    No thermal paste

    Computer runs good but we were wondering why its so loud!! So we took back off and there is no thermal paste on processor is this a thing? Its getting to hot so the fan is super loud and annoying

      Below are steps to run a pre-boot diagnostic test that can help.

      1. Restart your Dell PC.
      2. When the Dell logo appears, press F12 key to enter One-time Boot Menu.
      3. Use the arrow keys to select Diagnostics and press Enter key on the keyboard.
      4. Follow the on-screen prompts and respond appropriately to complete the diagnostics.
      5. If the test fails, ensure to write down the error code and validation code.

    Dell Inspiron 3511 15.6" Touch Laptop

    I have had a few problems with the pad not working properly and having to use the touch screen. It seems to come and go. Other than that it has been a great laptop.

    Love my computer. It last all day and it’s very fast. The slim design makes it slightly harder to use on your lap but on a desk or table it’s perfect

    Nice touchscreen laptop. Works nice. When Idle to sleep mode it’s a little hard to get it back up . Overall a good unit .

    Love my laptop. I had needed to replace an older laptop from 10+ years ago for simple home use and even for a lot of the Office products. Price could not be beat. Very lightweight. Clear picture. Easy to transport.

    Excellent purchase. I have been a user of Dell products for quite some time and this machine is working wonderfully as I would expect. The price was amazing and unexpected. Especially since it included a touch screen and a few other niceties that would not be on a machine priced this low.

    Nice compact size. Very quiet. I dont think the fan really came on while i had the unit. I did have to return, the HDMI now only sends out low resolution. I needed higher resolution for an external 34" ultrawide screen.

    Great business laptop. This laptop is very fast. It is lightweight, the screen is beautiful, speakers are loud enough, the touchscreen is responsive and accurate. Very good at multitasking as well.

    I purchased this surprising laptop for a work replacement. Of course as only I do I opened it up and it had a full size bay for additional storage for an 2.5 ssd. It also has another empty bay for more ram.

    Great computer, got it for basic business work and just casual use! It does everything I need it to do! Love the touch screen feature, I didn’t think i would use it but I do all the time! Would definitely recommend this computer.

    The computer had issues but dell was able to get us shipping info amd box for it and we semt it out and got it back in the same week it was fast and notified us theought the repair and were amazing.

    Pros and Cons

    There are pros & cons. Pro - well priced. Cons 1) No backlight on keyboard & keyboard seems designed off-center by a single key....very strange. 2) Speakers mounted on bottom - very muffled. 3) Final con Is Microsoft itself (not Dell's fault) - comes prepackaged in 'S-Mode' preventing you from uploading any program or changing your search engine (other than Edge) that did not come directly from 'Microsoft Store' (very predatory). Easy fix is to hit Microsoft website and from there toggle Microsoft to take your computer out of S-Mode (the change is permanent)....thank goodness.

    Has some weird quirks but I have had it for a year and a half and it has been very reliable. Touch screen works great still. Can't beat the price

    Hot Laptop

    I wanted a laptop similar to my old Dell, which is on its last leg. I was directed at the store to this one as having the most similar specs. Lightweight. The price was good too. However, I am disappointed and still haven't transferred my files. I specifically told the salesperson I do not want a touch screen. This has a touchscreen. I decided to keep it because of the price. When I started to use it, I found that it always felt hot around the battery and even up on the top by keyboard above battery, which concerns me. Of course I keep it on a flat, firm surface, and I have had several laptops over the years. I brought it to the store to Geek Squad and they weren't very helpful and said if it's not giving a warning screen or shutting off, it's probably just like that. I was even asked, "is it hot like you can fry an egg on it?" Another employee was more helpful in Customer Service and said that sometimes when the laptop is thin and plastic, not metal, the heat is felt more. I have it propped up now about an inch off the laptop table, and it seems better, and I'm going to try a cooling pad. But my fault, if I had started using it sooner, within the 2 week return window, I would have returned it. I don't like that it feels so warm.

      Hello Lbell,

      We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We apologize for the overheating issue you are experiencing with your Dell Inspiron 3511 computer.

      To help with this issue, we would recommend making sure the BIOS is up to date on your PC. I have provided a link to the Drivers and Downloads page so you can check for and do any applicable updates. Dell has also released an Intel Power Management Utility to help with the overheating that you may be experiencing on your computer. For this package to take effect, the system power plan must be set to Balanced under the Additional Power Settings. Also, the Power Mode option that is displayed when you click the battery icon, should be set to Better Performance. This package only takes effect on AC power and not on battery power. The Intel Power Management Utility can be found here - http://dell.to/3tStRgX.

      Please see the steps that should help resolve the overheating issue and a link to the full article below:

      1. Inspect and clean the air vents and fans.
      2. Restart the computer.
      3. Update the BIOS and Chipset driver.
      4. Download and install Microsoft Windows updates.
      5. Run a hardware diagnostic test.
      6. Use Dell Power Manager to manage thermal performance.
      7. Improve efficiency to reduce heat.
      8. Perform a Windows System Restore.
      9. Restore the computer to factory settings.
