Premium full-featured laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Dell Inspiron 5000 is a full-featured, high-performance laptop that can also be used as a tablet (that's the 2-in-1 feature). I use it as a conventional laptop 99% of the time since it is quite compact and I like a regular physical keyboard. It works fine as a tablet but I always feel weird having the keyboard exposed on the back side when it is folded like a tablet. As far as specs go, this unit is set up well. The Intel i7 processor is fast, 16 GB of RAM is fantastic, and the 512 GB SSD is a nvme M2 drive and is fast and spacious. The screen is crisp and clear, there's a fingerprint sensor in the power button, and there is a mix of USB-A and USB-C ports, along with an HDMI port. The intel graphics are more than good enough for general computing and typical computer use. It's not a gaming laptop. Battery life is several hours which in my opinion is quite good for a machine with this level of performance.

Happy with Dell
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Originally I was slightly concerned with buying a used device labeled ‘Satisfactory’, but we’re pleasantly surprised. It appears and runs essentially like a brand new device

Does It For Me!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not an extremely techy person and only use my laptop for school, searching and booking trips. I plan to venture into creating a YouTube channel soon so the storage was important for future editing use.

14” two in 1 that doesn’t disappoint
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the Inspiron 14 2-in1! It has a sleek design, it is very easy to set up and start using, and the battery seems to last a long time. The touchscreen works very well, even if you push quite hard the screen does not get pushed back like I have seen on other laptops. Only issue is that you get a lot of notifications from Dell, but these can be turned off pretty easily in just a few minutes. The hinges seem pretty sturdy and hold the screen at any position. Getting used to the keyboard was pretty easy after using a full size keyboard. I have used a 13” two in one before and the extra inch makes a big difference. If you are looking for a two in one, you can’t go wrong with this one.

Some flaws, but good performance.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro: -Fast and responsive -Intel Iris Xe, capable of less intensive gaming -Better airflow design Con: -Heavy for its size -Keyboard gets warm -Screen less vivid -Touchpad clicking doesn’t feel solid -A lot of bloatware Build It’s a bit heavier and thicker than other laptops of the same size. The overall body is solid with minimal flex and almost no wobble. The screen hinge is tight and can’t be opened with one hand. There’s two USB 3 ports, a USB C (which double for power), HDMI out, headphone jack, and a SD card reader. The speakers are at the bottom corners. The vents on the bottom are lifted about half an inch in laptop mode, and about a quarter inch in tablet mode, so airflow is less restricted. The keyboard feels fine to type. It has a combination power/fingerprint reader at the top right, which is fast during start up. The trackpad doesn't feel as nice. While the touch functions work fine, the actual clicking is very stiff. The right click feels as if the assembly isn’t quite right. I have to press harder and there’s a noticeable gap before the click is registered. Display The color is a bit disappointing. It’s less saturated and looks faded in comparison to other laptops I have. The viewing angle is fine with the color shifting starting at about 45 degrees. The touch display works as expected, no complaints. Sound The speakers aren’t that great. While they can get decently loud, they sound a bit muffled as if you’re putting your hands over them. They sound better if it’s lifted off the surface. At higher volume the sound quality starts to drop. It’s not bad for a laptop speaker, but I’ve heard better. Battery Battery life is about 4-5 hours of continuous use. I had it running streams for the entire session and was able to do some light gaming for a few hours. Performance For everyday activities, I haven’t had any issues. It starts up fast and the i7 and 16 GB of ram is capable of handling any day to day tasks. The Intel iRis Xe is capable of less intensive gaming at lower settings. The keyboard can get warm during higher CPU usage or while it’s plugged in. Definitely noticeable during use. Once the fan kicks in, it stays relatively quiet. The camera, as expected, is not very good. It’s grainy and the colors are desaturated. It will do its job for occasional calls. At least there’s a slider that covers it for privacy. Summary This laptop is overall fine. There’s nothing offensively bad but nothing that stands out either. It’s a bit heavier than other 2-in-1’s I’ve used. Its build is solid with no flexing or wobbling. Battery life is about 4-5 hours. Performance is good thanks to its CPU and iRIS Xe graphics. Even some light gaming is possible. Display is somewhat desaturated, and the sound isn’t the greatest, but neither are deal breakers. Overall a good everyday laptop for work or school.

Great first 2-in-1
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a my first 2 in 1 laptop and I can’t say I’m sold on the concept as a whole, but this machine is a great laptop anyway. The machine is sleek and lightweight. Nothing super fancy as far as style goes, but its nice and small. Right out of the box I noticed a few features I really liked. The adapter that came with the laptop is a 65W dell adapter that is a USBc connection. That got me excited that they may have finally done away with the ridiculous handicapping of your computer if you don’t have a dell brand adapter. I tried using a usbc hub/dock that delivers power as well. It did work for charging, but claimed that it was slow/charging and to use the dell charger. I took it off the dock and used a USBc charger that can deliver up to 65W which would match the Dell charger. I again got the same warning. Using the laptop on while unplugged, while plugged into the dell charger and into the generic power supply showed no issues in performance, but it did charge slower, but not much. I estimated 20% slower, but I didn’t run any real hard core tests to make sure that is accurate. So as far as I can tell there is good news that you can use any charger you want, it may slow down the charging speed, but Dell appears to have stopped hobbling the performance of your entire laptop too. The overall performance of the laptop is what would be expected. Dell still insists on filling the device with bloatware and it will take you a while to clean it all off and sort through what is necessary and not. I’ve been a little more careful since I’m not sure what software actually improves performance on a 2-in-1 and what is a waste but I’m sure I’ll get it running better and better over time. I always am really tempted to take a star off for bloatware because I’m so sick of it, but I decided not to since that’s what happens with every computer so its not like most customers have a better option in that regard. I like the fingerprint scanner and slider to block the webcam. These are both great little features, and especially with the slider, fantastic privacy add-ons that really cost nearly nothing to include. 2-in-1 mode so far just isn’t really my cup of tea. I can see where its can be really useful and I know I’ll appreciate it now and then, but generally speaking I like regular laptop mode so I’m torn if the additional cost is worth it. The screen is bright and clear, and I’ve had no complaints on the responsiveness of the touch screen. Nothing that stood out enough to note, but it all ran smoothly so nothing you need to be concerned about either. Windows 10 adds some limitations that irritate me. For example, if we have 2 accounts on the computer (mine as the admin, and the family one where kids can log in) I can’t put my fingerprint on both accounts. Its annoying, but not Dell’s fault. Also in tablet mode, it doesn’t pop up a keyboard automatically when I select the search bar on a browser. Very annoying, but there probably is a setting to fix that which I haven’t found yet. When you do get the keyboard, the swipe program is horrible. Again, not Dell’s fault but it is a big drawback for me when it comes to non-android tablets and especially these hybrid products. All the best apps, utilities and tools are designed for the biggest market so Windows 10 tablet mode just always feels like it falls short. Overall a great laptop that also shows signs that Dell is continuing to head in the right direction with there machines overall.

Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very happy with the laptop. But sometimes the A key does not work maybe because it was a open box item. I was told no warranty so I just deal with it.
