Fans super loud. Battery life sucks and the keyboard stopped working within six months and was never dropped or had any spills on it. Also audio driver stops working when it updates so constantly have to go in and set it back on last update.

      Hello Valued Customer,

We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your review. We are sorry to hear about the issue you have come across with your Dell Inspiron 3511 computer because its fans are too loud, the battery life is not as you expected, and the keyboard and audio drivers stopped working. This is certainly not the experience that we like to hear from our customers. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to help improve our current and future products.
Please make sure you have downloaded the latest system update and that software you are using meets all system requirements. I have provided a link to the drivers and downloads page where you can check for any applicable updates.

      Drivers and Downloads page: https://dell.to/3hLXbku

To help resolve loud fan issue, we recommend the following steps to run a pre-boot diagnostic test that can help.

      1. Restart your Dell PC.
      2. When the Dell logo appears, press the F12 key to enter the One-time Boot Menu.
      3. Use the arrow keys to select Diagnostics and press Enter key on the keyboard.
      4. Follow the on-screen prompts and respond appropriately to complete the diagnostics.
      5. If the test fails, ensure to write down the error code and validation code.

      1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
      2. On the options list, click Power Options.
      3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built-in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.

      a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
      b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
      c) Turn the Battery Saver On or Off.
      d) Additional settings are available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.

Horrible! I received the laptop and during the set up I couldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi. Something was wrong with the driver. Took it back to Best Buy. They sent me another one and it had the same problem. Called Best Buy, their customer service was just as horrible. Decided to call Dell . And they finally helped me.

Avoid This Dell and don't believe their warranty.

Bought a Inspiron 3511 directly from Dell. Right away I realized I did not do enough research. I found the battery was internal and not removable. This would have been a show stopper since all my previous Dell laptops are sitting with the batteries removed because I found they occasionally powered back up on their own and since power cord was disconnected the battery would run down. Sure enough, I found this laptop powering back up, both from hibernate and completely shut down. Well Dell knew about it and even had a new boot (not released yet) They sent. It took going through 2 different tech support people to get there. Next, I notices browser windows closing on their own. I realized that when picking up the laptop, since it was so thin, it flexed and triggered left click on the touchpad. Since there is no driver for the touchpad there is nothing that could be done. I went through multiple tech support and supervisor finally decided the touchpad must be bad (I highly doubt this). Time has now dragged past the 30 days so returning is not an option (they tell me). Three times they scheduled someone to come to my house and replace the touchpad. Three times no one has show/called/emailed. I tried calling the organization that does the repair. Got hung up on twice and when I could talk to someone could not understand a thing they said. To date, the touchpad has not been fixed. I need to be very carefull picking it up. I make sure the cursor is some place that won't trigger something. The big thing that worries me is that since you can see the case flex when picking it up, that tells me the circuit board with parts soldered down also flex. Anyone that works with circuit cards knows solder joints can crack and traces can crack. I don't think this laptop has long to live, unlike my old D600, D620, D630, or 2 inspirons. Do more research and find a better product and a company that honors their warranty.

Fantastic if you like disrupting work and class environments and having a useless piece of metal instead of a computer. Regularly has boot errors which causes this awful uncontrollable screeching from the computer so not only will your computer not open, but the entire room will hear about it. Ive almost missed deadlines on tons of assignments due to the laptop deciding it doesnt have a hard drive despite geek squad running hardware diagnostics and saying its fine.

terrible laptop. Constantly lags and freezes for few seconds when having just a few microsoft word docs and powerpoint open. Typing words is delayed causing me to experience huge migraines. Batter life lasts 2 hours at most and 2 1/2 hours if screen is half-bright and laptop is on battery saver mode. Screen is very dim and especially noticeable when watching movies in dark scenes. Not recommend for anything other than a paperweight

      Dear Valued Customer,

We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are not too happy with your Dell Inspiron 3511 laptop because it is performing slowly, battery life is shorter than you expected and it freezes. This is certainly not what we like to hear from our customers.

I have provided steps for using the Windows Performance Troubleshooter which should help resolve the performance issue. I have also provided a link to the full article that has more options if needed.

      Windows performance Troubleshooter:
      1. Close all open windows.
      2. Press the Windows logo key + X key on the keyboard.
      3. Click Control Panel.
      4. Click System and Security.
      5. Under Security and Maintenance, select Troubleshoot common problems.
      6. Under System and Security, click Run maintenance tasks.
      7. Follow the on-screen instructions and prompts to complete the process.
      8. Restart the PC.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2tSulGV.

Below I have provided a list of solutions for the freezing issue, along with a link to the full article, should you need further information. We also recommend making sure your BIOS is up to date on your PC. I have given you a link to the Drivers and Downloads page for your computer so you can check for and do applicable updates.

      Resolutions
      1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA
      2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below:
      a) Start the computer.
      b) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.)
      c) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter.
      d) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access.
      e) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete step 3 to see if you are able to resolve the lockups or freezing.
      3. Check for Malware. Malware (Virus, Spyware, etc.) can definitely cause a Windows system to lock up or appear to hang. To check for malware on your system and to ensure that your computer is up to date on security software, visit Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2wWP1zI

You can read the full article here - https://dell.to/3rTldMZ
