Dell Laptop Model: I5558-2571BLK CPU: 2.4Ghz with up to 3Ghz boost. Normal running between 2.5 to 2.8 range. Memory: DDR3L NOT DDR3 so be careful when purchasing ram. Max: preinstalled with 6GB and upgradable to 16 GB. Upgrading is easy via the bottom access cover along with HDD, CMOS Batery and WIFI card. Screen: NOT Touch, powered by onboard graphics no dedicated video. Features: Bluetooth, Newer A/C WIFI and NOT G/N works well with Centurylink DSL wireless modem / routers. This is a replacement for an Asus Laptop that Geek Squad destroyed trying to upgrade the memory. This is better built and more sturdy than the lower end Asus brands models. Easily upgradable for Memory and HDD. Was informed that this does support SSD though I have not upgraded to one on this laptop. Cons: ------------ Finger Prints, Screen is lower quality and on mine began to develop dead pixels that grew in size and became more numerous. Unable to turn off touch pad and gets in way when typing. In Windows 8.1 there is a setting to disable taps, this does not help or turn off when using a mouse. I like the touch pad but it is too easy to accidentally click and move the mouse causing potential problems on screen or change a setting while typing. There are NO external lights to indicate any type of activity such as HDD, WIFI or Power. There is one light that comes on when charging or blinks on and off when turning the power on or off. It is hard to tell if you turned the computer off or if it is in sleep mode you just don't know. Keyboard is not backlit if that is an issue for you. Pros: ------------- Comes with a DVD player. Upgradable to 16 GB which I highly recommend doing, it will NOT speed up the computer just allow you to do more things at once.. This is an Intel I7 5th Gen mobile version CPU which is lower power and lowest power of any of the AMD's and some other I7's. From benchmarks this is a step above the highest i5 by a notch or two. It does NOT compare to a desktop i7 or a gamers enthusiast CPU it is a mid range Intel and any of the older desktop versions of the i7 will out perform this greatly. But for a laptop it is decent. Comparing to an AMD A10 of similar specs this will out perform on performance, multi-tasking and intensive CPU tasks. The AMD kicks this out of the water for graphics and video so if you are a gamer only, go with an AMD A10 series. If you use this primarily for work then the Intel's are better performance. Adobe Creative Cloud works amazingly well on this. Video editing and also Graphics programs like Photoshop work well with this but the screen is not IPS quality and is lower end than some of the other more expensive laptops. Getting colors to look right is a chore and the True Color application does not allow you to store custom settings so you need to continually adjust it every time you turn on or off the laptop or go on and off battery. If you have display issues such as colors not sticking to settings or disabled features for setting display such as contrast or saturation then you need to reinstall the graphics drivers which will solve the issue. There are pre-installed software: Cyberlink DVD suite, McAfee Security with trial subscription, Amazon and other shopping apps and a couple other programs that I just uninstalled. I gave this a three star rating because of the Touch Pad not being able to be turned off and scrolling is limited or not possible like on other laptops. You have no idea if this is off off or in sleep mode and the display and graphic quality is more on the low end of things. For less than $500.00 I would say this is a "buy it" if it is in the $600 range skip and get a better laptop.

Bought this on sale for $450. A core i7 processor for $450! It runs great and is snappy. Already got my copy of Windows 10 reserved. It took a few days to show up, but it finally did. If you're looking for a great performance laptop but don't have tons of money, this one can't be beat for the price.

I was looking for a fast and high conf computer. I got this within my budget. This really fulfill my needs. Everything is perfect except you can't see any indicator which will say you if your computer is still running or it is shut down. Sound quality is really better than my previous laptop. I was running 4-5 tasks at a time. Still no performance drop. I love black color and it looks gorgeous in black. Typing is really cool. It's processor is 2.4 GHz with a turbo booster upto 3 GHz. Already got my Windows 10. No backlit light keyboard. That isn't a problem for me as I can type in darkness. Overall, this laptop deserves a 5! Thank you Best buy!

Please remember to delete Windows 8 after updating to Windows 10. Your machine will perform faster without 2 operating systems installed! My only complaint is that I had to download ALL Windows 8 updates prior to downloading Windows 10. Due to connection speeds the whole process took me 2 days. This machine is easy to navigate and provides for compact mobility. I will definitely look into expanding the ram at a later date after I see how it responds to more gaming, the specs said you could expand it to 16. Graphics are beautiful and no complaints about the hard drive space either.

