Battery and Charger did not work on day 1

Unfortunately, due to scheduled travel, I was unable to return within the 2 weeks allowed so now I am stuck with the computer. My wife's HP charger works, but again, it doesn't hold a charge and we are stuck sharing her cord when using it.
