This is an excellent laptop. Powerfull, fast, high amount of RAM and SSD memory available. Despite being 15,6 in, is relativelly light weight.
The big screen tablet function is very good to show movies to my kids, while I also benefit from the Intel Core I7 for my business and personal use.

A nice looking computer that seems to be made well enough for the price. I had done a LOT of research and have had Dell for years.
I did not realise how much I would like and use the touch screen. Now when on an older computer I'm always automatically trying to use it as a touch screen (even though they are not).
I like that it folds around to a tablet however I don't use it as much as the touch screen.
The screen is firm enough but I think over time with all the flexing it will probably get a little loose.
The keyboard is usable but not as good as they get on laptops.
Don't know if it's windows 10 or the Dell but it has trouble getting onto a wifi network sometimes. I've had to restart the computer several times for this and other reasons.
It is quick enough. I was using an alienware before so am used to higher end laptops. This is quite good enough for daily biz use.
For the price I paid I'm very happy and have not looked back.

Overall good - no numeric keypad

Cons:
* Shame on me for not noticing that despite a large area for the keys, there's no numeric keypad. I do a fair amount with numbers and it's not nearly as efficient using the numbers above the letters, but hey I learned to type before there were PC's.
* I did know that it doesn't have a built-in DVD drive - I use only rarely, mainly to install Microsoft developer software from MSDN and I'm almost always at home so I purchased an inexpensive DVD R/W standalone - light enough to carry in my backpack when needed.
* Also did know there's only 1 standard USB port, plus the new type-C. Again I purchased an inexpensive USB hub for when I need both the mouse and DVD drive
Everything else about the computer is great:
* with the SSD boot-up is fast
* I like the facial recognition for login a Win 10 feature if device has proper camera type - configured on initial setup - saves typing.
Keyboard has good feel and track pad works OK - I mainly use a mouse (again an add-on).

First of all, I am not a gamer, so this is not a gaming laptop review. I use the laptop for work - Office and Photoshop occupy most of my time. This is a great laptop and I wouldn't hesitate to buy a second one if I needed one. The nicest thing about it was the lack of any crapware, when I set it up. I did not have to remove any unwanted software - that in itself is wonderful. The 500 gig SSD with the Intel i7 6th gen. processor is VERY fast and responsive and the screen is impressive - very clear, very sharp, great color - a pleasure to use and easy on the eyes. Battery life is fine, not sure it make the full 6 hours that I saw advertised somewhere, but it is very acceptable.
It doesn't have a separate number pad, but I'm not an accountant and can easily use the top row of numbers - haven't really missed the number pad.

Very Happy with Purchases

I waited over a year before purchasing a new laptop. At work, my employer only purchased Dell or Apple products. To keep my personal purchases compatible with those at work, I always purchased Dell, starting with a powerful desktop unit which I used for 7 years, then an XPS which I used for 8 years, and now a new Dell Inspiron i7 with SSD drive. I LOVE the speed of my newest laptop and highly recommend it. Because it doesn't have an Ethernet slot, I bought a j5 Gigabit Ethernet & HUB adapter to use with my router (mostly for speed and security). This laptop didn't come with a read/write CD/DVD drive, so I also purchased a LG Ultra Slim Portable Writer. In addition, since this laptop has a USB-C port, I purchased an adapter, so I could use that port with my new Seagate Backup Plus Slim. The person helping me with my purchases was Denise. She was Excellent and Very knowledgeable. I included Best Buy's Geek Squad plan for 3 years and Webroot because now that I'm retired, I no longer have tech support just a phone call away. I am by no means an expert, but I know enough to make sure I got all the items I needed during my purchase. I am very pleased with my selections!! Finally, I love the 12 month payment plan with no interest. That made a huge difference!

This computer, despite its lightweight and slim size, is incredibly fast. the touch screan is very responsive and super convenient. the only downside is battery life. even on power saver, fully charged, it lasts about 4 hours if all im doing is word processing, which isnt even all that bad. I have had no problems with it so far, as compared to my previous ASUS, which by the way has terrible costomer support, and was just falling apart steadily since i got it until it was virtually unusable. The Dell Inspiron is great for gaming, for watching movies, and just about anything else you want to do on it!

I purchased a Dell laptop with touch screen and the ability to convert to tablet mode. I love the speed and ease of use. This is very quiet as the inside is stable & not a "spinning disc". Works wonderful!

This is the 4th Dell laptop I've owned and the 5th I've purchased because they've always lasted me several years. I replaced the one I purchased just over 7 months ago because I wanted the 15.6" screen and there weren't many with the specs I wanted when I purchased the last one. Since my husband wanted a 13.3" screen & backlit keyboard I upgraded to this one. The only difference between the one my husband now uses & this one is screen size, RAM & hard drive size. I opted for the bigger screen since it was the same price. I love the silver color which has a cleaner look. The case looks like it will scratch easily but so far I don't have any. I have a tendency to multitask and this system is great at keeping up with me. It boots up faster than systems I've had in the past. The SSD is great because my last laptop with a SATA took a bad fall which punctured the harddrive and destroyed all of my data. Fortunately, most of it was already backed up. I was worried about not having enough space for all of my data but my last SSD was 256GB and I still had plenty of room.
The only "issues" I've had is with the precision touchpad - when typing my wrists were moving my cursor which got in the way of typing. I almost always use a mouse so I just disabled the touchpad when my mouse is connected. (If you always use a mouse you can completely disable the touchpad.) There are 3 USB ports on it but what it doesn't say is the 3rd is a USB C which is so new there isn't much use for it yet. As it gains popularity and more devices are made to connect via USB C it won't be an issue. In tablet mode because of the larger size it can be a bit awkward but it's a great feature.
As for the "complaints" in other reviews -
No numeric keyboard - as shown in pictures, it doesn't have a numeric keyboard, despite having room for one. I was disappointed by this but you can buy one for less than $10.
Speakers - yes, they're a bit on the quiet side compared to my previous Dell laptops because they're on the bottom. This isn't a game changer for me because I prefer my earbuds when listening to music or watching videos for long periods of time. The sound through my earbuds is amazing.

This unit is a powerhouse, great for the average user on up to anyone asking for processing power. The laptop has a great layout, light and robust, does not feel cheap, great structural build. Compared to its competitors on the Windows side, it is much more responsive and accurate when using added features like touch screen ect. Great buy for anyone looking for a long term buy, I would recommend adding the Geek Squad Protection. A great option to ensure a worry free purchase and safeguard your purchase for years. Great piece of mind!

I have had a few laptops in my life and this is by far the best one yet for a really great price. The speed is phenomenal, the screen quality is so crisp and clear, the size is perfect for running multiple programs at once, and I could just keep going on and on. If you are looking for a very nice, fast, high-quality laptop, this is the one for you.
It is also sturdy and seems as if it is going to hold up a lot better than my previous laptops. I am constantly doing work on laptops and this one is perfect.

Jolly good. Very fast. Sturdy yet light. Position adjustment is a thumbs up.
In all seriousness, I love this laptop. It's great for all of the schoolwork I have. It even runs access database smoothly while excel and word are pulled up. The ability to use it in tablet, tent, or laptop mode is awesome when kids or pets are around. Always get Geek Squad just in case you have an accident though!

I purchased this laptop after reading a lot of reviews and doing many comparisons. It was easy to set up, loads fast and I love the flexibility of the touchscreen. It is a little too large to use as a tablet but it's great as a laptop and that is how I use it the most. The one improvement I would make is to add a number pad. I have not had any issues; everything works as expected.
