Malware & popups every time I get on the Internet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worst computer I ever bought. Took back 4 times to get malware & popups off. Wouldn't let me return or exchange because it was past the 15 day return policy.

Works great once you update to latest drivers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop was smooth as glass in the store. The 4K screen was amazing. Picked one up and brought it home. Unfortunately, the factory WiFi driver did not work and there are no ethernet ports. Luckily, I had an old USB to Ethernet dongle. Once I downloaded all of the updated drivers from Dell's website via ethernet, WiFi started working as expected. The 5400 RPM drive is slow but you only notice that when doing massive installs or updates. It works great for everyday use at school.

Best of both words: huge tablet and decent laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife uses this as her primary computer and she loves it. We have been through four generations of Dell laptops over the last decade. We each purchased one of these. I use mine for offsite data collection and presentations while she users her as a Prekindergarten teacher and Masters student and I am a consultant and PhD student. For us the laptops and decent for the price we paid, though I plan on upgrading hers with discrete graphics and additional memory.

Excellent laptop, better than a Surface
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ultra HD screen, I7 Intel Processor, and 1TB of memory = Excellent laptop. I experienced some of the issues users are complaining about (screen flickering) but once I installed some updates (drivers, bios, wifi) problems were gone.I wish it had the capability to expand it to more than 8GB (so far the only con). I am just loving it, better deal that getting a Surface.

Great value for a solid 2 in 1
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop has served me without issue for me since my purchase. I am almost always running multiple applications from web browsing to streaming video to MS productivity software(excel, etc.). So far the Dell has handled them with solid performance and precious few glitches. Features wise: - The display is visually outstanding and very responsive to touch. - Tablet mode works quite well. I have large hands so size wise it is not unwieldy for me, but people with small hands might find it to be less than manageable. - The layout of the keyboard works very well and the back lighting is a great feature at this price point. I do find the keys to be a little shallower than I'd like (again, big hands). - Weight wise I find it to feel lighter than the specs would indicate. - The battery life has been good. - Sound quality is quite good despite the small size of the speakers. At this price point I have been very pleased with my purchase and have and would continue to recommend this product to others.

Excellent value, problem with updates
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I haven't seen anything with similar specs for anything close to the price. Buying an open box product made the value even better. The UHD 4K screen is amazing. I'm nearsighted, so I can read small print. I upped the magnification to 175% and that gives me a lot of very crisp real estate to work with. Pictures and video are incredible. I'm planning to buy a UHD 4K monitor to go with it, but that hasn't happened quite yet. Therein lies one of the problems. There's no Display Port. The only options are HDMI or a USB video adapter. From what I've been able to gather, you can only do 30 fps with UHD over HDMI, rather than 60 fps with Display Port. I'm not a gamer, so it may not make a difference. I miss not having a number pad, but I have a USB keyboard and mouse that I use when I'm not traveling. I have a number of programs and movies on DVD and Blu-Ray. I wish it had a burner/player. I did have a problem with Windows 10's driver verifier throwing up BSODs. I don't know what it didn't like, but saving $100 on the open box was worth a little troubleshooting. Advice: Don't use Intel's site for drivers. There are some newer ones that don't work with this model, specifically the Wi-Fi. It knocked out my network adapter completely. Rather than continue blindly, I called Dell tech support and Nicole (from the Phillipines, but understandable) was extremely helpful. She directed me to the Dell download site and we installed a BIOS update and the previous Intel adapter driver. That brought the network back up. She remoted in and checked other things. It looked good, so I let her go with her promise to help if it happened again. It did, but she had pointed in the right direction. Before calling, I downloaded and installed every new driver (after mid-September 2015). That seems to have resolved the issues. I hope this helps anyone with an similar issue. Except as noted, I really like the notebook. At nearly half the price (on sale + open box) of anything similar, it was definitely worth it.

