and the overall feel and functionality of the 2 in 1 design is quite good. Battery life is decent for being such a small battery, but I still wish it had more reserve capacity. The only thing holding this back from a 5-star rating, is the inability to add more RAM and the McAfee Anti-Virus installed an active immediately from start-up. Speed and responsiveness have never been an issue. A small, lightweight laptop with good performance, crisp display, and excellent ergonomics. RECOMMENDED

I bought the Dell Inspiron 14” 2-in-1 Touch Laptop a few months ago, and it’s been a great choice for my daily needs. It runs smoothly thanks to the AMD Ryzen 5 processor, 8GB of memory, and 512GB SSD, so whether I’m working, streaming, or multitasking, it handles everything without a hitch. One of my favorite features is the 2-in-1 design. I love being able to switch between laptop and tablet mode—it’s super convenient for taking notes or even just relaxing while watching a show. The touchscreen is responsive, and the lavender blue color is such a nice touch—it feels unique and modern. The battery life is decent, lasting me around 7-8 hours with normal use, but it does drain a bit quicker during heavier tasks. The keyboard is comfortable to type on, and the display is bright and vibrant indoors, although it could be a little brighter for outdoor use. For the price this laptop offers great value. It’s perfect for casual users, students, or anyone looking for a flexible, reliable, and stylish laptop. I’m really happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend it!

Very good laptop when considering the price. Open box at my store for under $500. Be prepared to do lots of updates when you first startup the laptop. WiFi only out-of-the-box; no Ethernet port unless you get a separate USB dongle. Performs the basics very well, but don’t expect it to do any gaming. The case is all-aluminum, which is a nice feature at this price point. Runs quiet and cool. Only disappointment was the RAM is soldered on, so no way to upgrade from 8 GB. Not as disappointing was there is only one M.2 slot, and it’s occupied with the 512 GB drive. Really that’s plenty of storage to install Windows, Office, and store thousands of documents/photos. Battery easily lasts all day with screen set at about half brightness. Display is clear, WUXGA standard is a little better than 1080P, and it looks great on the 14” screen. 2-in-1 design is neat but not very practical. This one is either closed or open about 90 degrees. Chiclet keyboard is about as good as any other laptop keyboard. Backlighting has adjustable brightness. Easy login with fingerprint scanner integrated in the power button. Startup is 10 seconds or less.

--->The Good <--- First, the construction quality of this laptop is quite good. It seems very solidly built. It seems sturdy, and the keyboard and touch pad are both nice for this price point. The screen is bright with plenty of contrast, and it is a touch screen. The power button doubles as a fingerprint sensor, and it features a USB-A, headphone jack, and SD reader on the right. The left side sports a full-size HDMI and two USB-C ports that both support charging and Display-Port Alternate mode. This means that you can easily use a single cable to dock this laptop to your desktop setup. It can easily drive an ultra-widescreen monitor. The speakers are mounted underneath grilles on the sides of the keyboard, so you get speakers that actually fire up at you, instead of down on the table. The speakers are quite good for a laptop of this size and price. In addition, the battery should give you around ten hours of life (more or less, depending on the task you are doing). So far, things are looking quite good indeed. The included 512 GB M.2 SSD can easily be replaced. The included SSD is only 30mm long, but it comes with an extender to make it fit an 80mm slot, so it can easily be upgraded with another 30mm or 80mm unit. ---> The Bad <--- The machine came pre-installed with junk software including McAffee anti-virus software, which can make a good computer run slow. It also came with Alexa installed too, but these can be easily removed. ---> The Ugly <--- The big elephant in the room is the memory in this computer. It only has 8GB of RAM. It is DDR5, and appears to be 4400 speed class, but there is not enough of it. I did not bother with benchmarks, as the limited memory is going to prevent this from being used for anything heavy-duty. It is fine for casual web browsing and common office tasks. But for anything serious, this limitation is going to seriously kneecap the performance. Just having FireFox and Word open at the same time used up most of the memory. Plus, the memory is soldered to the motherboard, so upgrading is not even an option. This computer is too expensive to be considered a “cheap” computer but does not have enough memory to be considered a “serious” computer. So it falls awkwardly between the two categories. If 8 GB of memory is enough, then you can get a cheaper machine that will serve just as well. On the other hand, if you need performance, then don’t get this. So it is well-constructed, but the specifications just don’t make sense. This is a shame, as the CPU itself is rather nice and would be capable of so much more.

