Spectacular Look And Performance

All-in-one computers don't tend to include DVD drives so you need to be aware of that. But the performance and style in Dell's new release are very nice. Nobody should be releasing a new computer/laptop without a solid state drive (SSD) for Windows - and Dell failed to rise to this occasion last year (though their all-in-one was still quite nice). They are releasing this model with a choice of having a 512 GB or 1 TB SSD. I have the 512 GB model and Windows is running lightening fast. And now that SSD drives are getting larger and cheaper, I don't think we need to have computers with SSD Windows drives that are supplemented by larger non-SSD storage drives (buy an external!). This is sporting 12 GB of RAM which they advertise as being able to run multiple applications smoothly. That's definitely more than enough RAM to run all of my applications smoothly but I insist that most of the smoothness is the result of having Windows run so fast with the SSD drive. Installation was pretty fast - but even on a new computer, getting past the intervening Windows updates took over an hour. But the installation is infuriatingly bloated. My own rating for this computer is based on my final installation where I spent time configuring everything and removing what I thought was trash. Bloat and trash are inherent dangers of modern installs now so while I would recommend this computer for a novice, I would caution that novice to seek the help of a more knowledgeable friend. The aesthetics of this computer are impressive - and the computer comes with an attractive and matching (and reactive) wireless keyboard and mouse. Dell's new design is a significant improvement from what they had out last year. The screen is a bit shiny for my taste but the image is amazing - beautiful and sharp and clear - just a little bit shiny. Great sound from the little soundbar below the screen. Great bluetooth. Tons of ports. So, DVD aside, this is an incredible all-in-one offering on the market right now. Attractive and fast with a hefty SSD drive for Windows (and storage).

I would have rated it a five but the little sound bar doesn't give you great sound. I bought some Bose speakers and now I have the sound.
