Customers are saying
Customers recognize the Inspiron 17.3" laptop's large screen size, good performance, and ease of use as significant advantages. Many appreciate the touchscreen functionality and ample RAM for multitasking. However, some find the laptop heavy and the limited number of USB ports inconvenient. A slow hard drive and the power button placement were also cited as potential drawbacks.

Had to return this item.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as an "open box" item. It booted up at the store, but there were several issues with it when I started to use it at home. Sorry.

This is a Garbage Laptap
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd been shopping for a laptop for quite some time and found this one on a great deal. With a I7 intel chip I couldn't resist. After getting it home I assumed it's slowness was due to updates etc. I returned the laptop because the mouse pad stopped working and the processing slowed even more. I read a few reviews prior to returning it and had I read them before I bought it I'd have never gotten it.

Good laptop for its price range!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop because i wanted something for passing time when i am away from the house for hours on end as well as to use besides my desktop when working on things at home. Pros processor- i7 ( enough said great processor line all all the way around) graphics- 940mx is a fairly solid secondary card capable of running many games at medium to high graphics ( newer games may require lower) Sound- Amazing quality for a laptop if this is a major focus point definately listen to this machines sound!!!! Cons No cdrom built in ( for some people that can still be an issue as you dont want external one for traveling all the time. Microphone Picks up feedback from speakers ( HUGE ISSUE) The laptop overall has a very good bang for bug feel to it. It is good for lower end gaming when away from the house as well as some higher end games. There are some minor issues with its microphone picking up the sound but other then that it is great,.

Good, but not great.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I liked most everything about this unit except the fan noise. It is big, but that's the only way to get the screen size. It's manageable as a tablet if you are stationary & not moving it around much. Seems to stay reasonably cool in the lap, but, when it's plugged in the fan noise is very annoying. In a quiet environment, the fan makes way too much noise as well as having an irritating pitch to the sound. The Intel i% may be better in this respect, as the i7 processor needs more cooling. This would not be the device for a conference or meeting 'cause the fan noise would be especially noticeable.

Great weight for the size
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This slim line Dell is fast and easy to cart around. The only thing I miss is that it did not come with a DVD player and only has a couple of USB ports. It does have the camera Disk slot, an hdmi and the phone hook up which I find to be very useful. I boughtt a 7 port USB hub to work with it. It is an awesome computer. I have always had great experiences with the Dell computers. The last one was an Inspiron 17 (bought in 2008) and I have rebuilt it for my Grandaughter. Great job Dell

Overall really good post upgrades
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Off the shelf, this laptop was slower than my existing Dell Inspiron 15 3000 with an I5 Processor. After a few minor upgrades, its flying quicker than ever. First off, the laptop has a few hardware options to what you can upgrade. I installed: - Intel Wireless AC8260 Card (Fast Wi-fi) - Samsung 850 EVO SATA III SSD (Quick Boot for music although not needed. I wanted an isolated drive). - Samsung 850 EVO SATA III M.2 SSD (The motherboard does only supports interfaces with 6GBPS or SATA III. So PCIe/ MVME 1.1 won't work. I tried the Samsung Pro M.2 ultra fast SSD which doesn't work). Boots quick from SSD. Planning to Install: 16 GB (2 x 8GB) Hyper X DDR4 @ 2133 CL13. This because the I7 6500U chip (Mobile Processor) can only support Ram @ 2133 MHZ and wont overclock. The CL13 Ram should have quicker speeds by the formula: CL(13) / Speed (2133 MHZ) x 1000 = 6.09. Lower Latency is better if you're limited to 2133 MHZ and not 2400MHZ. The Pros: 1. Facial Recognition 2. Sleek Design 3. Lighter than other 17.3" Laptops 4. Large Screen 5. Dedicated graphics on a 17.3" Screen. Most 4K seem to have issues. 6. Can install 2 SSDs Internally 7. Num Pad 8. Backlit Keyboard 9. Sleek thin look 10. Runs programs smoothly post upgrade 11. Bestbuy Pricing with McAfee. I purchased from Dell after and they are more expensive and give you McAfee which I find as not as good. The Cons: 1. Does not support PCIE/ MVME 1,1 @ the M.2 SSD Slot 2. Ram limited to 2133 MHz 3. Scratches really easy. No coating on the cover. I've scratched it on flat counter tops so I'm going to buy some sticker to aesthetically protect the outside. Scratches really really easy. 4. Awkward location for the mouse pad 5. Limited ports (Only 1 USB 3.0 and USB C is pointless without buying additional adapters) 6. Fairly slow off the shelf. Kind of disappointed with 12GB RAM, but I think its the Internal Western Digital 1TB HDD. Its really slow. Overall, I would only purchase if you make the upgrades. If not, for the additional coin you can get an ASUS from Bestbuy with a better processor, more USB 3.0 ports, and probably a better motherboard. I like the sleek design and this works for my on the go lifestyle, although I doubt I ever use it as a tablet.

great machine!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent machine, easy to make into an awesome machine. comes with 433 ac chip, i ordered a 866 chip, has an open m.2 sata slot, i ordered a 256gb m.2 ssd. Very easy to access these part with just a screw driver. i bought this after i decided the 4k lcd machines just didnt have all the features i was looking for, touch screen, backlit key board with number pad, and discrete grafics. has an infrared camera (which i didnt know when i bought it) that logs you into windows much faster and more reliable then the standard camera. speakers are decent and usuable (good for a laptop, some are horrible) only drawback i see is it only has 2 regular usb ports and 1 usb c, kinda odd on a 17" laptop.

Love this laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a Samsung laptop with windows 7 and tried to upgrade to windows 10 but kept reaching 99% complete and it would never finish. Thought it was time to upgrade anyway. This laptop does everything I need and more. Great login security with facial recognition, excellent speed and storage for all my files. Also has touch screen which makes it even better.

Outstanding outdoor viewing - very bright screen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you can get past the fact that this is a huge laptop, you will absolutely love this laptop. I do software development, and find that I needed a bigger screen for my work. I am really happy so far with this laptop. I have had at least 15 laptops in my lifetime and this Dell has the best screen by far that I have had in front of me. I also love that I can log in to the laptop with facial recognition through Windows Hello and the infrared camera that is built in.