For $899, best PC you can buy!...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying I am VERY picky about my PC. I was hesitant to buy this unit based upon some of the reviews complaining of bad wifi, screen flickering etc. Don't know if the drivers have been updated since those reviews but I've had NONE of those issues GOOD: 1) Screen is simply amazing. 2) Build quality MUCH better than previous iteration of this unit. Soft touch plastic shell, less flex in the keyboard and more solid feeling glass over the screen. 3) The 6th Gen i7 is very quick and runs cool. I am getting almost ZERO FAN CHURN or the fan is so quiet I barely hear it. 4) Keys are solid, responsive and don't feel cheap. 5) As a Surface Pro owner, don't underestimate the eye-strain and related headaches that working on such a small screen all day can give you. 15" is definitely the sweet spot for a laptop. BAD: 1) First unit I picked up had pretty bad light bleed on the bottom center. Make sure you check for that. Second unit was perfect. 2) The 5400 RPM HDD is a JOKE. Spend $70 and get yourself a 240 GB SSD. Easy to install (be gentle) and you will thank yourself. For the money, nothing else out there touches this. HIGHLY recommend. I can only assume those complaining in prior reviews were unlucky and got lemons. That happens.

Going back
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop was going to be used for professional school where reliability is a must for taking exams online. I read the reviews for this laptop and decided to get it(though I was a bit worried about encountering problems that were stated in the reviews). I have had it for 2 days now and will be returning it. For almost a thousand dollars, I expected no problems with this laptop. I did not experience the wifi signal dropping like earlier reviewers. I did, however, experience the screen glitches/jumping. As I am writing this review, it is jumping on and off. It has even glitched and froze for about 30 seconds. I have had horrible hardware luck with past HP laptops and was looking for a laptop that will last me years. I am crazy careful with my electronics, so it is not something I have done. So far, I am not liking the durability of this laptop. The resolution is nice, but with a 15.6" screen, I expected bigger words...Things do not get resized(blown up) like it should, and I find myself having to lean in to read. I did not have to do that with my boyfriend's 13.3" Asus that he lent me. The sound is good even though the speakers are located at the bottom of the laptop. The speed is alright, not as lightning fast as I expected. The 2 year old Asus I borrowed had about the same speed. All in all, I will be getting an Asus after this.

Bad Intel drivers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this laptop on black Friday. The wireless adapter card would only work intermittently. Loaded latest drivers from Dell website which still did not fix the problem. Called Dell support and after working with them for 2 hours on phone they advised me to get a replacement from bestbuy. So I got a replacement laptop but exact same issue persisted. Additionally, in the second laptop the Video drivers also failed to load. Looks like Dell needs to do some quality Assurance before shipping it. FYI it is the intel drivers that are failing. Overall well built laptop and 4k display is great. Excellent deal if it worked :(

Fast processor!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this laptop for two weeks. First couldn't connect to wifi because the driver wasn't updated. I fixed the problem by downloaded the new driver to a flash drive and installed to the computer. Overall it was a very fast laptop however the 4K HD screen was a little bit too much for what I need. I'm a CS student, I use my laptop the most for my programming classes. The high resolution screen made my Java IDE icons look tiny as well as the dialog boxes. Did some research online and took it to Geek Squad but still couldn't solve the problem and eventually I had to return it.

Bought today and returning tomorrow
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So first of all when I opened the computer and turned it on I noticed right away the bottom left part of the screen above the hinge was clearly pressing very hard and causing the screen to discolor and show wrinkles. The right side of the screen seemed fine. So started the system and it was running very sloppy, side scroll bar not working, edge browser wouldn't let me access writing or setting, tablet mode not working correctly and the screen shaking nonstop. I ended up restarting it and the mousepad/side scroll bar still seem very unresponsive and lousy. The tablet mode issue was resolved after the restart and a change of settings. I liked that you can switch tablet mode from landscape to portrait and can write when surfing the web using the Edge browser. I also really like the screen quality and keyboard. Although it seems there is a lot of unused space on the keyboard that could have been used and a lot of space around the screen which I didn't really like the look of. Overall I love Windows 10, love tablet mode, and the keyboard but there isn't much else good about this computer. Because of the mousepad and hinge/screen issue I don't think it is worth the price and not something that I could keep and use on a daily basis.
