The touchpad and keyboard were glitching. Now, my new one (which I've had for one month) is having the same problem! Apparently this is an issue that multiple people have had. Maybe I just had bad luck, but if I were you, I would go with a different one. Or at least buy the protection plan through BestBuy, because if I hadn't done that I would not have been able to exchange the first time. The battery life is excellent, I will say that much.

Thank you for leaving us a review of your Inspiron laptop. We are sorry you are experiencing touchpad issues. Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:
1. In the Search box, type main.cpl.
2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs.
3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
6. Change the options as preferred.
7. Touch or click Save.
8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.
10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA.

Heavier than expected.

However the screen size makes up for it as it is a very decent screen to work with. Having previously used a 14 inch screen laptop, getting this 16 inch one makes the extra weight worth it.

Fan runs a lot more often then my other Dell and sometimes interferes with Headphones on conference calls. Speakers are also. Quiet when turned up all the way. Otherwise fast and efficient.

I like the look of it, super simple. It's lightweight and it's handled what I've thrown at it so far. Highly recommend to a friend.

BIG HEADACHE

Parts were replaced, parts were ordered then replaced. This continued for three months Finaly it was working again, for 5 months. Now warrenty has expired and the original prpblems are here again. This is THE WORST laptop I've ever owned.

It slows down

Complete waste of money.

Can't run it off and is white screened. Before that the mouse pad did whatever it wanted including opening webpages and apps. Funny thing is I couldn't get it to open anything. Left click did nothing. The amount of bloat wear makes it impossible to tell if it is super slow or just overloaded. Complete waste of $.

Uninstalling or removing software or applications that you do not use or do not need from your PC can help speed up your PC. Applications may include background processes, system services, context menu entries and other things that can slow down your PC.
Uninstall applications you no longer need using Programs and Features (previously called Add/Remove Programs). Unnecessary applications occupy space on your hard disk drive.
1. Press the Windows logo key + R on the keyboard.
2. In the Run dialog box, type appwiz.cpl and press the Enter key.
3. In the list, select a program and click Uninstall.

I have nothing but high praise for Dell's products. The young man that helped me with this purchase was thorough and highly knowledgeable with Best Buy's products. He showed me the brand new lap tops and this one which was an "open box" laptop so had considerable savings. I appreciated his expertise and professionalism throughout the entire transaction. My hat goes off to the excellent service that I have always received with Best Buy's Geek Squad.

Terrible computer

Computer is usless when it happens. Has a defect that affects over 1/3rd of these computers that Dell has been aware of for some time so certianly Best Buy is as well. Do not buy. Research says it can't be fixed. DO NOT BUY! I would rate it 0 stars if I could.

Here are the steps to help resolve your touchpad issue:
1. Ensure the touchpad and your finger do not have any dirt, grease, liquids, or food on them (the touchpad has to make good contact with your finger to work correctly).
2. Ensure that the touchpad is turned on.
3. Save any data, close any open programs and restart the computer by using a wired USB mouse (if available) or Bluetooth mouse if it is already installed, if not, press hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to turn the computer off.
4. Unplug everything except the power cable.
5. Turn the computer back on and retest the touchpad.
6. When the cursor does work correctly, attach one device at a time, and test the cursor movement to see which one may have caused the issue.
7. Ensure that the BIOS and Chipset drivers are updated to the latest version.

1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built-in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana, type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