This Dell was like finding a diamond in a batch of costume jewelry. Very, very impressive. Has it's own, free (no catch), DVD playback program preinstalled. (most need third party player) Battery auto shuts down upon full charge when plug adapter is being used, so no worries of "over charging" the battery if you stay plugged in. The battery is easily accessible as well. Set up pretty much took care of itself. Long power adapter cord (most have short ones. I preserve the battery a lot when at home and don't like to be tethered close to the wall). Hard drive expandable to 16 gigabytes. "5th" Generation i7 processor. 3 gigahertz. Very responsive and fast, great touch pad, high quality HD, nice web cam, very good sound, etc., etc. Still can't believe what I paid for it. Had a much higher budget to work with, but his was a no brainier.

I purchased this yesterday to be used as a downstairs computer for the family. After unpacking it and getting everything updated that I needed to, I am considering making it my computer and giving the all-in-one to the kids. This laptop has some serious processing power. It flawlessly runs multiple programs and applications at once. The speaker system is quite good to be a laptop. It has the right amount of USB ports and includes an optical drive, which a lot of laptops don't come with anymore. If you are seeking a desktop replacement or a robust laptop for anything from homework or running specialized programs, I would suggest giving this one a look. Again, for the money($479 on sale), this is a great deal. Lastly, there's very little preloaded "junk" on the laptop out of the box which is extremely nice...for me that is.

The reasons I chose this laptop instead of the other Dell( touchscreen, backlit keyboard, lightweight, and stylish look) were because it has Core i7 and CD player. BUT this laptop is unbelievably slow! Plus, this laptop's fan is so easy to get loud! OMG it's so noisy... I was writing the review with this laptop. I really want to give 3 stars, but I am nice. I am thinking to return this laptop after I try two more days. Anyone can give me some suggestions? I got this laptop for my Engineering major, do I really need a CD player? If not, I am seriously going to exchange this laptop with the other Dell.

Awesome Machine for 479.99 i7 processor under 500 bucks. It's easy to get to the ram and hdd for upgrades. The speakers sounds good. It's thin even with the CD drive. Only thing a I don't like is the glossy cover but I can live with that.

I'm looking for a replacement laptop and searched BB because I like to shop there especially online because I am disabled and just cannot go to the store sometimes. After looking at many other laptops I decided that this would suit my needs just fine. Much to my surprise I noticed that it was unavailable for shipping and not available in stores! For the satisfaction of your online customers BB, this info should be known before we waste our time researching products only to get disappointed afterwards. It feels like false advertising to me. Surely your computers could be programmed to put a big red X over the product name or the price and state that it is is currently "sold out online" next to the price. Or simply take it off the website until it is available! I'll still be shopping at BB, but please make our lives a little easier by taking our time, effort and feelings into account in this matter. Thank you.

I bought this computer for personal use and school. I needed a computer with the right combination of specs so it would work efficiently and not slow up. I needed multiple windows open at once, and this computer worked with out missing a beat. For the price and specs, this computer is awesome. Dell did a great job with the combination of specs for it to run efficiently. I have had computers in the past that had fast processors and the combination of internal parts did not match so the computer was slow. This computer is an "awesome buy".

Worked fine first time setting it up. Turned it on one day later to a black screen; wouldn't boot or do anything. Spent five hours on the phone with Dell after they had me remove battery, discharge static, replace battery - then it turned on. After getting off the phone with Dell I shut down and tried to turn it on a few hours later. Again to a black screen and having to remove the battery to get it to boot. Not sure if I will be keeping this laptop; may be a loose connection???

I was in the market for a laptop to replace my 6 year old Dell desktop but didn't want to pay for a touchscreen or 2 in 1. This laptop was less than $500 during the Black Friday in July sale so I immediately purchased it. The only thing on my list of criteria that it came up short on was RAM, I would have preferred 8 GB, and I may add more, but I'm not sure I need more. I am paperless so my home computer is my lifeline, along with my online backup. Windows 8.1 was horrible, coming from Windows 7, but the Windows 10 upgrade was so simple. I've had it over a month now and love it.