A solid little mid-ranger with excellent bang for the buck, especially at the sale price of $550. This laptop delivers great battery life, modern connectivity including Wifi 6, two Type C charging ports (say goodbye to proprietary chargers) and ample external display connectivity either through the HDMI port or either of the two USB C ports working in DisplayPort mode through a dock or adapter. It's relatively lightweight, feels fairly sturdy, and also offers a good 1080P (really 1200P) 16:10 touch display. While many won't use the touch screen, the option is nice. Also, for those coming from an older 13", this laptop may be a similar footprint despite the larger screen size, mainly due to the fairly thin bezels. The processor is very snappy and responsive, and being a modern 6 core, is capable of some heavy lifting. The onboard graphics is also capable of light gaming (mainly esports titles) but measure your expectations accordingly: this is not a gaming machine. The only weak point is the soldered 8 GB of RAM. I feel that, without changing anything else, a bump to 16 GB (even for an extra $50 or $100) would have made this nearly perfect. 8 GB is enough for many people, but we're leaving the era where this standard is near-universally sufficient.

I got this computer when it was on sale for about $530. I like it a lot, honestly I want to give it five stars but the better more objective rating is 4 stars. ((4.5 stars for me!)) It's definitely not 3 stars like the "experts" said, but I think they are being too harsh/and are too spoiled to begin with. Congratulations, you've just spent $5000 on a computer with an amazing display but it also has no other good use or functionality besides having a pretty desktop!!! <<<typical average consumer with low I.Q So yeah, the only thing really "wrong" or concerning with this computer is the display; it doesn't have the best color accuracy and it doesn't get bright enough. It's not a huge issue, but you can't help but notice it at times. However, I would recommend calibrating the display in settings and you can up the gamma levels that way and it does make it a little better. The battery life on this thing is average to good. You sometimes want it to be better. The AMD processor in this thing is great (the best part imo), and I think for the average person AMD beats Intel as it's better for multi-tasking whereas Intel is too focused on 'how pretty can we make this look' at the expense of actual use and functionality. (Not good) It runs like a happy kitten I would say. But I would recommend removing the bloatware when you first get yours. And make sure to update the BIOS when you get it, I had to do that to mine. That helped A LOT with the loud fan noise people sometimes complain about. They still kick on, but nowhere where as bad if you don't clean it up/update your drivers. It took a bit of work to make it useable but once you do, you'll most likely be a happy camper. Bottom line is this thing runs great and overall I'm really happy with mine. I've had very expensive computers the "experts" rave about...they broke down on me after like two weeks of use. This isn't the flashiest computer with the best display, but it does other things so well. You can also game on this thing great, but on low-ish settings and I would make sure the game is a few years old as well. I play a game from the 2008-ish era on this thing great, but that's me- I don't like the modern games too much anyway. I would say it's definitely not built for gaming though, but is great to surf the web and write documents on. I make my own video game using RPG Maker 2003 on this thing, and with the 2 in 1 design and touch screen with pen support that makes it great for that purpose. Dell also has one of the best customer support out there, and they seem to really care and want an actual relationship with it's customers rather than only 'let's see how much money I can exploit from people with low IQ and only just want to look at pretty things at the expense of everything else.'

