    Great Buy @ Best Buy!

Purchase Mar. 2018 Review May 2018 Pros: Best Buy salesman very helpful and got me an "open box" computer with $$$.$$ price reduction! Screen picture great. Sound Card good for external speakers/ headphones. Touchpad very responsive Easy computer mechanical controls on "F" keys Keyboard easy to dust Long power cord -- but with big clunky transformer Backlighted keyboard Bluetooth connects easily and is very stable No junkware on my computer. DELL Support Assistant programs are easy to use. Cons : (for me) Keyboard keys very close together for large hands Metal case is heavy and "slick" and hinge is very stiff. Hang on tight! Screen is not non glare glass Only has 2 full sized USB ports No DVD player or included player software program on system (try "5Kplayer" it works super and is free!) Fan is VERY NOISY like a hair dryer if you run a HDMI cable connencted TV screen and the monitor simultaneously!! With TV screen only it runs normally This is my biggest complaint. Otherwise the fan is very quiet Power switch is in an awkward place and when bumped mistakenly shuts off screen. Boot up time and large update downloads are unexpectedly SLOW. If you are a "speedy demon" look elsewhere! No instruction book comes with a new computer Windows 10 SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :+) This is my first one with it.

    Nice 17' Laptop

I am happy with my purchase. The first thing I did was remove the 12 screws on the bottom of the Laptop to gain access to all the upgradeable parts and was pleased to see that is has a M2 slot. I installed a Samsung 512GB M2 NVME card and did a clean install on Windows 10 Professional. Note the unit ships with Windows 10 Home installed. The laptop is shy on ports, however dell does sell the USB-C Mobile Adapter – DA300 which runs you a extra of about $90 USD. I was surprised that the laptop really does give very decent battery life. The laptop runs very cool with vents on the bottom (Near The Rear) and back (right below the display lid). I purchased a Steklo - X-Stand from Amazon to give it a little more height and ventilation. I would recommend the purchase of a bluetooth mouse to use with the included built-in Bluetooth feature. Lastly the wifi works well and I have had not issues with it. Pros: Good Battery Life Nice 17.3' Touch Screen Display Backlit Keyboard M.2 internal slot (NVME) Extra unused Memory slot. Easy access to all internal parts for upgrades. 1 HDMI Port 1 USB Type C Port Cons: 1 USB 3 Port 1 USB 2 Port No Cdrom Drive No Ethernet Port 5400 RPM Hard Drive Windows 10 Home

    TERRIFIC 17.3 INCH LAPTOP

I was looking for a nice 17.3 inch laptop and found this terrific Dell laptop that is 2 in 1 and great to use. It is fast, terrific screen resolution, easy setup, and not that heavy at all. Sound is also very nice. I usually don't purchase Dell computers, however, this one has changed my mind. Nice laptop with great features and well done!!

Easy to Use for Hours of Writing, Reading & Videos

This large laptop is well worth the increased weight and dimensions to get a touchscreen that works flawlessly and yields brilliant images and video, and displays pafes of text that are easy to read and write for hours. If you write a lot, and enjoy video on a laptop, you'll love this larger-than-average device. If I used a laptop only a few minutes at a time, and mostly carried it all day, I'd want a smaller and lighter weight device. Since I often use it for several hours continuously, and it's comfortable to use for hours, I don't mind that it's noticeably heavier than any other laptop I've owned. If I bought it again, I'd upgrade it to be faster if possible, but I've used it a lot over three years, and I'm satisfied. I'm especially glad I took a chance on a laptop with such a large screen - it's easy to use for hours at a time.

Perfect if it came with a SSD

I saw plenty of people complaining about how slow this laptop was but I knew right away it was because it has a HDD (not even a 7200 rpm one either). At this price it should have come with one. I believe the new one do but this model did not. When I got home I did not even turn it one yet and I added a m.2 NVME 256 ssd that I got when I purchased this. I did what I had to do with in the system to make it work and put windows on the SSD. This thing flies. No issue ever with speed, loading, editing, or video. Do your self a favor. If you want this get an SSD. If you can't or dont want to install it your self have Geek quad or a local computer pro do it. I't might add a bit to the price but believe me you wont regret it. -1 for no SSD from the factory. (especially since they are cheap now.)

I'm not tech savvy but I found this beauty in the open box section. I think it was a display at some point. either way there was nothing wrong with it. the "scratches" were super small and you had to hold it to a light and hold it close to your face to see it. I bought mines for $770 ((a steal)) :-) the touch screen is sensitive to respond well but not overly sensitive when cleaning to rub the smudges off. theres two dim settings for the keyboard and that's really good when at night. quick response time especially when rebooting and or "waking up" from sleep mode. I'm happy!

Nothing that competes so most reviews that compare

Nothing that competes so most reviews that compare are pretty freaking useless. 17.3 tablet when you need it for design or artistic work. Surprised it is not more popular, masses are slow to pick up.... It's the only game in town if you don't want to squint as a cerebral type of Musician (sheet reading), Engineer or artist (on the go designs when away from your big screen workstation.) MS (Surface Pro) and Apple's offerings have nothing that competes so far.

Great Laptop, Super Fast compared to my last one. I would suggest buying a 1-2TB SSHD and use the slower one for an external HDD. The backlit keyboard is awesome for use at night. The biggest downfall is the fan it's a bit loud.

    Great computer after upgrades

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First got it, was VERY slow. However, I know I want a 17inch and I am willing to do the upgrades. Added 16 more Ram and switched out the hard-drive for an SSD, Blazing, working just fine. In defense of Dell, I am not looking for a perfect laptop. A laptop that is easy to upgrade, yes. Hands down, this has been the easiest laptop to upgrade. I even switched out the hard-drive! I'm giving it a 4 star because they could have put more resources towards the guts of this laptop on the front end. But they did make this lap top incredibly easy to upgrade and when you do it flies! And FYI, getting this laptop and doing the upgrades is way cheaper then trying to find a laptop with the specs your going to upgrade to.

Some issues that need to be ironed out

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The specs is known so you have it. There are some serious issues that Dell needs to fix them. The LED panel while bright & wide gamut (92%) not exactly 100%, Is grainy and when viewed straight on the sides look far more grainy mixed with color (chromatic) sparkles. The grain comes from gaps between pixels. This screen always look dirty on white mono color or bright images. The on/off is too tiny and flushed with side panel. It is hard to find it by touch. It is a struggle to operate it. The hard drive is slow in writing data makes it not a suitable match for the processor creating a major bottleneck. There is not LED indicator for on mode. If my screen is in time out mode but unit is on no way of telling. The cord plug head is straight out 1 1/2" make it susceptible to get broken and damage the computer internal. It needs an elbow plug. Otherwise a good computer but not excellent hence 3 stars. Dell always leave something to desire because it cuts corners. The screen should get a recall advisory. I am thinking to return it..

My 17-inch HP started running slow. I started looking at some reviews. I came across this one. The experts rated this touchscreen 4.2 Stars. Had the Geek Squad set it up for me. Remove some slow running programs and bloatware that was installed . When I got home run quite Zippy just like the experts said it would. Speaker sounded decent to good. Touchscreen has good color and clarity.
