Beautiful device. Wrong purchase!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved this laptop when I saw it the first time, but then after days trying to install all the apps and want to configure it, I could never achieve it because it always threw an error. Then, I returned it to the store and for giving me another completely new one they wanted to charge me the original price, when I bought it at another price on offer. crazy!!!

Completely died after 11 months
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only had it 11 months. Won’t even switch on. The Dell warranty is dumb - supposedly I mail it (and all my confidential data) to them. Not going to happen. Won’t buy Dell again.

If you are having trouble with your computer turning on we'd recommend trying these steps:
1. If the computer is displaying the Dell logo and does not move past that point, it has probably failed POST.
2. If the power indicator lights up and it is amber or orange, this is usually an indicator that it has failed POST.
3. If you see text on a black screen, the computer is currently performing the POST. If the computer stays in that condition and does not move past it, it has probably failed POST.
4. If the video screen displayed anything at all during the startup process but is now black, this probably indicates that the computer failed POST.
5. If the computer is beeping or if Caps/Num/Scroll Locks are flashing, note if there is a particular pattern in which it beeps or flashes.
6. If the computer is not beeping and caps/num/scroll locks are not flashing, unplug all connections and remove all media communication devices (e.g. external monitors); reconnect one at a time and check if the computer functions.
7. For a notebook, press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button. This starts the pre-boot testing and will launch ePSA. In case you have a Desktop at the Dell logo screen tap the F12 key to enter One Time Boot Menu and use the arrow keys to highlight Diagnostics and press enter.

Great for everyday computing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used this for school and it's great. It has a good size screen (15in) and can also be flipped over to be used like a tablet. Good performance for the price with an 8th gen i5. Will probably be a solid computer until 2025.

||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its started a software update and never finished. It messed itself up, cant connect to wifi or through cable internet. Do not recommend unless you want to spend $1200 on something that will destroy itself.

Great brand, great laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Touch screen works efficiently. I love that I cab fold it into a tablet. Wish it had the number pad on the side, but not a big deal. Never had one problem with this laptop and I’ve been using it consistently for 4, going on 5 years. Not a gaming laptop, wont run those very fast. But as a full-time college student from 2019-2023 I was ALWAYS on this thing. Never once had a hiccup

Cheaper is not a good enough excuse to forgo qual.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.User since 2019. Almost from the outset of purchasing this laptop, I started receiving update memos. I am not a Dell fan but it was cheaper than the HP which I have been regretting since I exchanged them. The keyboard and trackpad not as smooth as the HP. Ease of use not as smooth as the HP either. And lastly the battery life is really sad. Maybe 3 hours use on a full charge. Spend the extra money for the HP. I am about to buy the HP, esthetics, speakers, keyboard and trackpad much better and worth the extra money...

Decent computer for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer after my HP Pavilion's hard drive unexpectedly crashed. I'm a student, so one of those $1,000+ laptops are out of my price range especially on short notice. Even just before Black Friday I was able to get a BB Gold card in 1 day and finance it for $500 over 18 months, paying the rest out of pocket and debit card. I like some of the features it came with, though I can't imagine using Cortana's voice recognition in a public space like Starbucks (hey cortana… Hey Cortana... HEY CORTANA!) but it's easy to use either by touch pad or touch screen though I'd recommend getting at least a cheap stylus pen; staring at fingerprint smudges and not having a proper cleaner gets annoying fast. Something I don't like is the McAfee pre-installed. You get Webroot free for 3 months, at the same time you're getting pop-ups that your machine is unprotected with no firewall as if Windows Defender has nothing to do with security or firewalls. Speaking of security, I like the options Windows Hello gives you besides the classic password log-in: PIN code, facial recognition through the camera, and this model has a biometric fingerprint reader built into the power button. Sounds fantastic right? Just over a week after buying it, the fingerprint reader malfunctions and stops working. Like a snap, one of the main security features - built into the laptop... is gone. After some research, I've found the fingerprint reader device is by some company named Goodix. Goodix biometric readers have had malfunctions on other computers from other manufacturers as well; either some problem with the drivers or even Windows Update itself... something to do with the Springtime Update that has caused so many problems, no cure-all fixit exists even after several months (there are still support forum entries with people waiting for answers or answers that do not help such as re-installing Windows). I've made my own support ticket, but as I'm still within the 14-day return window, I'm seriously considering returning this otherwise great computer. If one feature malfunctions within 2 weeks, brand new, fresh out of the previously unopened box, what else will go wrong 1 month from now, 1 year from now? Thing is, this is probably caused by Windows and not a hardware problem so something else will probably malfunction in the next new computer. I can get by without the bio-reader, that won't stop me from using a computer, but the worry is still there about something new popping up next week. Yeah... probably taking it back today or tomorrow, still thinking about it.