    Overall Great Budget Laptop

This is a decent budget touchscreen laptop. At first glance, this machine is beautiful. The stock images of the Blue Lavander do it no justice. The laptop itself is lightweight and sleek. Setup was a breeze. Walking through all of the prompted steps for set up and updates took less than 10 minutes. I really like this keyboard. For me it has a really nice feel when typing. Many times when getting a new laptop it takes a few days to get used to the spacing and feel of the keyboard. I did not have that issue with this one. The fingerprint scanner was a nice touch as well. It was super simple to set up and has worked very well. Some fingerprint scanners can be finicky especially because I have a big scar on my right index finger. However I have not had any issues with this scanner not reading my fingerprint. The 2-1 feature is neat. This is the first time I have had a laptop with this functionality. the touch screen is very reactive, but also not overly sensitive. I love that you can flip the screen backwards and have a flat, tablet like feel while having all of the functionality of a laptop. I so have a Surface and I feel this is much more capable for laptop type functions such as spreadsheets, ect. In the factory settings, the screen is a bit dim and not super vibrant- but with a little tweaking of the settings the machine produces a great quality image. The bad: There are only a few things I wasn't super satisfied with. One is the webcam. It left much to be desired. In the day and age where people are doing much more from home (work, school, get togethers). The images are not very crisp at all. they have a bit of a pixled blur around hard edges. It also does this some when moving around also. Picture attached to show image quality. I have another Dell laptop for work- and the webcam is a much higher quality image. While this is a bummer- I had to remind myself that this is still a relatively entry level laptop. The other negative is how little Ram this has and the fact that it is not upgradable. Something to keep in mind if this is going to be used for more than some basic web searches, word docs and occasional streaming.

If your looking for an easy to navigate, comfortable size and fast, 2 and 1 laptop , the dell inspiron 14" is a great package., from a laptop to a tablet in seconds, bestbuy was there to explain how it works, how this laptop will fulfill your needs, the battery life is great too with key buttons to dim screen and key lights. the dell inspiron 2-1 is a great laptop for a great price.

I have used Dell laptops since I started buying laptops and they never disappoint. In fact, the only reason I recently purchased a new one is because my 7 years old son dropped my previous one and broke it. The battery life, the transportability, speed, and size are all just what I want and needed! Would have liked a different color but there's other options for that.

    Attractive Laptop For Solid Productivity

In the past few years I’ve had a couple Dell computers, most recently a desktop which was nearly dead out of the box. I was skeptical of the performance I’d find from the Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 Laptop I got from Tech Insider but I was willing to try again if only to verify I just got a dud last time. This is a convertible laptop, so it has a touch screen and can be folded all the way back to be a large tablet if you so desire. The keyboard is standard QWERTY with the number keys above (no 10 key) and function and volume keys above those. There’s a fingerprint reader in the top right, it's small but seems to work well. Under the hood is an AMD Ryzen 5 7530U with integrated graphics (again, standard for non-gaming laptops), 8 gigs of RAM, and a 455 gb hard drive (only 400 is usable). I was excited to find that it features two USB-C ports (one for charging), an HDMI port, a single USB-A, and an SD Card reader. The laptop overall its a metal shell in a really cool “blue violet” color, which is really just metallic light blue, and it feels hefty enough to take a little knocking around if you wanted to take it to work or airplane trips. This is a laptop for productivity, you won’t be playing many games or doing many intensive graphic design/photo editing jobs here but it handled Photoshop well enough. The keyboard feels a little cramped even for a laptop but it gets the job done. Touchpad was fine, screen is OK but in direct sunlight its hard to read even on the highest brightness settings. I found the sound output to be pretty good and fairly loud compared to a lot of laptops I’ve used before. Battery is listed as running for 12 hours, and like any computer your mileage will vary but I charged it up overnight when I got it and haven’t plugged it in again since. Its now day four and I have 43% left, which is better than I expected considering I turned up the screen brightness. Mind, that’s only pulling it out to play with for a couple hours here and there but still the battery seems solid, which is a huge point in the pros column. Overall I’m impressed with this laptop, its not going to be mistaken for cutting edge technology but it will let you do your bills, watch some movies, type up a review for Best Buy, and still have plenty of battery left to get you through a full day of work or school. If you’re looking for a well built and attractive computer to get stuff done then you may want to check this out.
